In this series I am going to be covering all the characters from Borderlands 2 and Borderlands The Pre Sequel going over skill trees and gear. I'll be talking about what works and doesn't work but more importantly why it does or does not work.
In this episode I am covering Claptrap the Fragtrap
Boomtrap 2:54
I Love You Guys 22:00
Fragmented Fragtrap 40:27
Guns 1:01:12
Shields, Grenades, Oz kits 1:25:24
Class Mods, 1:37:49 - Hry
One thing you forgot to mention is that you can get the full bonus for I love you guys if you request a high five and get meleed from enemies in solo.
+PieTimes5 damn I thought I did say that
To be honest I thought you didn't know took me a while to realise it myself. Pretty awesome that its a thing for solo players

And that is how our beloved Claptrap made their way to Pandora.
The pirate theme song is called the 1812 Overture by Peter Tchaikovsky.
And just like in Military performances the Cannon shots of the Action Skill are timed to the cannon shots that are done during the 1812.
Tchaikovsky, you can't use canons as an instrument!
Boomtrap combined with a Jakobs shotgun makes for a great time. I had a lot of apprehension about playing Claptrap, and so left him last out of all the TPS vault hunters, but I was pleasantly surprised once I dove in and have him a go.
Same. I left him until last of the original 4 because I thought he would suck, but he became my favorite TPS vault hunter.
He does more damage with a torgue ravager. He is stupid op with the flakker. Even without the flakker glitch
You were guaranteed to get Pirate Ship Mode at 20:00. When you unlock a new mode, your next VH will be that mode.
"If u start killing all ur friends u might lose some friends..." funny how its also true in real life lol.
GRIFFITH!
Chris P. Bacon GAAAAATS!!!
Wow really? That's new to me
I play a Fragmented Build and it is godly. It is probably better for solo play though, since you do have to pull up the menu a fair amount. As long as you can go with the flow, and let go of the need for control, you become a beast as soon as you get tripleclocked.
So you just keep one of each weapon or what?
I was challenged to duel a wired amount of times as a fragment trap.
It is the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky. The Pirate Ship Mode song! IDK if that has already been stated or not.
I friggin love claptrap, he takes down the Sentinel sooooo easily with tediore.
Yeah the song for the pirate ship is the 1812 Overture. Infamously known for the Cannon accomponiment at certain parts of the song, and they timed the cannon shots to line up with where they would fire in the song, hence the slow fire at first but very rapid fire at the end.
This is probably the best build video on CZcams. Great format!
I personally like the randomness of his skills, just because it's something different. Also for any build safety first is good because Clappy already deals so much damage
I don't understand how people can hate such an awesome character (talking about the story, not the gameplay). I believe his backstory is one of the best backstories in the entire franchise tbh.
I almost dislike his backstory as much as Gaige's backstory. xD
Awww, that's mean, even for Gaige, remember she's Axton's girl now ^^ !
she is?
I hope not, in the Holodome DLC it says that they went on mission together to get Aurelia. So maybe it means that they are together ._.
Axton would never cheat on his girlfriend. :P
But honestly I think they're just friends while Gaige has a slight crush on him.
i actually like that glitch com (elemental damage, chance, slam damage, cryo slam skill, maniacal laughter, melee damage skill)
for a sort of close range slam ish build - claptrap's got like six frigging nova skills, and it's one of the few things that actually boosts slam damage, along with being able to add cryo to any kind of slam via a skill - he's got great explosive bonuses, you can group foes and boost elemental stuff with the quasar, slam to get to the rainbow nova faster, and getting a bad gun debuff isn't really that harmful if you're mostly using it to freeze foes or have massive explosive bonuses or whatever.
Maniacal laughter one of the best healing skills in the franchise.
