  • Welcome to Chapter 1 of CHOSEN. Chapter 2 releases July 3.
    To appreciate the Cleveland Cavaliers' incredible 2016 NBA Finals comeback, we need to rewind ... to the beginning. Let's examine how a fun expansion team from the 1970s met its doom at the hands of one of the most absurd, reckless owners in sports history.

      @SimuLord Před 2 lety +2

      @@jameslearing970 You can also trade pick swaps, as long as you keep at least one first-rounder. The Nets/Celtics trade worked that way (see 2017, when Boston got the 1st pick, traded it to Philadelphia, turned it into Jayson Tatum with the 3rd pick, and Brooklyn ended up with Kyle Kuzma at 27.)
      There's also nothing stopping you trading a player you just drafted on draft night even if trading the pick slot before the draft would've violated the rule. Kuzma would've been an example, but since Brooklyn got the 22nd pick (who turned into Jarrett Allen) as a lottery-protected from the Wizards earlier in 2017 (which they ended up using when the Wiz made the '17 playoffs), the rule didn't apply there.

    Fun Institutional Racism Fact: I'm a lifelong Mavs fan. In the 1986 Draft the Mavs were highly expected to pick Karl Malone with Cleveland's #7 overall pick. However, Mavs' GM Norm Sonju nixed it, saying the team needed more white players. Thus, the Detlef Schrempf pick. The Mavs lived (benefited) from racism and they died by racism.

      Every owner wants to brag about owning a team, and all of them want to win, but maybe only 1-2% are willing to win if they don't make a profit. The first team that comes to mind is the 2004 AZ Diamondbacks who lost 111 games after a dominant five-year run, just two seasons after winning 98 games and the division, and three after winning the World Series.
