I think as far a design language goes there's not a lot of options, you get a glass sandwich and a camera array in a square, rectangle or circle in every phone made. So "design" choices are pretty limited. As for the display I think 1080p is a smart choice and more than adequate with the 5G power hungry modem onboard.

I'm so glad that LG has come away from the iPhone notch design I hope and now going with the Teardrop notch design which is way way better it brings back sort of a full screen experience of the old LG V-series of the V10 an V20 that I've owned in the past the LG V50 is a really really nice phone just like the G8X I would definitely buy it anyway nuff respect to Joshua Vergara👊🏽 dope video keep it up
@@hritiksauw4226 I wouldn't say the V60 comes close in every aspect to the V20 only the sort of full screen experience and the reason why I say that that is because the V20 has two displays the top Mini display with a notch on the left-hand side and the big display which is full screen the V60 with the Teardrop notch design remind me of the full screen display of the V20 in a way. LG is deeply remorse to be guilty making the V20, against all commercial interests of their competitors and solemnly promise don't repeat never more the same.
Hi. First I really enjoyed your video. You don't waste time at the beginning of video begging for subs/notification, like almost everyone else. You introduce yourself then get straight to facts. One of the most informative video's, well spoken, clear/concise/to the point. The main thing that stood out for me was, you asked at the end for us to subscribe, and I did bc you didn't waste time with useless irrelevant talk. Thanks. And yes I subscribed. Have a good day sir.
Lg mainly advertise in area where they are market leader ,hi end Tvs and consumer electronics like washing machines, fridges etc.Just one Roled tv is more advanced and worth more than whole Samsung 2020 tv line up.From best processor, best web os,hdmi 2.1,nvidia gsync,1m response time to best display. What is Samsung in mobile tech thats LG in tv world. While Samsung sell 600 dollars peasants tv Lg have insane 70% of market share on hi end Signature oleds.Just pure profit margin on 40 000$ oled is insane with relative low cost production and assembly.Thats why every years is record breaking for Lg electronics except mobile.I really belive that Lg will completly abandon mobile world, even Samsung ceo said that in 10 years smartphones will be dying breed.
Hey Josh! I just wanna say thank you for a straight talk review without a touch of fanboysm (if that’s even a word). I am tired of tech reviewers always comparing a phone that’s being reviewed for the first time to other flagships! You have earned a new subscriber, thanks to CZcams recommendations. I am looking forward to a full review, and hear more about this beast from LG.
LG still has not learned how to launch a phone....SMH? Upi must announce the price, preorder date, and launch at retail date. Why do you want to keep potential buyers guessing when there is so much great competition. Hire Juan Bagnell to do your USA launches, or an American that knows these things. I mean strike while you have momentum.
LG has done a lot of sensible design and development with the LG V series, and now the dual screen case is such a great new feature, compared to the more expensive counterparts by Samsung and Huawei.
I just got my V60 last week (upgrading from a LG G7) and couldn't be happier. Although, to be honost, I think the dual screen case just makes it to bulky. So I find that I'm using the phone without it.
You do realize that you have only phone in the world with TRUE 1000nits of brightness, there is no horse shit false adevertising like with samsung fake hdr brightness.
My lg g7 also works great. Great phone. Currently running pie with January security patch, not perfect, not bad. As long as lg sticks to the dac, for me their phones are the only option.
If I intended to buy a new phone right now, I would probably go for the v40. Currently priced for 350 euro, bigger screen than my g7, but not huge, oled, a telephoto lens, more ram and a fingerprint sensor on the back which I prefer, than a crappy in display one (like the s10). I think that buying a last year flagship device, or even a two year flagship device, is the best value for money. Buying a new flagship phone is a waste of money, you’re just buying overpriced phones with no major new features and just overkill specs to justify the price (12 gb ram, 120 ghz refresh rate, 6 cameras etc). In the current market I think the v60 is the most reasonable choice in terms of price/features.
I've got the g8x and it is beyond crazy for multitasking. Tech reviews never point out that you can have the main screen split again, so 3 apps open at once. So innovative.. When i want it to be ;) The battery life is surprisingly very good too. Dont see the need to change, and not to forget it cost only £590 😂
So I may be in the minority here but I like the device personally, it fits my needs: Quad Dac, headphone jack and expandable storage. Sure, it may face some price pushback and software update to the next iteration of Android may not be their strongest point either. Coming from a LG G7 though this will be a worthy upgrade for me, also probably by the time I look into doing an upgrade I may get a Verizon incentive as far as price goes if I wait long enough. I am surprised though they did not opt for pushing for at least a 90hz refresh rate on the screen. (*Edit: Now that I think of it, trying to do it on a dual display platform may not work.) I don't expect these will fly off the shelves like Samsung or Apple devices and that may be to my benefit as it may drive down the price again in the long term. LG DOES provide security updates often enough on my G7 and I'm happy that they chose to go against the grain as a whole in their decisions.