Aurelia *laughs in magic bullet*
Looking back at this, the community patch makes two small changes that makes the Fragmented tree so much cooler. Fuzzy Logic is a 4 point skill, and Cryo Exhaust uses more Frag stacks. You can go down the whole tree using only defensive subroutines, you can make it ridiculously easier to get your melee subroutine, you can actually abuse Element of Surprise cuz you can cycle off a terrible element much easier and as much as 96% multiplicitive damage is so worth it, its just a wonderful change. Also Maniacal Laughter is a much better skill on the patch, further boosting the usefulness of Element of surprise. It's honestly crazy how much better not being forced to take Gun subroutines makes that tree
Oh, I didn't realize they patched/fixed the fragmented tree. I will have to take a look again later today... I guess of course things can change after 2+ years : P
@@freesupport2322 Gearbox didn't, to be clear. The community patch did. Ergo a mod, sorta like the unofficial patch for Skyrim if you're familiar.
@@bradley9037 Oh.. In my tiredness, I read it as if.. The Community feedback lead Gearbox to change the skill. Well I'm not on PC so oh well! Thanks for the info!
I also did some testing & apparently, Element of Surprise doesn't penalize non-elemental damage at all when an elemental subroutine is active (Which you'd figure would be a, no shit moment, but whatever). So that means while you won't get any buffs using an average Jakobs gun, you wouldn't be getting any penalty either unless you have a Safety First Subroutine, making Tripleclocked a no brainer if you have a Jakobs gun avail.
Combine this with a Factory Second class mod boosting points into Fuzzy Logic & Claptrap can achieve some decent on Jakobs guns without having to be dependent on OLT spam or a Shotgun subroutine. Also works wonders with Laxlife's Bekah mod.
This is a good review of clap trap. Well done. That you for not spending this out into 5 videos. Well done.
Coincidental Combustion deals 115% bonus damage as explosive.
I love the idea of Claptrap. When he works, it's insanely fun. Early playthroughs are pretty frustrating though. You get a bad action package for the scenario and you just want to pull hair out. I was within sniping distance of a set of badasses, no one within a stone's throw, and it gave me the meat unicycle. Not the end of the world when you can escape, but damn. The whole idea of a combat loop can get really effed up.
But then even that RNG madness can come together and be great fun, especially later when you have a decent amount of points to go around, have a full-sized backpack, and are now equipped to adapt. I've had a lot of fun with it recently. My turning point of realization in just how fun it can be came in UVHM when I went up against the Bosun fight. Had a glitched spitter. Hit VH.EXE, Pirate Ship Mode came up, and my spitter glitched to Loop, and I've never seen a boss bar go down for me so fast. I couldn't stop laughing.
This is what patches are for. Cuz when he's on point, it's probably the most fun I've had in BL.
Gun Wizard also refills ammo when you activate it, for everyone, for every ammo type except rockets.
Grenade Vent multiplies with Load 'n' Splode AND with gun subroutines (subroutines multiply with Load 'n' Splode too). That can get pretty ludicrous in terms of damage xD
Holy shit! Really?!
@@ChrisPBacon-xn9up (NormalHit * SpecMult * CriticalHit + SplashDamage) * ElemBonus * TypeMod is the gun damage formula for BL2/TPS. Explosive Element bonuses as a whole are multiplicative to the rest of the damage formula as shown, so Elemental Bonuses are multiplicative with damage boosts of both the splash (which gets buffs based on its respective splash alongside gun damage) & Impact Damage times Crit Damage respectively. Funnily enough, this also means that with Grenade Splash weaponry such as most Torgue gyrojets, Claptrap's second to last shot gets ridiculously strong thanks to also benefiting from OLT. It's not quite enough to overcome the power of critting in the true final shot in the magazine, but having that splash damage boost through Grenade Vent is still huge.
Time stamps are in the descriptions, annotations coming soon........
They are now updated
@@Derchlands cool
I'm barely playing this and your guide is pretty helpful. Right now I have max hammer and lvl 2 on laughter since many of my guns have elements.
