After bench-marking the store-bought vs. home-made card, our home-made card edged out the store-bought card in every category. See the results here: shutterspeak.net/build-your-own-cfexpress-card/

You benchmarks seem very low. I believe you need to run those benchmarks on a faster card reader to get more accurate results. I get 1700 MBs read and 900MBs writes on the cards that I use. I use Angelbird sx 512 GB and it cost $179 . I use a pcie internal card reader.

I'm diggin the trooper, but you need to trade that shirt in for a Redwings jersey 😛 My main concern with doing this is the added heat inside of the camera. There is a reason why they don't include m.2 NVME's in the camera at time of sale. I'd have to do a tear down of a Hasselblad to see how they handle heat dissapation. Because you are disappating heat from the case into the camera.

I saw this video around the time it was released and purchased a 512GB CF Express Type B from SinTech (in a metal case). 10 months later and the drive has failed today, it stopped registering in the camera claiming it needs to be formatted etc, doesn't register in the PC either but does show that something has been connected.
So I took the premade DIY type card from SinTech apart, and found that it was using a Toshiba/Kioxia BG4 (which from what i understand are some of the best 2230 NVMe SSDs to use for this adapter type, far more durable than Western Digital SN570 onwards etc). I cleaned every part of the internals of the DIY CF Express Type B card with Isopropyl alcohol, let it dry and it did start working in the camera, until i removed the CF Express and reinserted it, stopped working and started giving the error once again.
I attribute the failure of the SinTech CF Express Type B card to the adapter being used like manufactures (SinTech, ZITAY) but otherwise it did work amazingly flawless for 10 months straight.

oh by the way something else i do that works,
Now do you want to be able to record your 8K 60P video on a media 1TB that only cost you 149.00?
here is how you do it you purchase for only $30.00 or so for a CFexpress Type B to M.2 PCIe 4.0 x2 Extension Adapter Cable for NVMe 2230 2242 2260 2280 Key M SSD for Canon R5 Nikon Z6Z7Z9
what this does is plugs in a m.2 SSD Drive into a dummy CFexpress card B, by a Ribbon cable,
Do a search for that product, then you can buy a 1TB Seagate FireCuda 530 1TB Solid State Drive - M.2 PCIe Gen4 ×4 NVMe 1.4, speeds up to 7300 MB/s, Compatible PS5 Internal SSD, 3D TLC NAND, 1275 TBW, 1.8M MTBF, 3yr Rescue Services (ZP1000GM3A013)
Now i have this adapter and have a 4TB m.2 drive to it this one
Seagate 4TB FireCuda 530 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe M.2 Internal SSD with Heatsink
the SSD drive only cost $599.00 If you was to buy a 4TB Cfexpress B Card it would cost you anywhere from $1,800.00 to $2,000.00 easy..
You see these companies are ripping people off, they can sell these for much less the very same companies are selling 1TB m.2 SSD's for $150.00 and for the cfexpress cards around $400.00 to $500.00 Big rip off,
And The M.2 SSD's are just as fast if not faster and more reliable then the CF express cards by far..
Google them products and you can be on your way to capturing 8k 60p on a 4tb m.2 ssd for around $630.00 that is including the adapter i have 3 adapters incase, i just mount the m.2 SSD to my rig next to the camera and a ribbon cable goes into my camera with the dummy CFexpress b card that is plunged in my camera, you should check it out this is the best way and you save so much money i have 3 4tb m.2 that i use with this camera and it's blazing fast never had a problem, i recorded so far over 22 hours of 8K 60P video with this method never a problem..
