- This is my 2009 H-D sportster 1200 xl custom with 12" 1 1/4 Z BARS APES HANGERS CHOPPER HANDLEBARS , Screaming Eagle Breather Kit, Rineharts slip on pipes. license side mount plates, engine guard with foot rest, live to ride clutch cover ,I also have a medium low passsanger seat but a took it off because i like better with out it , i only use it when somebody rides with me! i think is costumiize well . let me know what you all think, thanks very much.

Luv the Bike, Hate the handlebars! (always hated Z-bars) I have a 2006 XL1200C and IMO nothing beats the old 60's style buckhorns only much taller, mine are 12" 10" and 8"-ers' and a small windshield on the XL1200C keeps the bugs out of my face! The perfect street & highway bike! But the older 1000cc Iron-Head Sportys rule for for the rough road and dirt track! (have a few of them too, a.. 73, 78, & 82) IMO these are as good as a motorcycle can ever get! Chariots of the God of thunder! The looks, the feel, the sound, it all makes a guy feel like he's got a super foxy millionaire girlfriend only better!

my wife has the same bike and color. except hers is set up for ridng and doesnt have all the useless vanity parts. everything we've added to hers has a use and function that adds to ridability. but thats just us, we're serious about riding. enjoy.

I got a 99 but love the stock pegs. I cant beleive how many people change the pegs though. I got nice chrome and twisted spokes on mine. Check it out. Your bike is nice. great color.

@duende1845 the custom name refers to a few model specific differences from the sportster low. the custom has a 21 inch spoked front wheel and the low has a 19 inch. the custom also has different bars and speedometer gauge setup as well as forward foot controls where the low has mid mount foot controls.

Did the 1" 1/4" z bar ape hangers fit into the original brackets or did you have to change the gauge and brackets (clamps)?

Yes it is Stock bro! i love this tank, it holds 4.5 gallons. the peanut holds loke 1.5 suckss!!! but it looks cool at the same time
Random question and I know it’s been a long time...did you swap the front wheel? I have a 1200 xlc and I have a 16 in front wheel. was wondering if I can just swap it or if there is anything else I have to change.

@highridinf250 That custom paint! Their is only 500 bikes in the US with that same paint! The paint is Ice Blue, Thats why is called custom! The paint changes Blue when you get close and goes back to purple when you get away. Other thing about custom is the handle bars! 1.(When have you seen a bike coming out od the dealer with that kind of apes Im talking 0miles?
2. High way bar with/ resting foot pegs.
3. License Plate move to the side.

Awesome bike. I have a 2008 1200 with 1 1/4" apes where did you get that guage mount been looking for one just like it to put on my bars?
i like the sound of the bike, what modifications whould i have to make to make mine sound like that (dont have one yet)
hi, thanks for looking! yeah the lic. plate mount i got it tru ebay! and also the 12" 1/14 z bars also got thoses on ebay! the cables were special made here in town cost me like 100 dllrs!

Stop complaining about some one else's comfort zone on their sportster. I ride a 2004 1200 custom sportster. I am 6'2' and have had no comfort issues at all. I do have a single seat, touring seat and the original sportster seat, forward controls I've ridden many miles, raced against allot of bikes and have no regrets of buying it. I do have all the Screaming Eagle up grades so it gets me down the highway as fast as I want. I only rode Harley's and sportster are real fast. "Bare Bones"

Hey Man. Love the bike. I've been wanting to do something to my Sportster as well and I think I've found it. Did you have to get new wiring and cables for the Apes?

I think you did a great job. What made you get the Rinehart's instead of V&H or some other pipes? I like the sound and been wanting to get new pipes.
@highridinf250 4. Breather kit gives the bike 10 or more horse power.
5. Rineheart pipes witch sound like the way you hear it.
6.transmission covers with the eagle.
7.shifter link with the name sporters.
8.new wire cables fir apes.
9.I already change it to a solo La pera seat.
10. I alreday drop it down 1/12.

You got the 12" bars, what wire kit did you need was an exact 12" or did you have to get longer?

@duende1845 Yeah I think your right. Was at the dealer to just test size. I don't look really big because I'm not too tall 5'11" but my weight is 240. I wear the weight all over LOL... don't really look 240 but it's just the cash thing...Sporty's area way cheaper....Guess I need to keep saving LOL