I can see why you're satisfied with the V40. For some tho, there are a lot of features that are worthwhile in the V60. I have the V40 and it's awesome but 8K video is cool, dual screen, stereo speakers are worth the price of V60. They are only $280 for open box or brand new for $370. Truth tho is I'm gonna keep my V40 and get V60 as well and sell my V35.
I'm in love with the blue one already. I don't mind it being bulky with the other screen attached, I love bulky devices. It may be similar in looks to that other phone that I won't name, but it looks like this one has a very good build in comparison to the cheap-looking other one.
Would really appreciate an in depth review of the microphone capabilities and native app. The LG V30 had a mind blowing app where you could set the incoming volume, add low pass filter, wind cut filter, record anything while monitoring it in real time through your headphones, and you could also record over existing music. The app was really complete and outstanding for a smartphone. I'd really be curious to know if there is still something similar, especially now that there is 4 mics. As an audiophile ans musician it would be one of the most important reasons for me to consider this phone.
Or you could test out the demo units yourself when the V60 comes out. Also tech reviewers never touch on LG manual features never explain it. So you won't get it from them. My G8 manual video mode has everything the V30 had and more so if the G8 has it the V60 has it to.
Difficult decision..... If I'm going massive, I'm going with the a20 ultra. That screen is beautiful. The camera is insane. I like the dual screens, but those bezels don't do it any favors.
The camera on the S20 Ultra is indeed insane, but we have yet to see if the LG camera can keep up. Obviously not in zoom, but maybe it will be on par for more common use cases, like general photo and video
Great battery, great screen, great processing power, decent UI, great features and cameras, 5G in all models, consistent performance, headphone jack with QuadDac... Only thing missing is updates and so far my LG V40 is looking great on that aspect. I get an update around every 2-3 months and the phone does not drop frames or slows down unlike other manufacturers... Great phone, let's hope it sells, I might have bought it if I had kept my V20.
Have to get this phone. Everything that I need in a phone and nothing I don't. Good camera, quad dac, headphone jack, decent screen. The dual screen case will be at home and won't be taken to work. Perfect perfect phone that I am sure no one else will offer. Can't wait for this to be launched in my country
V60 already! It feels like yesterday that I got my V30 brand new. Overall, seems like a decent phone (bonus points for jack) but I wonder how much you will actually use the dualscreen case in day-to-day life
that headphone jack is seriously nice coupled with that quad DAC. I just wonder how it will sound when you plug in a pair of audiophile-grade headphones
@@techfreak244 It works very well. Although I am not sure about the highest quality audiophile gear, I notice a huge quality increase when using good headphones or speakers in comparison to other phones
haha I feel ya! Got my trusty V10 here and still am in love with it... even had the circuitry exchanged after overheat bootloop just because I did not want to exchange it ^^'
A Galaxy S10+ in 2020. Oh wait.... 🙃 Anyway, I do like how LG designed the camera module at the back even when it eerily resembles the S10+. I always found the horizontal camera array much cleaner than the big lump on the Galaxy S20 Ultra. Even the teardrop notch on the front screen doesn't bother me as much as notches do.
@@carver9312 I'm just saying that the S20 Ultra's rear camera module isn't that aesthetically pleasing to me even though hardware wise it's on an entirely different class of it's own. LOL.
Well I got blindsided. Wasn't expecting a new LG phone. I love my 1+7t though. But I love music and headphones so my reason to purchase would be the quad dac which I love in my V20 with 10mah battery
Thanks for your review I am still in love with LG phones no matter what anybody else say ,by the way I'm actually watching this review on my lgv30 which is working perfectly.
I pick one up earlier in the month. It's definitely beefy. It has some serious weight to it. But the multi-tasking! I will have two split screen apps on one side, then pop open the other screen to watch video or vice versa. I'm asked "What phone is that!?" at least 5 times a day. Here's hoping LG will actually put out software updates.
Some fail to realise that this practical approach is actually better as you can use in various scenarios. Folding phones may fold but they don't do much more than a regular smartphone.
That blue and gold one is gorgeous. Reminds me of the coral blue Note7 with cold trim. It's a nice phone, though ironically because it's a mix of S10 design and Note7 colors. They missed badly by making the metal chassis matte instead of polished though. And too bad it's too big.