I really want to see a co-op campaign of Aurelia and claptrap doing their team trees
me and my gf are planning to do that as we will be playing together
@@SHIGGYSGOLDENEXP It's great fun. Aurelia's companion tree is just viciously "Aurelia" if you know what I mean
@@bellystraw me having to be my girls sounds crazy to me

By the way, start with a bang is one of the best skills in the game, especially with something like the Fridgia. Freeze them, then the nova goes off and shreds them. You can literally solo any mob area in the game with just that skill and a Fridgia.
SWAB even at 2/5 is incredibly helpful for the Claptastic Voyage. Bugs are very annoying and hard to hit, but SWAB will absolutely wreck them. That + Killbot gave me a ton of free healing while fighting Eclipse.
TheSamuraiGoomba and at 5/5, it's great against literally anything other than the raid bosses
you can even use a level 20 fridgia from normal mode and destroy stuff
Love the way you talk bro so soothing
the reload sound of the flakker is so satisfying.
If you use one last thing with a ravager with 8 mag, you deal that constant extra damage. With the flakker, he can use it to spam the 2nd shot damage boost, but not the first since the flakker doesn't direct hit very often.
Hey man, congrats on 10 111 subscribers. Love your videos.
I think I'm quite the opposite when it comes to Claptrap. I really do enjoy playing him and like his playstyles, but I really dislike him as a character. I think making Claptrap a VH was a horrible idea and GBX just did what the fans wanted to see. He just doesn't fit the role of a VH, his skill doesn't even make sense story wise (how does he know about action skills of BL2 characters if he never met them in TPS?) and I get that they somehow needed to explain why he was the last living Claptrap, but personally I believe this was one of the worst ways to do so.
Anyway about the skills and stuff:
Maniacal Laughter is actually pretty bad in my experience. Claptrap isn't an DoT character, 20% is very weak and the health regen is almost nothing, because it's not flat but based on your current health and also because stacks decay so quickly. I really prefer BB4L over it, because it stacks nicely with Blue Shell and helps Kick Him While He's Up. I think the only time it can make a difference is when Rainbow Coolant procs, but that's way to inconsistant and needs many enemies around you. I would only spec into it with a COM that boosts it tbh, probably even just a single point.
Wax Off Wax On is also way too low imo. Claptrap is a health based class anyway so you normally don't even want to spec into it, but 5 points for such a low bonus isn't really worth it. Imo the only point to use that skill is by using Tediore Claptrap with a Chronicler COM which boosts it and already has a shield passive, so you're less reliant on health. But PSiP is usually a much better choice.
Kick Him While He's Up can be pretty good, because Claptrap has so many bonuses in FFYL it can be a good thing to go into it and when you get up you still have a bonus from that.
Also HIGH FIVE GUYS works with enemies that melee you.
Torgue Fiesta can't actually kill you on it's own, but it's still dangerous because it puts you to low health. The damage isn't that amazing either, but the ricochet can be nice I suppose.
Hyperion Punch is probably Claptrap's worst skill. It deals absolutely no damage, is locked to fire, is slow as hell and most importantly doesn't get melee damage bonuses.
Also very interesting fact about OLT and splash. So it doesn't work exactly like Money Shot. Never tested it myself tbh.
Livin' Near The Edge is another skill really worth pointing out, because Claptrap loves being in FFYL already and with this active at max capacity (because of 0 health and 0 shields in FFYL) you REALLY get to insane amounts of DPS.
About the Subroutines, I hate the RNG as well but I think the bonuses as well as all the regular good skills in the tree are just too great to not go down that tree.
I agree with One Shot Wonder, it completely ruins Tediore weapons, but Tripleclocked is just so amazing...
About Death Machine, it defenitely is a great skill but as with any movement speed skill in TPS it's just too low imo. 20% compared to 60% in BL2 (Axton's Onslaught for example) is just... meh. I get that movement speed isn't needed as much in TPS because of Oz Kits, but still it could've been a bit higher to make it worth it. Melee Oz Kits for example have a massive movement speed increase and it's not like they'll get you through maps in seconds.
