Sir, you are great human. Please write your biography. Jab bhi aap bolte hai, dil chahta hai ki sunte hi rahe. You have amazing personality. Salute sir. Be blessed.
You are very kind, sir. But I don't think I am the autobiography kind of person. It requires a huge ego to do that. Or then one should have some truly great accomplishments under their belt.
سبحان اللہ! ہر دفعہ جب ملتے ہیں تو کسی نئے ملک کا چکر ہی سناتے ہیں. اللہ سلامت رکھے!
آپکی مہربانی، حضور۔

Hello, thank you, very elucidating talk. Reminds us how hard it is for serious researchers here to find funding for genuine projects . I doubt things have changed that much even today.
Sadly, nothing has changed. You can get plenty of sponsorships to sing songs. But there is no support for any kind of research.
Quite so. I'm sure the more vulgar songs and dances get higher funding .
@@omerosdaskalos7708 I suppose so.
I love the fact that you were inspired by Frost. I like his poetry, too. Much respect to you, sir.
Thank you very much. What a great poet Robert Frost was.
Salute 🫡 Salman sahib for sharing your such frustrating, nostalgic and streif torn experiences in field of Antiquarian travel writing especially in Mountains!❤
Salman saheb aap bhi kamaal ke shakhash hain. You just had a reckless plunge into the unexplored field. Your humourous interjections, particularly in Punjabi, have made the narration interesting. Enjoyed every bit of it.
Thank you very much, dear sir.
Some times I think you have suddenly emerged from the streets of ancient Baghdad of Abasside times....A Typical Qissa Ghoh.....be blessed sir
Thank you very much, Naveed. If there is a story worth telling, I tell it as best as I can.
@@salmanrashid8880 you do is in your natural way....but it really is captivating

Much enjoyed, thanks Salman.
Thank you for watching.
Sir, this series of Sponsorships is truly amazing, and how you are describing it, is itself beautiful. I personally feel that i am travelling with you while listening these memories. One can imagine how difficult it was to start your career as Travel writer. God Bless you. I have your two books, The Apricot road to Yarkand & From Landikotal to Wahga. I also called you for some time to meet in Lahore i wanted your signature on these books. But right now i am out of Lahore will call you in next week.
You are very kind, sir. I did not save your number and have thought many times about you. Please do call whenever you are again in Lahore.
Great Sir. you have always something interesting to tell.
🙏
Amazing stories! I bought Between two burrs on a map from Lahore in 1996 and brought it with me to US. Love this book!
Good to know that. Thank you very much.
زبردست سر سلمان 👌👌👌🎁💚🤩
بہت مہربانی آپکی۔
I was lucky to find this book online here in India. And greatly enjoyed reading it.
I had tears when you said ‘saareyan nu meri ghurbat da pata si’.
If I had to ever tell the story of my life and how my wife helped me along the way, you'd cry rivers.

Ranza Abidi... What a man!!!❤
Great man, indeed. Abdi sahib.
Most interesting sentence in your interview is Zia murdood a word so beautifully used
He was accursed demon who destroyed the very fabric of Pakistani society. And to this day his followers preserve the tatters.
Nice story, very difficult to find person like you in present Pakistan.
I have been told I am rare bird.
A great many lessons to learn. My Lord❤😊
Thanks you, sir.
Lovely encounters and a great way to let people enjoy and learn. Every situiation teaches something to those who want to learn. Thank you for sharing. If you ever come to California, we will be honored to host you.
Thank you for the invitation to California. But as you've heard, I have no money. The US visa office will kick me out for being broke and trying to go to USA. 😁😁
Yet another fabulous piece
Worth waiting to hear you
Addictive indeed 😅
Thank you very much.

Superb explanation of Zia
Amazing sir, what a journey it was. You faced everything to accomplish your dream of writing .. ❤ stay safe
🙏
Your style of narration is amazing. I proudly own a copy of ‘Between Two Burrs on the Map.’
It is a wonderful book and very informative.
Great to know you have a copy of Burrs. And that you enjoyed it.
❤ love you
Sir you are a wonderful man. why not an episode on your books collection and of your house lawn/garden
You are very kind, sir. But that would be like showing of nothing. I call our garden a matchbox sized patch of green shaded by trees and plants.
Amazing story of your autobiography.
Perseverance towards your cause of research was phenomenal, your resilience made your way.
I know only this work. Therefore, there was never any distraction. And that is the secret of success here.
Wonderful. You must have to create a devil in yourself to be master in any of the art. Now I understand how an ordinary person became a legend.
Great, sir
Thank you very much.
شاندار
مہربانی آپکی۔
Please caption the episodes also. In this case, autobiography.
p.s. also your own books, mon chef. like the one you showed in this video. the only book i could find online from you was the partition book.
Sang e Meel publishes books so that no one can access them. 😁 If you live in Pakistan you can get in touch with Sang e Meel and order.
Salman Rashid sab, your and my ancestral city is Jalandhar 😊😊😊. Your Punjabi accent reminds me of my late grandparents
Good to know that. And thank you for being with my channel.
@@odysseuslahori Sir your comment means a lot to me. I am an avid reader of your travelogues. I used to wait for Sunday THE NEWS 😊
@@muhammadrehanmubashir1363 I now rarely write for the papers. Trying to build up a base for this channel.
@@odysseuslahori I've noticed something Sir, your channel base is not much which brothers me. A learned person like you who gives references for details should be acknowledged and seen. Literally uneducated people who merely comment on a place have views in Lacs. I think it's all due to the societal downgrade and lack of intellect. 🥴

Excellent and very interesting stories. But I could not still understand why you didn't first write your second book, instead of first one , to address the " inexperience " concern. 😅 ....
I tried very hard to write my tenth book first and my first book last. But it simply did not work.

I gather from the narration that you were already a member of the Royal Geographical Society before you embarked to England to study for your first book & that the society boasts of a fellowship list comprised of eight thousand I thought this number to be rather small given that the society was established in 1660. What do you think of this number- 8000 There is a chance of error in deciphering the membership of the RGS
The Society was established in 1830, sir. I had applied and been seconded for election as a Fellow and I went to London purely on speculation. I was elected because my friend Patrick Smethurst who had seconded me had attached some of my published work. I have no idea how many fellows there are. I know only that five Pakistanis are fellows.

sir how can we get a copy of this book
As I narrated, this book is now out of print. The last copy I had was sent to my friend Faisal Tirmizi of the Foreign Service.