As a huge LG fan owning an LG V40, I found no reason to update to the V50 last year. This year the V60, while exciting in many ways, still fails to convince me. I'm glad we no longer need to deal with the notch but I don't think the in-display fingerprint sensor is fast enough yet to replace the traditional back sensor (which LG pioneered, I think). Last year V50 was successful in pushing the cameras flat on the back glass, but this year the bump returns, but at least we get a better camera array. The screen is huge which I like but it doesn't have a great resolution nor a higher refresh rate which seems like an odd move considering the competition. While I love the dual-screen case, I don't think I can futureproof with 2 "ok" screen. I understand LG is trying to undercut Samsung's price but limiting their most premium line seems like a cowardly way. I do hope many of you guys will take advantage of the new camera modes and 5G and consider buying this phone over others, but to me personally, this is another skip.
I like the looks of it! I got spoiled from my Razer phone though so going back to 60hz would be hard especially with other flagships out there with at least 90.
LG Flagship phones always come with High Quality Hardware blended with the best Software Optimized... The Audio is always very Rich and the Cameras and their features are amazing.... Price is also less expensive when compared to the other flagships in the arena.... HIGH QUALITY ALWAYS ASSURED.. 😃
The Quad DAC/Amp & Strong LDAC performance = I have not needed to buy a standalone MP3/FLAC player or external Amp/DAC combo for years with LG phones. As long as these features stay I will remain a customer.
Hey Josh, great review. Wow-we, this thing is big? But I still like it? It looks just like my S10+? The 32bit DAC peeks my interest. I may consider this down the road? I like the dual displays, it's very cool?
I enjoy the concept. There are some real use cases for having two complete displays and LG rocks it pretty well, if the last two iterations are of any indication.

I'm so glad that LG has come away from the iPhone notch design I hope and now going with the Teardrop notch design which is way way better it brings back sort of a full screen experience of the old LG V-series of the V10 an V20 that I've owned in the past the LG V50 is a really really nice phone just like the G8X I would definitely buy it anyway nuff respect to Joshua Vergara👊🏽 dope video keep it up
i have an lg v20, and lg v60 is the device which comes close to v20, being an awesome phone in every aspect
I think the V60 is definitely an awesome phone and it's been a long time that LG has got rid of that iPhone notch design I hope for good and sticks with the Teardrop notch design which sort of remind me of the old v series I would definitely buy the V60
@BTICronox I definitely agree with you I've been waiting to see that technology for a while and it still hasn't happened yet only as a concept with oppo phone
Can you hide the notch?
@@devoncalixte8194 I didn't mean spec wise, I said that LG v20 was the last best v series device, that really packed everything and was a beast. After a long time, LG did again with LG v60
ThinQ very much for this video.
I am a v50 user and the advantages the dual screen offers over a normal phone or a folding screen phone is ridiculous. This is a phone in a class of its own. Great job lg
the design reminds me a lot of my beloved V20
i might be compelled to upgrade to this
LG is deeply remorse to be guilty making the V20, against all commercial interests of their competitors and solemnly promise don't repeat never more the same.
Awesome
Lg has great phones but their problem is that they don’t advertise their products meaning many don’t know or have a clue that they exist.
So incredibly true and then they are hidden away or not available when your go look for them.
It's beautiful can't wait to hold it
LG has done a lot of sensible design and development with the LG V series, and now the dual screen case is such a great new feature, compared to the more expensive counterparts by Samsung and Huawei.
Great video 👍 Joshua. I hope LG goes great this year. Samsungs little brother.
I just got my V60 last week (upgrading from a LG G7) and couldn't be happier. Although, to be honost, I think the dual screen case just makes it to bulky. So I find that I'm using the phone without it.
I'm still getting used to this thing as I've only had it a few days, but I love the price and the 5g! Oh the sound is awesome.
It seems like a workhorse type of phone. Love it but my lg g7 is still working perfectly so maybe next year lg.
Ditto with my G8, which can be had for $300 or so. I paid $309 at launch, after adding a much-needed line of service to my T-Mobile account.
Me too. Mine is working pretty solid
Headphone Jack with the Quad Dac step back!
Decent phone, but not enough changes to upgrade from my v40
Battery... V40 user here :)
@@sidersproductions941 the screen comes with the phone
Totally agree
Your V40 can be upgraded going back to the V20, paradoxically.
LG if you're looking at comments. Keep that TOF sensor in the back and put it in the front as well for added security for V70. Both fun and security.
I'm in love with the blue one already. I don't mind it being bulky with the other screen attached, I love bulky devices.
It may be similar in looks to that other phone that I won't name, but it looks like this one has a very good build in comparison to the cheap-looking other one.
I love that blue and gold V60. Great video.
V60 looks like a better buy and innovative as well.