Also I thought the same about the Factory Second COM, it's pretty good for a Deputy build. But the Sapper kinda just outperforms it because of OLT.
Anyway nice video, Derch.
Also 38:05 I laughed way too hard at that "Woo". xD
Demonite i think the action skill itself is completely non-canon.
LynxGuard I hope it is.
LynxGuard Maybe not the Action skill but certain action packages
Demonite good ol demonite, teachin the masses. never change plz,
Interesting thing I've noticed, claptrap has the fastest melee speed
Dear Derch,
may I bring up an off-topic here?
I am so satisfied by those whistling songs that you used as background music. They are so freaking amazing! Would you please provide the song list containing these fantastic whistling melodies. I will so appreciate that if you can do so.
still no luck finding these :p
derch exploring the final frontier
I'm sorry I said your lightsaber guide wasn't a lightsaber, it is, and your videos are awesome, I hope you have a good day.
the podcast idea is freaking cool
I remember it took me a long time to realise that you could go above 5/5. when I did I was so excited!
7:48 "doesn't seem to be worth 500 points" :p
Ha I noticed that but didn't want to upset him
Good Dershbag adds timestamps in description. 10/10
I don't know what you are talking about I totally didn't copy and paste it from the gaige video and forget to change it all........... I have no idea what you are talking about
I don't know what you are talking about. I didn't say anything about Gaige, she isn't even in this game! What?
Stuff by Zsoki he copy and pasted timestamps from the gaige video and then changed them
Bro, I honestly do not understand how you do not have more followers!!!
I loved using clappy with a ice teodore smg so much fun reloading blowing shit up and freezint
I have to say I'm fully in the "Safety First as a standalone skill" camp. When you're stacking explosive damage effectively you really don't notice that -15%, and he has other ways of dealing with enemies anyway(I mob with the Fridgia/SWAB combo). The shield buff far outclasses the health one from my experience, but they're both nice and give a great deal of survivability on their own.
The randomness of VH.exe is also overstated IMO, the worst of the Action Packages are contained in the skill tree itself and can be safely avoided, and once you get a feel for the triggers you can proc Pirate Ship Mode fairly consistently; your health seems to take priority over most of the other factors. As long as I'm below health gate and have a strong enemy presence on-screen, I can usually get it no problem. Besides, anything that gives you a free health refill is hard to say no to anyway.
I finally will attempt a claptrap playthrough my take he's a unique character forcing to adapt and change your play style. He seems like a frustrating at times but fun character to play.
For 1:36:52, regarding the bomber oz kit.. As amazing the free grenade chance is, using it with the skill "grenade vent" glitches the kit. Using both cancels the free chance, but you still get the grenade damage. I haven't done a lot of testing on it, but you may need to respec and/or re-equip the oz kit.
Unfortunately, this is also the case with Jack: using the bomber oz kit with the skill "marginal benefit" negates the free grenade chance.
Not sure if this was fixed in the PC community patches. This is a current problem on console, or at least on xbox one.
As much as RNG-y he may be, I find that the Cookie Cutter Fragtrap build is by far THE most consistent (and fun!) build in the ENTIRE game.
Take away all the RNG, stick in all the buffs and explosive goodness = OP as fuck
I'm a fan of the TORGUE shotguns coincidentally claptrap also works well with explosives so I love playing claptrap
I recently discovered that bullets that bounce off of you seem to trigger OLT (It may have also been Luck Cannon's ability). I was holding my Luck Cannon and I heard OLT trigger even though I didn't actually shoot.
I like the name, fight for your life loop. I've gotten stuck in it a bunch of times.
sub·rou·tine
ˈsəbro͞oˌtēn/
nounComputing
noun: subroutine; plural noun: subroutines
a set of instructions designed to perform a frequently used operation within a program.
