The Noble Steed! A Vintage 1992 Dawes Super-Galaxy

- Finally, I'm thrilled to introduce to you, the Noble Steed!
It's a 1992 Dawes Super Galaxy, which is something of a clasic in the world of cycle touring.
I sourced it on ebay which is always a bit of a risk but I think it's turned out ok as it appears to have been very well looked after.
Finding a bike which had the right features, was the right size, in good condition, the right price and local to me was a bit of a nightmare. Fortunately I eventually found something.
Whilst I had the option of buying a new bike, I think re-using and restoring an old bike fits perfectly with the eco-theme of the project.
It's going to take a bit of restoring and upgrading to get it ready for the 4000 mile journey but I'm looking forward to getting the work done.

I just bought one of these on eBay, great bike! a true classic.
Looks fantastic. I would say its almost the perfect touring bike. Tried and tested for decades. Just acquired a silver frame from that exact year and can't wait to build it
I just found a 1976 Dawes galaxy that's in great condition paid £69 for it almost completely original I'm seriously made up with it. Just needs a little bit of rust removed and treated. I have a brooks saddle but it has an original saddle on it so not sure if I want to change that.

Had ot checked by a bike shop last week. Definitely a 92, still has a 1991 Dawes security sticker on it (presumably an old one when applied). 97's look very similar but have a few more modern touches.
@@cycleforchangejames Wow that's a right surprise. Dawes must have stuck with the same frame details and decals for about 5year then. My 1997 is exactly the same. Happy touring James :)