@@jvtechtea now you know where LG stands strong that manual mode cine
What country?
I believe it will be US/ Europe only model.

Damn that video/audio quality is master class
Josh, I enjoy watching your reviews!👍
It looks better than the galaxies because of that accent around the camera and the angular design on the edges.
Yeah.. I like they are not following square camera trends
Lg has done a great job .something innovative
V60 already!
It feels like yesterday that I got my V30 brand new.
Overall, seems like a decent phone (bonus points for jack) but I wonder how much you will actually use the dualscreen case in day-to-day life
that headphone jack is seriously nice coupled with that quad DAC. I just wonder how it will sound when you plug in a pair of audiophile-grade headphones
@@techfreak244 It works very well. Although I am not sure about the highest quality audiophile gear, I notice a huge quality increase when using good headphones or speakers in comparison to other phones
Well depends on the work , for me I think I will use it all the time ( inshort depends )
haha I feel ya! Got my trusty V10 here and still am in love with it... even had the circuitry exchanged after overheat bootloop just because I did not want to exchange it ^^'
Finally a worthy upgrade to my V40. Not even upset they delayed it by 6 months. And yes, it looks JUST like the V50 and V40! Who woulda thunk?
I am liking the new upgrades
Super nice design omg😍😍😍😍😍
A Galaxy S10+ in 2020. Oh wait.... 🙃
Anyway, I do like how LG designed the camera module at the back even when it eerily resembles the S10+. I always found the horizontal camera array much cleaner than the big lump on the Galaxy S20 Ultra.
Even the teardrop notch on the front screen doesn't bother me as much as notches do.
Do not mention this phone under the same breath as the Ultra. Are you crazy
@@carver9312 I'm just saying that the S20 Ultra's rear camera module isn't that aesthetically pleasing to me even though hardware wise it's on an entirely different class of it's own. LOL.
@@carver9312 LGv60 and Samsung s20 Ultra comparison now!
Nice...did LG finally included stereo speakers? That fine 3.5 is awesome. Kudos to LG for doing it properly, not only keeping it.
Blue and gold combo for the win. Love your vids man, keep creating great content 😁
Well I got blindsided. Wasn't expecting a new LG phone. I love my 1+7t though. But I love music and headphones so my reason to purchase would be the quad dac which I love in my V20 with 10mah battery
Man I got the op7t, switched and bought a g8 super cheap, missed the aod, dac, microsd slot, the side bar and wireless charging.

@Eric Y psh I'm still getting it since we're all doing zoom teleconferencing. Everybodys audio is trash 😂 need those quad mics
Thanks for your review I am still in love with LG phones no matter what anybody else say ,by the way I'm actually watching this review on my lgv30 which is working perfectly.
With Samsung's new Fold with a foldable "glass" display, I would love to see LG come back to a larger, more modern G4 design!
Can't wait to get it you did a good job with the presentation . Thank you. I hope they release it soon.
The phone i need the most, will be waiting for its launch!
Looks like a bigger version on my G8X Dual Screen. Great device. Viva 3.5
Loved everything specially headphone jack n that dac but high refresh rate missing atleast 90hz would have been great
Switching between normal and wide lens during video recording is important. I hope they have it by now.
Yeah, the lack of a higher refresh rate is a bit of a let down, but only if you've gotten really into the 90/120 by now
LG Flagship phones always come with High Quality Hardware blended with the best Software Optimized... The Audio is always very Rich and the Cameras and their features are amazing.... Price is also less expensive when compared to the other flagships in the arena.... HIGH QUALITY ALWAYS ASSURED.. 😃
It's beautiful than s20 ...n with qdac...it's awesome
I really love the lg gamepad where you can customized the buttons for easy reach and without covering your finger on the screen when playing.
The white pearl one looks great
Nice job Joshua. I'm looking forward to the G series.
I would like to see this with a Microsoft Launcher.
LG IS HITTING IT OUT OF THE PARK!
Amazing review Josh! Lg its very underrated i still use a LG G6 and works just fine with android 8.0
I'm excited for this device! Might pick it up as a secondary device soon to go alongside my Pixel 4 XL.
The Quad DAC/Amp & Strong LDAC performance = I have not needed to buy a standalone MP3/FLAC player or external Amp/DAC combo for years with LG phones. As long as these features stay I will remain a customer.
Currently deployed and can't wait to buy this phone
Hey Josh, great review. Wow-we, this thing is big? But I still like it? It looks just like my S10+? The 32bit DAC peeks my interest. I may consider this down the road? I like the dual displays, it's very cool?
I enjoy the concept. There are some real use cases for having two complete displays and LG rocks it pretty well, if the last two iterations are of any indication.