Also one thing I figured out with Fragmented Fragtrap is when you have 4 guns equipped you tend to get a subroutine based on your equipped guns, elements, etc. It doesn't all the time but makes it much better.
So it's not as rng as he thinks? Maybe he should test because I like the tree personally it matches claptraps personality
Sounds pretty good then, might be useful derch testing and showing people that for those that are put off by the tree
I'm also fairly certain it will never select a subroutine for a gun/element that you don't have in your inventory at the time, so it can't screw you over completely.
Connor Lane Sad to say this isn't true
I got Launcher sub routines all the time in the beginning of the game
And the currently equipped weapon has a higher chance of procking as well. I will switch to the next weapon I want right before the frag stacks run out, and it works a majority of the time. I can't tell you how satisfying it is to pull out a launcher, then have the subroutine prock, and then take down a boss with just a few well placed hits. Thank you, Tripleclocked.
While shield subroutine is active, your shield recharge delay is reduced to 0. That combined with 9/5 in Wax On, Wax Off and purple Tediore shield, you're almost unkillable.
Damn, I knew Derch wasn't doing service to this skill tree judging by these comments. This one was what sealed it for me. I'm starting a new claptrap after I get my Jack to 70.
On the topic of Torgue Fiesta I use the same thought process as my explosived Axton in BL2. If my weapons arent just as dangerous to me as they are my enemies, I'm not interested.
29:30 "I have an idea!"
Oh no...
I never played claptrap. Started playing again a few ways ago (4/24/19), Wow this guide is actually helpful! I don't see myself going down the frag trap tree..(unless I am a higher level) currently lvl 11. Anyways, I now have a better understanding of the characters skills.
Didn't even think about possible changes that could of happened between 2017 and now 2019. I really wonder how many of his skills are changed since this video....
None. The devs no longer care about this game
I have no way to prove this but i have noticed that the more useful Action Packages appear when you activate the Action Skill on low health. This makes me wonder though: has anyone researched the conditions for different Action Packages?
You can put yourself in a situation where a certain action skill is mostly likely to happen but no guarantees
I really like this series. Are there any plans to do the Borderlands 1 characters?
Sorry for posting so much in this video, but I think you might have overlooked the Overclocker COM a bit. It seems amazing. Boosting cooldown improves his tanking. Death Machine is awesome and Grenade Vent is nuts at 10/5. It looks to me like the perfect Torgue class mod for medium range when not abusing OLT or pistols. Or you could use a weapon like the Hail that gets grenade splash and stack ML while still benefiting from grenade damage, where Load and Splode would ordinarily do nothing for you.
You do have to get subroutines, but you don't need tripleclocked and 15% damage debuff is nothing compared to all the damage you get from your skills and boosts. Plus, if you do get a good subroutine, you get 10 stacks for 1 grenade. You'll stay in forever. I guess this COM gets overshadowed by the Sapper and Loose Cannon, but it's still good. You could go with a blue without Grenade Vent if you absolutely didn't want grenade splash damage, and get +6 Death Machine, +5 Thick and Thin for good cooldown and a fucking nuts kill skill. Or +6 Grenade Vent, +5 Death Machine and use the passive cooldown on the COM to avoid diminishing returns on cooldown.
Coincidental combustion!!! Heyyyy!!! It's short fuse!!!
I don't get why everyone's avoiding Fragmented Fragtrap like the plague. Seriously, if you don't get the what you want, the downside is just a -15% damage penalty. When I'm switching guns with the wrong subroutine I barely notice it.
Tripleclocked, well, that's another story.
As long as you have a way to negate the damage penalty its fine...i think its pretty good tbh
yeah, fragmented tree is great. Just stay out of tripleclocked. If you're going with boomtrap skills, you NEED grenade vent and death machine doesn't hurt.
