    • @Natak222
      @Natak222 Před měsícem +14

      That isn't how profits work, you need to account for the billions they've spent on R&D/parts/marketing/manufacturing. It desperately needs to be a sub $1499 device with drastically cheaper materials

    • @pimisi
      @pimisi Před měsícem +2

      @@Natak222 Back in the days companies focus on satisfying their customers and break even gradually. Not milking the customers for it.
      So you’re saying the materials need to cost $0 so they can add their profit of $1499 to be able to sell at $1500-ish? Cos according to your logic they need to have a profit of at lease $1499 to make up for “R&D” etc.

    • @Natak222
      @Natak222 Před měsícem +10

      @@pimisi Basically what I’m saying is a 200% markup isn’t enough for a niche product like this to make sense long term. Check out the luxury fashion industry where 10x markups are the norm.
      It isn’t as simple as selling a product for around twice as much as it costs. You need to add so many other factors like r&d, marketing, returns etc etc. It’s the reason why it makes financial sense to scrap this product and begin development on a considerably cheaper headset vs. halving the current price, the profit margins would be too thin

    • @DoqCA
      @DoqCA Před měsícem +3

      @@pimisithis isn’t how it worked “back in the days”. Companies have and always will be driven by profits. “Back in the days” from around 1970s-1990s we had an entire generation with the highest delinquency rates and lowest average iq since the industrial revolution because oil companies put lead in their product as a cheap way to reduce engine knocking.
      As the dude explained, they need to sell at a massive markup because they spent years of development, salaries, research, certifications, etc. Just to get it off the ground and they are deeply in the red. Additionally it’s a niche product, not meant to be sold to the masses. Think of it like you getting taxed 95% On your income, you’d need a lot more to survive I’m sure.

    There’s no reason to have an outward facing screen and sensors. Focus on the user experience and make it less than half the weight.

    • @joelface
      @joelface Před měsícem +4

      The outward sensors are crucial for the AR tech, but the outward facing screen proved to be essentially an unnecessary gimmick that a cheaper model doesn't need. They need to find a way to keep the screen as high quality as the current vision pro, though, or it'll lose it's main advantage over the competition.

    I am very happy with my Apple Vision Pro. I mostly use it to watch movies and the relaxation/meditation apps to unwind at home. I may not use it everyday but it is great to have when I need some escapism.
    If you have AirPods for Spatial Audio and a nice movie to watch such as Avatar, there is no better way to watch a movie.
    I think there is tons of potential with it to create nice rides or experiences that you see at the Disney Theme parks such as that Pandora ride in Animal kingdom. If they can make a nice feedback chair to go with it, that would be insane but I know that may be a fantasy more than a reality.

    • @joelface
      @joelface Před měsícem +4

      I think that sounds great, but unfortunately not many people have that kind of disposable income that they'd rather spend that amount of money on a less used device when they could instead spend it on upgrades to things around their home that they'll get more use out of every day. I think the other major issue the Vision Pro has besides the price is a lack of killer apps -- things that you can only do in the Vision Pro that you can't do in the Quest, that warrant the purchase. I think Apple needs to invest heavily in VR programming on Apple TV, as well as building up the Spatial Video component of future iPhones. Currently they're just 3D videos, it seems, but they can likely advance those videos to have 6DOF volumetric video in some capacity in the next couple years.. at least they need to if they want users to create compelling content for other people to watch in a Vision Pro.

      @Greego Před měsícem +1

      @@joelface I agree. I think it is like your other high end products in a particular category such as a Bentley, CyberTruck, 4K projector, Mac Studio or even iPhone 15 Pro. Most people are just not going to be able to buy them and some will have to go for an alternative experience. What the company who makes these products will have to consider is that most people won’t be able to buy them if they set the price high.

With an ecosystem of devices at many users’ fingertips, the headset could be stripped down to sleeker, less conspicuous, more portable glasses. I love my apple vision pro. I use it every day , just like a PC or Mac. Don't need to use it for HOURS straight. 30-60 min or sometimes 2 hours (when watching a movie) is enough. The experience is simply unmatched. After owning Quest 3 and other VR headsets, they are all trying so hard to copy the OS features , but cannot match the quality and simplicity of Vision OS IMO.
    This being said, I think it makes all the sense in the world to focus on a cheaper model with less features to expand the install base, get even more app support etc.
    Will this ultimately replace your phone? No
    Will this ultimately replacing your Mac? No

To address one of the more idiotic statements in this video, most VP users wear ear buds or head phones while using the device. With that in mind, talking to the user in order to determine if they can see you is just as stupid in reality as it sounds when she says it in the video.
