the extra heal skill definitely seems like a great pick on kremlin, that thing normally soaks potential damage, and that extra heal makes up for the one less charge it gets in comparison to other BBs. Same for the superheal BBs that aren’t incomp.

@@anubhavdassarma7230 Yes, but with longer (normal) cooldown, may not be able to use all of them due to lack of time.

Played a meme build with Furious, SHAP, IRPR, ERE on GK and Kremlin and it's without exaggerating the most fun i had with WoWs in months. I caught myself hitting the Battle button because i really want to get into the next match instead of just grinding something out. It just feels good to not being restricted to back line sniping and waiting for the late game but getting closer, taking damage away from your team and brawling the enemy team down. Love the update.
Wondering if this also works with ASW planes, since that's often a way to find players behind an island. That would potentially make that decision to send out the ASW planes more of a risk if an enemy ship is on fire or trying to get to the next heal. If it does, then that really does add an extra dimension to that gameplay.
It works with AA on, so yes, it does work with asw planes
I understand occasional usage of ASW to get "semi spotting" but I swear current usage of ASW planes by average playerbase is like IQ check and they fail every single time: 90% of asw planes are dropped onto spotted surface ships - change my mind
@@ImRandomDudeyeah, I really feel like half of the population doesn't really understand the actual reason for dropping them and they just spam all of the modules.
It's also suprising that players wont use asw to lure off carrier's fighters negating plane spotting
@@ImRandomDude I use them on spotted ships when in close battle because I was never sure if the planes distracted dual purpose secondaries like what you find on german ships that use secondaries as both anti ship and AA.

Enjoy the fact that Commander skills can be altered for free. But hiding the way to activate them is chincey. I really enjoy the game. Been playing for 3-1/2 years now.

I suppose these sorts of changes are more good than bad. I would like to see an analysis of experienced players' ship builds for ships they actually play. I think you'll find 80% of all commander points are spent on the same things (per class). For example, all BB builds are about the same. I expect 2ndary and survival builds and not a lot else. This is where the discussion should begin. WG then should buff every skill that players don't take until we start seeing a diversity of builds. For example, "
A good idea of what high skill players are running comes from yurra's ship build guide as well as his general guide collection. It's not 100% what all the high WR/PR players are running, and what you run in randoms will likely be different than in CBs, but it's a very good guideline to what unicum players consider optimal.
Love running improved AA and ASW expert on ships sporting heavy AA protection like the San Diego. it's amazing how fast and how many planes you'll shred if the squadron gets anywhere near you. And you can also wreck subs that are stupid enough to get spotted near you. Sometimes the match is over and you'll do a double take on how many planes you downed and you didn't even realize that was happening. On non-CV matches, you still can be an effective sub hunter and make them wish they got no where near you. To have this kind of health power for BBs, yahh, you got to imagine it was provided to influence BBs to push in more.
I have been running UU Worster for long time. The UU give you 20% faster cool down on ALL consumable and extra charger of each. I also run the 4 point AA shill…with that, I can use all SIX heals easily…It is gonna be nice to have 6 heals on BBs

Completely different question. How did you get the chat mod working again. It's so annoying to not have the ship name in the chat, just the player name, but the mods (from ModStation) are broken for me since 2 updates, now the 3rd one. Do you use maybe Asslains?
Thank you for the build. I think that replacing the secondary skill for Burning would be interesting to try as it could very synergy. Playing the tortchman ; burning a keep your health wile shooting like a machine gun ?
ERE + DCP mod gives almost 31s dcp run time, coupled with good rotation of 40s CD heal + plane reduction. good luck killing it

i wonder if a build with only 1 lvl 4 skill ( the secondary for ohio and flandre for exemple and instead of taking fire prevention get basic of survability for one less point ( it would free you some point like demo expert

That could be a very nasty skill to have on a Thunderer or the Incomparable, and obviously a Conqueror.
Is this new update out yet? I don't see the free commander reset
Seeing some AA builders for BB's and Cruisers would be awesome. I expect they will not be a good as the "good old days" of no-fly zones but they may give a CV a bit of a punch to the nose. Maybe better in lower tiers with weaker CV's?

I run the AA defense expert and asw expert on my iowa. along with some other abilities, I can get the ship todo 40 Knots, and even russian carriers find it hard to get through my AA
I just killed 3 this morning in the sub LOL..but yea the new skills are making things ridiculous, which will take some getting used to.

I am looking forward to running the consumable reduction skill on Vermont.
What is the direct benefit for Vermont? It's concealment is really good allowing you to stay dark a lot and pop a shot at range. I get that every BB gets farmed at some point but the skill might be better suited for ships that are better at pushing in.
@slip6699 Like Ohio, it has the fast cooldown heal, so you can get it back really quick. I have found Vermont to be incredibly tanky (I think the armor layout?) and this was before the skill change.
Due to the concealment, amazing guns, and amazing agility, I try to use Vermont at the 12-18km range.
@@slip6699 with CVs and subs, concealment for BBs is a joke. Sometimes you aren't spotted. Most of the time, if you aren't cruising the A line, you're spotted the entire game.

You need to become a specific Level I guess or a ship in a specific tier. Something like that. Then you are able to access the commander skills.

