Graver and the Department of Defense decide the best option is to instigate a war between the major cartels, and Graver recruits operative Alejandro Gillick for the mission. In Mexico City, Alejandro and his team of operatives shoot the other men as Alejandro goes after Diaz, a high-profile lawyer of the Matamoros cartel in Mexico City. He shoots him twice to bring him down, and he tosses Diaz a pair of glasses to look upon his killer. Alejandro removes his mask, bids Diaz farewell, and unloads his gun into him.

What’s the movie Sicario: Day of the Soldado about?
A suicide attack kills 15 people in a Kansas City supermarket. The investigation concludes that the suicide bombers were aided by human smugglers on the U.S.-Mexico border, a region in the hands of drug traffickers. On missions in Djibouti and Somalia, Matt Graver (Josh Brolin from Hollow Man and Avengers) is again sent to the region, on a mission orchestrated in the shadows by the CIA. Matt once again calls upon Alejandro Gillick (Benicio del Toro from Traffic and 21 Grams), the criminal with whom he fought the Juárez cartel. Under the unofficial orders of the Secretary of Defense, Matt must create a war between the cartels so that they destroy themselves. After murdering a Matamoros gang lawyer in Mexico City, Gillick and Matt kidnap Isabela (Isabela Merced from Transformers: The Last Knight), the daughter of cartel leader Carlos Reyes, in a false flag operation. However, things don't go as planned and Gillick soon finds himself alone fighting for his and Isabela's survival, abandoned by the U.S. government and hunted by the Mexican cartels. Isabela Reyes is finally found and taken back by Matt Graver who brings her back to the United States by helicopter. She becomes protected by the witness protection law. She thus escapes the planned massacre of the total cleanup in Mexico that was previously ordered by the CIA to Matt Graver and his task force.

LOVE 2:36 the small detail of this guy stealing hotel soap. Like how Brolin's character wears crocs. Or the other soldiers just looking like dads in caps and sunglasses. The realization that cold killers are still very human and do very 'normal' people things. So much more unsettling than someone emotionless and alien.

Even though Alejandro could have shot him once in the head,he made it a sloppy hit,so the other cartels would have over reacted and thought it was a rival cartel.
While true but you’d be surprised at how cartels operate when’s its not personal they can’t tend to show high tactical proficiency they have paramilitary forces with PMC military intelligence spec ops capabilities or so I think at least it’s why they gave the Mexican army so far the hammer of course alongside the rampant corruption

I was in Recon in The Corps at the end of Vietnam and had a few brushes with black ops/agency guys and the way these guys carry themselves and their banter is pretty spot on to what I saw. Whoever was advising/training the actors in this movie did a very good job...Semper Fi, 1st Recon Battalion, Swift Silent Deadly.

@@stefanstefanov8177 It can roll back since they were more than likely in drive but on the brakes when stoped and killed. The vehicle was on a slight gradient even autos can roll with gravity if not putt in park or given enough gas to counteract gravity.
@@slumygoat This model started 2006 and only came with the 7Gtronic gearbox, it can't roll back in drive even on the steepest incline, from experience, I guess with some gearboxes its a possibility

Technically it's not stealing. The soap is included in the room's price. The hotel does not care if you use up the soap before you leave or just take the bottle with you.
When Alejandro asked who their going to war with and Brolin said 'everyone' I literally got chills.

It's foreshadowing that at least that character taking the soap knows the next part to their plan isn't going to go as planned hence in case he has to bail out he feels like he has a back up plan, it's shows the level of difference as well as the commander isn't continence planning, it's all go or fail in his view point

Considering the mission was scrapped after a firefight with corrupt police there were rules
Career politicians and administrators are rule followers who lack the imagination to understand what "no rules" really means. So they get shocked and panic when they learn what can happen when you send people to do violent things in difficult circumstances. Think of the US intervention in Somalia which ended with the Black Hawk Down incident.
But the really naïve are the people like Josh Brolin's characters who think this time, this time the politicians/administrators really do mean there are no rules.
As in the scene in 'Narcos' where Pacho Herrera kills Leon while packing his stuff and taking the towels from the cheap hotel room before leaving Miami, here in 'Sicario, Day of the Soldado' the operative character 'Steve Forsing' is seen packing his stuff and taking all the shampoo and body lotions from their expensive hotel room in Mexico City. 😁

He isn't stealing the soap, it's a symbol for entering into a situation where it's truly new, like going into the wilderness you pack supplies you may need, he's bringing soap and other bare essentials because they are about to enter the wilderness, a no man lands from their point of view as they can't be captured or stopped so it's literally a sign to show that this can go haywire very quickly where your making a solo man run to the boarder if this thing falls apart. The first part killing the lawyer was really simple but kidnapping someone and making it look like someone else did it is a different game.

I love the detail that even though these guys are supposed to be Special Forces, they intentionally shot their guns amateurishly since they were suppose to disguise themselves as rival cartel. Questions might be asked if it was done too professionally.

I saw people like these in Iraq in 2005,they show up unannounced in our AO and the leader asked to speak with our Platoon leader or NCOIC,and they went about their business,back in '05 they had weird gear,helmets like the CVCs we had in our ASVs and MP5s or short barrel M4s..it was strange because some of them would show up in Blackhawks or C-130s in the Mosul airport..and some of our squads would had to "escort" them thru the city that by then,we knew very well.