You that dude on the bl discord server?
now that was a nice trip with those gear guides,Derch. They helped me a lot and I found them enjoyable. I think my favorite was for Sal made with Chuck ... because it showed me that there is more to the character then abusable glitches. But all of them were top fucking tier guides . I'am excited about mentioned round table podcasts, that would be another good place for me to learn more about game mechanics from other Community Badasses. Or you can invite Gothalion and ask him why he is such fucking asshole ,that'll do for me.
I doubt he would join in lol. I really liked the ones I did with others and wish I could of done them all that way, but it was hard to make happen. Mainly because of my own schedule.
Wojtaz Łoles I completely agree with most of what you said. The Chuck80 and Derch guide was my favorite as well, especially as a huge Chuck80 fan. A round table discussion would have been pretty awesome although I think it would be WAY too late now. Lol. The only guide I didn't like was Gaige, which I absolutely HATED. Both parts. Otherwise Derch is my go to for premium content. I still love this channel, and I'm really excited about the BL3 stuff he's been putting out.
I like the luck of claptrap part
I love Claptrap. Defensive Subroutines is probably the single most loaded tier 1 skill in the game. You win no matter what it gives you and it's always on. If it's not the best tier 1, it's probably tied with Aurelia's Duchess or something Jack has. But we all know how OP Jack is.
Coincidental Combustion is crazy good. It's even better on a cryo build or with cryo guns. CC with Two Scoops is obscenely powerful, to say nothing of all his reload buffs which you'll be activating constantly with the Two Scoops. It's probably one of his best guns. Especially with all his other synergies for shit like Load n Splode. Maniacal Laughter on a cryo-explosive build is also OP as fuck.
The only random skill in vaulthunter.exe that I really hate is the Krieg one. The others you can control by not speccing into them. Most of the time, you'll get something decent when you activate his action skill, and sometimes you'll get the pirate ship or gun wizard and completely destroy everything. I mean, if gun wizard or pirate ship were his default action skill, that shit would be OP as fuck. So the randomness balances him a bit while still allowing him those OP action skills. Even the gunzerker skill, while not my favorite, is AMAZING when you have a weapon like the Two Scoops or Ravager.
Even the Krieg-like VaultHunter.exe wouldn't be that bad if only Claptrap had gotten a decent movement speed bonus while it's active.
Meat Unicycle or whatever it's called is 1000% useless. All you can do is run away or deliberately go into FFYL so you can get Second Wind by Tediore and other buffs and pick yourself back up.
But at least you can kind of reduce your odds of getting it by speccing Gun Wizard and Pirate Ship. Pirate Ship comes up a lot once you spec into it and every good skill you add to the roulette decreases your odds of getting a shitty one. The most common result of activating vaulthunter.exe is some form of aggro relief, and that's always good. Plus, his Zero VH.exe is insane. You can shoot while invisible.
Shit wat about the grenade action skill,
So, if you avoid all the guns and the elemental subroutine one you can get quite a potent Melee fighter....
It sucks you are forced to choose all the tier one skills
i find that the minions are the most common action package to get
fragmented would be soo much better if the koala skill could go to 5 or hell even just 4, if he could ignore the gun protos and the others further down so just be switching from melee to health or sheilds it would be alot better
1:00:13 ''shocking isnt it?'' HAHAHAHAHAHA
If Fuzzy Logic was a 4 or 5 point skill, the fragmented skilltree would be perfect, in my opinion. If you want just guns, go with guns, or maybe you want melee, sure, but you still have to pick health and shields. The issue is All the guns adds too many subroutines.
The other change I'd make is adding the ammo refill Gun Wizard has at it's end to One Shot Wonder and Funzerker. That and the grenade and cryo slam chaning 10 stacks instead of 5.
Have you tried playing around with the TPS UCP? Because in that mod, Fuzzy Logic is changed to being a 4-pointer & thus you can pick between Shield/Gun subroutines rather than being forced to both.
