I was so blown away by this reveal that I completely forgot I wanted to see Twilight Princess HD and Prime 1 and 2 ported to Switch. Literally blinded by hype. I am so ready for this game.
It could be. I'm not too sure if Nintendo's confident enough in Metroid to have it be a launch title since the series has always underperformed compared to the other Nintendo franchises, but I don't doubt that it'll be playable on the new system via backwards compatibility from day one if the rumours are to be believed.
Sony's also teased that they've got some first-party stuff planned for 2025 after the drought they're in this year, so it might be MP4 and GTA6 at the very *least*.
same gunship as in MP3 samus had a total of 5 throughout the series her frist red one destroyed in zero missions postgame her second (MP2 gunship) used in Metroid 2 / prime 2 / other M and super metroid her third used in Prime 1 and prime hunters the 4th used in prime 3+4 and her final one from dread wich she reseved in fusion after she crashed her MP2 gunship in an asteriod field after she was infected with the X parasite out of her 5 gunships 2 are confirmed destroyed (her first and her second) and 2 remain unkowen (mp1 + 3) while her last one remains still active until the series continus
If the rumours about the switch 2 being both physically and digitally backwards compatable with switch 2 games, I wouldn't be shocked to see them giving specific games 'next-gen' patches like Sony and Microsoft did with their libraries.

But after all this time, waiting for the game, and all the time between three and four I just think it’s slightly a bit of a shame for it to be shackled to the very old old Switch hardware. I completely understand why they’ve done it. There’s a massive huge Switch user base so they couldn’t have done anything else. But I hope the game has been engineered in such a way that it can be ported to the Switch to with better resolution and graphics basically. I’m sure I’m sure it’s already 60 fps. Again though I would like to emphasise that I do genuinely think it looks very nice despite the elderly hardware - but I just love this series so much. And I want to finally see it get a lot of graphical juice.
Honestly, I'm not fussed about the graphical side of it, personally. So long as the game maintains a locked 60fps and is good in its own right, they could release it looking like OG Prime 1 and I'd still be happy.
The Prime 4 gunship design is not the same as the one from 3. 4's gunship is a different colour, the colour pattern is different, the cockpit window has been redesigned, the orange outline around the cockpit window isn't present in the Prime 3 version, the pattern on the glass of the cockpit is different from prime 3's, the nose of the ship isn't anywhere near as long as it is in Prime 3, the yellow and orange pattern on the front wings has been replaced with a flat orange fill, the shape and placement of the guns on the front are different, and Samus deploys from the top of the gunship in Prime 4 as opposed to the platform at the bottom in Prime 3. They're similarly-designed ships, but they're not the same. @@Shweelan I'm surprised you could tell without a reference to the original, but it very much could be the same ship (at least, canonically) with a different artstyle. This isn't exactly new to the metroid series as dread's ship and fusion's ship are the same ship, but with minor design tweaks.
I'm a stickler for noticing details/changes like this. I also don't think it's just an artstyle change and its an outright new design. If it was just the artstyle, the ship would have an identical layout and colour scheme with a different visual aesthetic to it. There are differences like the guns being different and in different places between games or the wings of the ship being different colours/patterns, which isn't something that would be changed if they just changed the artstyle. I believe it's the same gunship from Prime 3, it's just that Samus has had some work done to it since we've last seen it, which is why I called it a new design.