I wonder if you can game the 2 point AA skill by turning AA off mid strike and turn it back on and get the effect twice.
That's not how it works. Think of it as speeding up the rate at which the consumables come back while the AA guns are firing, instead of knocking a flat 40% off as soon as the AA opens up. Say a consumable has a cooldown of 100 units. When the AA is not shooting, the cooldown ticks away at 1 unit/second. When they are firing, it ticks away at either 1.4 or 1.66 units per second (depending on where the 40% comes into play in the programming).
@@Frigidblood I'd say possibly but it appears to reduce the cooldowns instantly. Notice at 2:02, 38 seconds and 12 seconds. When the planes come the cooldowns drop to 23 and 7. Fairly possible it can just be gamed heavily by repeatedly turning AA off and on.
@@seraphis At 6:34, the CD on his spotter drops from 3m14s to 1m56. Then at 6:59 it jumps back up to 2m34s. So in that ~25 seconds of real time, 40 seconds of CD elapsed. In other words, the CD was ticking away at ~1.66x normal speed while the AA guns were firing, and once they stopped, it slowed down to normal speed.
Emergency Repair Expert is imo the most overrated 4 pointer skill for BBs. Sure, on german Battlecruisers and Soviet BBs for example its a must have. But on all BBs with 4 base heals i rate both Concealment Expert and Fire Prevention much higher. And on seconadry BBs also Manual Secondaries.
The best you get from this skill is the +10% healing. The additional heal gets used very rarely. You re already either sunk or the battle is over in most cases.
Just a point of view for someone who has a brainer about which skill he can drop to try out the new stuff.

With the ability to switch builds for free, I noticed when going full AA on petro I couldn't get a CV in game, but non AA build there was a CV almost every game. I repeated the test and got the same result. Conclusion, WG is running a script to minimise CV games against full AA build cruisers. Disgusting.

Oh god, I thought it was 40% faster to count down while the AA was running, not a straight 40% drop as soon as the aircraft show up. This is going to piss people off when a CV attacks a ship and allows the BB to heal again.

Its great that theres a rework to commander skills to spice up builds and make people try out new things, and also a good thing that theres no issues or possibly shady things going on with commander respecing, and only half of this is sarcasm.
They need to give us more than a week of free resets.

2,000,000 potential isn't common for lower tier BBs. Esp when they are uptiered and aced pretty quickly by subs, CVs, and bigger BBs.
Still blows me away how I got almost 5mil potential dmg in a Bismarck game
If you use 210,000 free XP that costs more than 500 doubloon to reset commander skills. 500 doubloons 12,500 to free xp . That seems cheaper spending 210,000 free xp.
I hope I do not have to (again) rework my 350 ships!
They said there would be a free reset on commander skills. Either there's a bug or mistake. Because it still costs dubs or elite commander xp. Or they and are using it to sell dubs... I wouldn't put anything past them at this point.

Did anyone else notice at 6:58 the spotter plane timer reset when the AA stopped firing? It jumped back up from 1:33 to 2:34. So it reverts if the consumable hasn't fully counted down during the time the AA is firing?
At 6:34 the cooldown is 3 minutes and 14 seconds. 24 seconds later at 6:58 the cooldown is 2 minutes and 34 seconds.
Meaning that in 24 seconds the cooldown reduced by 40 seconds. The timer could be misleading if you don't understand what's happening I guess.

Except for Schlieffen. It does make the fast (but limited) damage control team useless.

@@ImRandomDude The limited use DCP is now way less avantageous compared to the normal one. Having a DCP that you can only use 5 times but in exchange it loads 40 seconds faster (but with a shorter action time) was interesting considering that Schlieffen is an oversized island camper until mid-late game so having only 5 wasn't much a deal.But with that skill this limited use DCP only gain 24 seconds compared to the normal and you're still stuck with the same limit is less interessting and this mean that Ohio/Hannover/Preussen can push way earlier than Schlieffen/Kremlin because they're now less afraid of HE spammer thank to that skill.
They really needed more than one week for resets.
there's no way the cooldown gets reduced by a chunk at once just because something enters your aa once. what the hell are they smoking

T see any difference in any commander skills. All look tye same as they were before. What has changed? Nothing obvious too me. All seem to be exact as they were in 12.9. Someone elaborate, because no difference showing on mine.
Ohios achillies heal is the SS.
What I see is a tier 10 BB with one heal left 8 minutes into the game. And you've done 70k damage. You ended up with a lot of damage but by then the reds were rolled and it was just farming. I am not sure about these skills.
This heal on Thunderer / Conqueror.....

They need to get rid of sub sonar ping reset by damage con. That is such a terrible implementation.

Got ohio recently and i gotta say I'm not the biggest fan. Yes its strong, BUT it just becomes a total nightmare as soon as there's a sub around (even more than most other ships) because it's slow and the maneuverability is absolutely awful so i can't fight back or run away. Dodging sub torps is even harder because of that.
Considering your watching an unkillable ohio video. They had to balance the ship somewhere. Short range asw was their answer. If ohio had 10 or 12k asw it would be truly broken
@CheekyDancer55 but ohio isn't unkilmable, at least nowhere near how it is shown in this video. A game without subs and/or a cv happens maybe 1/10 games. Playing that aggressively without dying will almost never work. Also balancing a ship by giving it a guarantee to just explode when coming up against a certain class isn't the way.
But then again it's still wargaming :D
@MK-wx5vu fair point but with asymmetric battles approaching this could be an amazing build to run. Especially if the bots start that focus fie silliness again.

The improved aa skills buff the reload of your consumables now. Gouden and santander gain greatly

They will be rolling these back after a month when people start crying about it
I’m still not convinced that WG isn’t trying to push BBs out of the game. I really feel they’re trying to get to CV and sub-only matches. I mean, getting 6 subs and 4 CVs per match is becoming more and more common, especially in the evenings. Throw in the usual 4 to 8 DDs and there’s not much room for anything else.
