The fact that they're all talking about specific things, yet not saying anything specific. A great scene ...
Reminds me of the mission briefing in Apocalypse Now. "Terminate the Colonel's command... with extreme prejudice."
Plausible deniability
Absolutely!
It means you're dumb
@@r0bn0xi0us77 They don't need to know how you crack the egg, just as long as you can make the omelet.
We need the 3rd installment of this series
... it's coming ...
Sicario: Capos is (allegedly) already under way.
It’s coming with the 3 actors from the 1st one. My only hope is that Taylor Sheridan writes it.
Really hoping Villeneuve and Deakins return. I really enjoyed Soldado but not having those two (especially Villeneuve) was obvious.
If it ever happens Villeneuve needs to come back, 2nd movie was nowhere near Empire Strikes Back quality, almost laughable compared to the first.
The weight of the conversation in that room is HEAVY
Not to them.
Hell yeah it is!
Hell yeah it is!

So glad Private Joker went on to become Secretary of State.
Probably Defense or HS Secretary.
@@dr.mungusphd.3162 homeland security. DoD is for conflicts abroad , while terrorism against homeland, falls under homeland security. Since this secretary said the administration is adding cartels to the terrorism list, that’s why I am making a guess he is secretary of homeland security.
He was a contentious objector in Vietnam, now he’s starting wars. Amazing villain story arc.
Underrated comment and thread 🙌

Private Joker getting serious

He has grown up now…
They are so respectful to each other in this conversation but extremely disrespectful at the same time
Basically everyone is staying within their scope of support and reminding each other. It's quite brilliant.
You slow types are ridiculous.
Most of them know if things go south, it’s Matt’s head on the chopping block, not theirs. Sure, they’ll get shuffled or reposted however, they’re too high profile to eliminate outright. Graves is expendable.

You know you're good when the Secretary of Defence and all his henchmen gives you the green light to start a secret war.
Or, the most expendable...
@@frozentundra7446also, why he’s there
I love how Matt just knows they aren’t going to be able to see this thing through. He knew it at the end of the conversation but he tried anyway.
Because we’ve never finished anything we started….you always leave the door slightly open
@@user-Duke996 True enough
Loved Sicario 1 and 2. Very dark and sinister movies, great acting too.
its too bad the composer died. he did "the beast" in the first one

'Such an awesome movie. Brolin delivers.
Josh Brolin is such an underrated actor and he shines in this role
Awaiting the 3rd Instalment of this great series
I hope Alejandro gets that punce of a Senator in the 3rd one who betrayed them
3rd one? It's not out yet. Have you seen scenes or something? Do tell
Underrated doesn’t apply to him anymore.
How in God's name is Josh Brolin underrated man?
Underrated?! Starring roles in Sicario, Dune, No Country for Old Men, Avengers, Deadpool, Men in Black, Only the Brave etc…yeah, not so underrated.
I’m starting to think people don’t know the actual definition of “underrated”. How is he underrated? He’s Thanos!!!
And then they left him twisting in the wind, him and Alejandro.
Surprised?
They were both expendable even before being authorized the mission.
@@raymeester7883 Not in the least.

That's literally what the US does to its human assets and allies throughout history. Keep looking at Zelensky, see what happens.
2:40 onward, especially 2:46 onward followed by Brolins hand rub says everything. Every single person in that room knew exactly what was being asked and what could, and likely would, happen. The hand rub and the "...I'll have to get dirty" was Brolin's character accepting his mission, and his inevitable fate. If you didnt understand the movie just say so.
The half shrouded Mathew Moddine's face during most of the scene is just poetry. You could even say it's a callback to Casablanca's use of shadows.
Private Joker
Matthew Modine is a brilliant actor. His screen presence has always been uncanny. Hope we see more of him.
Pvt. Joker has all grown up to be Secretary of Defense.
The sad thing is that this is probably the most accurate portrayal i’ve seen of how our government underbelly makes decisions.
It's how every empire worked, works and will work. No exceptions. You rule with an iron fist or you beg not to get punched by it.
I don't know if I believe that. This seems far too competent.
@@simonphoenix3789 lol
Not with Magoo at the helm. Maybe with Trump, but Magoo will crap himself then wander out of the office looking for ice cream.
And it doesn't stop with foreigners.
Unfortunately, when push came to shove, the secretary folded like a deck of cards. 🤔😔😔
Similar to A Clear and Present Danger.
I hear they are making a third movie. I am sure it will be of the same high standard.
Hopefully about Alejandro training his new protege.
Who would have thought Private Joker could reach such heights in the government.
I love how they are all positioned around him like he's radioactive. Because if they are ever associated with him in public, the fallout would land them in jail.
Brolin at the end of the convo: perfectly balanced as all things should be
Military: what?
Brolin: what?
Man, I would really like a trilogy of this film series
Surprised Matt isn't wearing flipflops.
neutralizing your enemy is a slow process at that level of the game and you yourself have to appear irreproachable
Pretty much explains what is happening in the Middle East for the last 60 years.