So does putting a point in a skill that provides you with a new action package guarantee you that action package the next time you use your action skill or was that just pure luck?
yes
what happened at 59:24 was really funny to me
+EXPLODI FIER was that the fall?
Yep that was funny you found a weird glitch
Hello. I very much enjoy your content. You seem like the type of person that wants to get things right. I hope that you add the difference between "clip" and "magazine" in your repretoire. I'm a veteran with many years over seas. A Clip is meant to retain ammo until it is inserted into the Magazine. Just a minor point but it annoys us veterans. Keep up the awesome work, man.
So derch, you spoke highly of his explosive tree and I am now deciding whether or not to do a playthrough as him, but I was wondering what you favorite explosive character is. Do you have a favorite? or do you just prefer regular gun damage and such? thanks for reading.
+Rafael Marcom I'm not not huge on torgue stuff to be honest
Derch understandable, you seem like a gunplay kinda person in your vids anyhow. Thanks for the reply!
I do almost exclusively Torgue builds and my favorite Torgue character is Zero because of two fang, killer and velocity. Claptrap is probably 2nd.
TheSamuraiGoomba you know axton exist right?
I REQUIRE KNOWLEDGE, if anyone knows, if i play claptrap and get one shot wonder with a jackobs rifle and get a crit, how much damage does it do? as in what's the multiplier and stuff can we one shot some bosses with this? :P i'm really curious, because you can spec into a skill that gives an action package and your next one will always be that one, so could we do some fancy things with that? i think nisha has some buffs for jackobs weapons specifically on some comms and stuff?, basically how do we break one shot wonder :P
Lost Legion marines look like the Guys from Halo
I'm three days from getting my ps4. handsome edition is the first game I'm getting. claptrap will be the first character I play.
How does One Shot Wonder stack with multiple claptraps? If they all get the same action package would it add the bonuses, multiply, or just count as one One Shot Wonder being active at a time?
CysticComa
Late reply but whatever.
One shot wonder makes you shoot all bullets in the clip in one shot then you must reload. Stacking it would be redundant.
it was 4 times the damage from the pistol, not 2 times the damage
I hate how One last thing basically turns Luck Canon into a flashbang machine 🙈
Hes the only pre sequel character I play
Could you pls make guides like these for Borderlands 1 remaster?
Fragmented Fragtrap would be pretty good if they just removed the penalty’s or significantly lowered them
try having only around 3 guntypes equipped with an empty inventory, that might work with the subroutines
emphasis on might
except his point was it doesn't work that way
he even said 'it would be better if it worked with the guns you have, but it doesn't'
it's just random.
Chakofsky's 10th overture I believe is what it's called might have butchered the dude's name tho
My only problem with clap trap is that he is (imo) better for solo, yet he has an entire co-op tree
Load and spload is multiplicative according to the wiki
sometimes when I'm struggling to kill something I just down myself and kill it in ffyl
I only play clap trap for the weirdness
I love when rainbow coolant just freeze the entire holodome and I can just go loose with the ravager
I get why the RNG, especially on fragmented fragtrap, bums you out... but to me, that's the whole draw of the character. It makes things more interesting when it forces me to use different guns, rather than pick one that I think is awesome and only ever shoot that gun unless I'm out of ammo. I have 4 different weapons slotted with 4 elements, and that gets me by most of the time. With exhaust manifold you can just go slam crazy for those couple times when you get a subroutine you're not happy with, although even then I'm still doing a lot of damage so it's not really that bad even with tripleclocked. And when I do use the correct gun which is most of the time, damage output is just awesome :) It takes some getting used to but if you can get your head around it it's definitely worth it.
Just as an aside, why do you keep moving forward and backward when you're discussing and testing the guns? I don't know if it's me, maybe not having my day, but it's really giving me motion sickness watching you test those guns. And that barely ever affects me at all...
