  • We test the fuel mileage of our 2024 Yamaha FX Cruiser HO.
This is not a claim on how far you can travel on a tank of fuel so do not use this as an exact number for your ski.

They have come a long way!!! I worked at a Yamaha dealer in the early 2000’s back when they had two strokes!!! They are very impressive now and so is the price!!!

Supply & demand. I wish they were all the same price as in the 70’s & 80’s. But things go up. I bet if someone ran the numbers and adjusted for inflation we would find that the skis (Basic) aren’t all that far off from what they were back then. But, also remember WE ALL want more in & from our ski now. Technology co$ts. Therefore the price has to go up too for these additional features & comforts. To put this in 100% perspective, how many of you would be willing to sleep on a straw mattress for the rest of their lives? I for one would not. I have, and they are nowhere near as comfortable as the one I sleep on now. That puts both features & comfort in perspective as well as technology & price. Of course, this is just a point of view from an old man who is still a kid inside. Except, that his body constantly reminds him, that he is not a kid anymore, and that he is old. And if he wants to have fun tomorrow, he had better proceed with caution, and use good judgment. 😂

Not bad. We're down in Key Largo and rode to the sandbar in Islamorada. I don't know what to believe, but my guage was blinking red at 80 miles. Used fuel stated 11.9. gallons. I definitely put 18 back in. I need to keep an eye on that. Average speed was around 30mph with 2 people and a full rack with cooler, 2 chairs, and an umbrella. 6.8mpg, so im not mad about that.

Okay, thanks. That’s about what I have currently. So maybe a little better after the first service

The ski had around 13 hours on it. I did have a big tail wind to my back for a long duration of the ride. I also didn't use the "Fuel used" on my dash, I filled the ski up before launching then again after the ride. The dash stated I used 10.1 Gallons but I was only able to put 9.3 Gallons in my ski after the ride.

Close enough! We can’t be too confident that their numbers are accurate. I have been riding too long (not even a fuel gauge on my old Kawasaki stand ups). (That I can remember anyways). You just get kind of a feel for the ski before you really put it though it’s paces. I’m going to have to reach back and check with my oldest daughter’s first boyfriend to see if he still has the ski and ask him about the fuel gauge. 😂

So far I can say within 1-3 tenths of a gallon my “Fuel Used” has been pretty dead balls accurate. With that being said when I returned to the pump to refilled after riding I do shake the hell out of the ski several times to make sure it topped off completely when refueling.

My 23 GP was very accurate but my FX is about half gallon off after riding all day. I try and let the gas settle for a few and put more in. Usually can get a little more in the tank.

When I'm filling my new 2024 FX the fuel rises to the top of the filler pipe and shuts off the pump before the tank is full. I need to pump the gas slowly to get it all in.
The gas tank is translucent. If you take the seat off you can see the tank and see how much gas is in it.

I have a 2022 FX HO and a 2024 FX HO Cruiser and unless the gauges are off the 2022 with the 1.8 liter gets way better mpg then the 2024.

That was a good MPG test. Glad to see you’re getting 5+ MPG. How many hours on the Waverunner at the time of testing?