Me as well
It's on Tubi right now I saw. Possibly Hulu
Never been more relevant than it is right now
Fabulous, ominous, and foreboding soundtrack.
in the end they couldn't stomach it and pulled the plug
Damn that's a great scene. All actors are perfect.
It's Clear and Present Danger again. We've seen it.
This conversation has happened at some point in some room
you make it sound like some remote experience in ancient history.
Then the DNC shuts it down
That scene was very intense
“Kind of” the same reason I was put into a high school basketball game back in the day. I wasn’t there to make points. I was in the game because I played dirty.
I doubt that a secretary of defense would ever meet directly with Graver. He wants Graver to get dirty, but would not openly admit it. Especially not to a guy who is trained to go to war with criminal methods and without getting caught. You would not want him as an enemy, if you have to change course and get rid of him.
Yea it's kinda likes it's a movie.....weird

My beard grew while watching this scene. Damn
God damn it joker you made me proud moving trough the ranks.
Do you think those tactics would work here?

Wow was this movie predicting the future?
Nah this was going on way before it went mainstream
Cartels have been involved in human trafficking for a while, including at the time when this movie came out.
Past. For millennia
They always know
Yeah it’s called predictive programming. They did the same with 9/11. It was foreshadowed in movies like the matrix and cartoons like simpsons years before the event. There’s no such thing as coincidence only consequence.
Love this series, def need more
I love this scene, imagine being a fly on the wall while a conversation like this is going down. Intense.
Waiting Part 3 Josh?
Private joker certainly has a come a long way since his time on the island.
Will they be bringing out a part 3 ??
I love the brief music as all of the people in the room realize who they’re looking at then it shifts back to buisness
They need to make a 3rd film!

Brolin is so good in this
Great scene...Sicario 3 needs to happen
Isn't that the Joker..?
One of the best movies we have seen recently, looking forward tae part 3 and four 🎉
SecDef Joker: "Show me your war face, Graver! Aaaahhh!!!"

Josh didn’t even flinch when he said kidnap the prince and the king will start a war, imagine all those horrible things he did in the past…
RIght? The secretary knew what he had done by mentioning Iraq.
Waiting for Bodine to say: “These drug cartels represent a clear and present danger to the national security of the United States”
Modine is so dark in this role. He makes a good villain.
"Dirty is exactly why you're here"

You did this sort of thing in the Middle East.
Grunts.
You think those tactics will work here?
It didnt even work in the middle east... but if you want to give me a blank cheque instead of legalizing drugs....
Not really. You can beat an insurgency in 2 ways. 1. Actually winning the hearts & minds of civilians and turning them against the insurgents 2. Viscous brutally. Comes down to the idea of is it better to be feared or loved. The main US effort did neither. So it was bound to fail. This proposition was different than the GWOT effort in Iraq.
Joker is getting dirty in his old age........
Archduke Ferdinand would disagree
He wasn't a king, he was the heir (which ironically is the direct reference here)
Private Joker is great in this scene.
3rd Installment of this series should be on Benicio's back story.
Trump threatened President of Mexico he would do such a thing as labeling drug cartels as terrorists when U.S. citizens residing in Mexico were killed in transit. (Why threaten to do it? Allow U.S. military to operate in Mexico as if it was a failed state) “Sicario” movies are preternaturally prescient, or in another way of expression: life imitating art.
Looking forward to 3rd Sicario movie coming out. Interested to see what themes come out.
Operate how? Like in the Middle East? Iraq is the bitch of Iran and Afghanistan, not to mention.
Did they intentionally make the secretary look evil and the grim reaper? His face doesn’t normally look that pale
The sequel had nothing on the original