Ok, gotta say, while earlier it seemed to favor guns I had equiped, tonight I was playing in coop and regularly had to swap out weapons from my inv which is a major pain in the butt in combat... now tempted to kick the tree to the curb after all... I wish they had somehow limited the randomness so you could at least have the right weapons equiped, it really sucks in multiplayer since you can't swap out weapons without getting shot to hell.
Hmm... Knowing how damage reduction works, I wonder how much Pain Simulator is Painful actually increases your actual health?...
Damage Reduction
1/1.2 = 83.3% (repeating)
130%hp /.833 (repeating) = 156%ehp
It gives you 56% more health, effectively.
Combine it with All the things are awesome, though...
155%hp /.833 (repeating) = 186%ehp
They give you 86% more health, effectively, solo.
185%hp /.833 (repeating) = 222%ehp
Good god, ten perk points for +122%ehp... Can these skill be boosted?!? THEY CAN!!
Level 11 PSiP Damage Reduction
1/1.355 = 73.8%
166%hp / .738 = 225%ehp
Level 11 PSiP w/Lv. 5 ETiA 4-Player
221%hp / .738 = 299%ehp
10 points for 3x the normal health... Coupled with %hp based health regen... Jeeze...
could you imagine Nisha with one hit wonder!?
who's more fun; clap or jack? I'm playing as a lvl 17 jack right now.
its subjective.
depends on you, some people are really liking the idea of claptrap's randomness/explosiveness/etc.
some people are a lot more interested in the shit jack can do.
Hate the Fragtrap tree, it’s essentially saying you’re gonna suck at something... and it’s almost always gonna be with a gun...
I had the same Spadroon situation on my Athena XD #Spunkyistheworstnurse
what i want to see i bl3 is a skill that increases splash radius
I would love that
I'm curious what are some ideas for skill tress you would like to seeDerch
I would like to see more brand/weapon type skill trees. I love zer0 and Aurelia's Sniper trees or Melee trees on Krieg or Zer0. I would like to see more things like that. Jack with a bit of Hyperion skill and com was cool, expansion on that. Axton was said to be the AR character but he only had one skill that boosted mag size and a ok com. I would like to see an entire AR skill tree or pistol or shotgun, etc..... Also I would love to see a Jakobs tree (nisha was close), and more vendor stuff.
I just want my Torgue Allegiance skill trees. Clappy was very close, but no bullet speed!
Congrats, you predicted the future
How does the luck cannon do with one shot wonder?
Hunter Phillips that sucks
so, the random bullshit tree is really fantastic in singleplayer, becuase you can abuse the pausing on opening your inventory to always have the right guns
do you ever plan skill tree videos on borderlands 1
bl1 rerelease is sorta around the corner, that might given him some interest in doing that, till bl3 comes out.
Well that was fast
+PJayDavis what was?
I asked about a Claptrap Skill Tree Guide a few days ago on your Prazma Cannon video, I guess I wasn't expecting it that quickly.
I avoid using claptrap's action skill, because it can screw u over, other than that he is a pretty good vault hunter.
I never rely on his action skill unless I need emergency health restore. Imagine getting gun wizard in the middle of a mob wave, God its an instant disaster for you
How do you get all those glitch weapons. I only got 2 glitches weapons when playing the dlc.
keep playing the dlc? farm bosses, not so much their drops, as the chests past them tend to have a high chance of dropping glitch weapons. iirc. also potentially getting dlc legendaries to be able to grind a dlc legendary.
As usual, farm chests many times within the dlc
Claptrap would be so much more appealing if you could put 5 points in fuzzy logic
52:16 This one shouldn't have given you penalties for wrong element
Didn't bring Hoyle for this one Derch? Also I agree Repulsive definitely doesn't seem too be worth 500 points lmao! 7:44
chaosmark101 lol that cracked me up
chaosmark101 Idk, at that point you'd blast enemies straight off the map. It'd be pretty broken
HAHAHAHAHAHAAH Good point Didn't think of that X)
