This week we are looking to take on Romsdalseggen Ridge, with incredible views over the fjords and the town of Åndalsnes, not to mention pretty scary drops from both sides of the narrow ridge.
Nicola isn't sure if she's going to be able to do it, but we will take it one step at a time.
This one is tough .... very tough indeed !!
❤️ Thanks for watching and we will catch up next time.
    Nicola and Nigel

That was amazing and terrifying at the same time.
I had to remind my husband that we dreamed of walking the Andes when we were young - which we of course never did. I wonder why we didn't explore the domestic Norwegian mountains more instead. Presumably we were so used to running up to the nearest mountain top, which we did every summer - at the place we happened to be - that we did not consider it a goal to have in life.
Now my legs tremble as much when I get up from the stool as Nicola's did when she climed Romsdalseggen, so that time is over for me.

It was indeed both amazing and terrifying .. and indeed some more ‘interesting’ hikes to do … I think we all get used to our local and it’s only when we travel do we attempt new things .. it’s why we like to travel in the van.. that said there’s a lot of positives in regards to getting to know a local area very well .. see the seasonal changes … the different wildlife … both have their place :)

  • @eivindkaisen6838

Fun fact: The top sign before you started your ascent (3:20 mark) pointed to Coffee Pot Bothy.(Kaffikjelbua)
Not so fun fact (but fact nonetheless) the abundance of small rocks is partly due to 10,000 years of rain, wind, ice erosion AND this being the last place where the ice age glacier melted and left its lightest stones.
The ice age can also be seen by the roundness of the lower "peaks" an the U shaped valleys (they were not made by rivers). The ridge and really steep sides may well have been above the ice sheet during the end of the last ice age.
    WELL DONE!

If I had been young and fit, I would have made the trip - but you would never have gotten me out on Kjeragbolten, the rock that is wedged between the cliffs further south. It is otherwise strange to see how trampled the forest floor is on the way down. There is no doubt that there is a queue to walk this hike.

    • @TheTravellersCookeBook
