I see the comments from India, the hate for muslims has become so deep . I am an Indian myself. I used to feel the same discomfort when i first heard different opinions. I was very angry at all these people (chomsky, Tariq ali, arundhati roy etc). I wanted them to be wrong . But as i read about history, i thought how would i feel in early 1900s if i was a minority, Wouldn't i want security and equality for my family after the british left, wouldn't i want to decide for myself if i lived in kashmir. If indians had the right to self determination,then same applies to Kashmir.
I have since changed my thinking. It has been very difficult and uncomfortable, it is still an ongoing process.
Recently seeing hindutva inspired indians justifying and cheering Israel's genocide in Palestine, it has broken my heart.
Dr Hoodbhoy , you are an inspiration for me. I am preparing to be a teacher so that maybe i can help young people resist the hate that I was subjected to.

In 1947 Pakistan had 20.5% Sikhs and Hindus. Today less than 1% are Sikhs and Hindus.
India had less than 10% Muslims. Now India has almost 15% Muslims. This increase is due to very hight birth rate of Muslims and influx of Muslim refugees from Bangladesh and Myanmar.
Pakistan should steps to Invite Indian Muslims to come and settle in Pakistan. Pakistan should welcome all Muslims of India and let them settle in Pakistan.

I would like to disagree with Pervaiz Hoodhbai, sir in the 2nd half of the 19th century it was Sir Syed Ahmad Khan who had said that Muslims and Hindus are two different people and they can't live together for long, those who live will see. Europe has one religion but thirty plus nation states, if we accept the argument presented by Pervaiz Hoodhbai then there should be only one nation state in Europe.

Hoodboy needs to answer why the British cozied to Jinnah and Babasaheb Ambedkar. Babasaheb Ambedkar was possibly more politically mature than Jinnah.. After independence of India he became the Chairperson of the Constitution Drafting Committee and bestowed all the facilities on to the people he thought he represented. However on the otherhand Jinnah let down the people whom he thought he represented.

Lokmanya Tilak was the first to give impetus to the Freedom movement. Two people with opposite agendas came on the scene after him with his extremists ideology 1) Jinnah and 2) Savarkar promoting religious feelings. With the coming of Gandhi the INC became a group which followed a policy of compromise. By 1947 Jinnah successfully carved out Pakistan. However Sarvarkar was unsuccessful in swaying the majority of the masses as a result INC with its known policy of compromise carried India through our Independence till recently. The ideology of the BJP is no different from that of Savarkar.

I have contrary view to Dr. Parvez saab, Pakistan can never give up hatred against India or to their own land (they love to become Arabs/Turks/Central Asians) else the whole meaning of creating a separate nation/do quomi nazaria/separate civilizations will fade away. That will confuse Pakistanis more in terms of identity and again same mammoth question will come up, what was the need to separate 4 states from entire historical nation and make state of Pakistan.
