Ive never let anyone work on my vehicles ive had problems years ago and learnd my lesson, but you seem to know your stuff,i enjoy your videos
Just wanted to drop a note to say WHAT a great video this was and how it helped me enormously! In the last four years I've gone to my local guy for two brakes jobs at a cost of $900 a pop! I purchased the exact products and installed myself- first time I've ever attempted this, your video was really, really a great tool. I'll add I couldn't remove the caliper mounting bolts and ended up using a cutoff tool, finding the right replacements for the front set was a real pain. Again, thank you, thank you...
lol... love your extreme, exaggerated, and tragic "what if's" story's. Cracked me up watching this! Thanks for the outstanding videos and the humor in my day of learning on CZcams.
Thanks for watching!
I watched this vid as I was planning to do brakes on my Sierra 1500. I appreciate the advice with respect to the rotors. Another U-Tuber mentioned that these trucks basically go through a set of pads annually. I took your advice and acquired a set of the exact ones you recommended (the NAPA version). Brakes are better than ever. Over time I should not have to deal with the "annual" brake replacement (I don't generally drive down a mountain daily)
Thanks very much for advice. Who knew a 2 year old video would help me in 2017!
Back again with an update....
February 2019 Brakes are still good!
Probably will do a pad swap in the fall
Excellent rotors!
Once again thanks for the great advice
awesome video! the humor is greatly appreciated as well! I subscribed to your channel so I could do a better job of doing my own maintenance. Keep the videos coming!
Will do and thanks for dropping by. Been in remote Alaska fishing for a few weeks but back in the shop and filming more vids soon. Take care.
I went with these Raybestos R-300 rotors on my 2002 Tahoe because of this video, and these are the best I've run on any car. Barely even worn and zero warpage with over 30k miles on them.
Very informative man and good sense of humor haha thank you for taking the time to make this video sir.
+Near VII thanks for dropping by!
Fantastic fundamentals and inludes tool sizes. Very helpful
your sarcasm sounds so serious lmao it had me dying at some points
+Brian Hayes I have to force myself to smile sometimes just so people know I'm joking. Kinda sad. I offend people on a regular basis. Haha
10:34 "Don't hate or you will blow and die" HAHAHAHAHA Best quote I've ever heard..
I enjoy that every warning involves certain death
you are the best. clear, efficient, deadpan. seriously funny. seriously
Hey thanks for the complements
Careful there Car Doctor , you almost Blew up there ! Lol , thank you for the video !
wheres my wife w my 6 pack??? lol
Haha you're awesome, the mechanics comedian you are! Love it and expertly done!
+tisoy909 Thank you and thanks for STOPING by!
Tip : 2000 Yukon Xl (5.3 L)
To Just Change the Pads...when the Rotors are Still Useable...Only Take off the Caliper...using the T-55 Torx Socket.Pry out the Old Disc Pads with a Flat Screwdriver,Then use a 6" Clamp...ot a Caliper Compression tool to Push the Cups Back into the Caliper, Reload the New Pads, the Same as You Took it Apart : 2-Sound
Clips on the Outside of the Rotor, 1- sound clip near the Piston Cups. Then Start Your Engine, Pump The Brake Pedal to fill the Caliper Cups/ back into Position against the Rotor.
Do the Same to the Other Front Side...= Quick and Easy. No Need to Remove the Heavy , Caliper Brackets.
Always Use Jack Stands..!!
Your Welcome, BillinL.A.
12-05-2021.
If you use a welding wide jaw vice-grip plier it is whole lot easier to compress the caliper than a bulky c-clamp. Just squeeze the plier closed and let it do the work.
Good Video
Make another about Tahoe CONTROL ARM DIFFERENCES !!!
Cast Iron , Forged Aluminum and Stamped Steel
3 variants were used 2015-2020 Tahoe
also Aluminum Knuckle and Steel knucle
this thing will go into orbit!!! great line
nice work those really go d brakes in my experience as well. BTW those are also marketed under the brand Reactiv One at Napa Auto
Nice video. having to do some brake work myself soon on my 2002 Avalanche this helps.
Great! Good luck with the brake job.
Caliper to housing bolts-I just came in the house to look online because I thought there must be something wrong with me! Them things are a bear, I need to pick up some difference and try again.
I always chuckle a little on the use of loctite. Rule#1 all torque spec's are given in Dry torque. Rule#2 Wet Torque is generally 10% reduced (rule of thumb) but in all the different things I use the magic blue, red, and purple liquid on you never hear an adjusted spec. I guess that makes me a torque natzi. I never wrote anyone to get an official answer before retirement.
Enjoyed. Informative and funny.
Let caliper lay solo for wife, CHeck! Get my own 6 pack, CHeck! Trollollo. Awesome, I am planning on doing the power stop z23 caliper/ roter set when time.
this was a good video and I LMFAO at some of the comments made
Great video what year was that Denali?
thanks for taking the time to share..
CAR Doctor !!!!
Patient has a Question ?
Does the PPV Tahoe Rotors Front or Back DIFFER in Dimentions Compared to STOCK 2017 Tahoe LS 4WD
Visually only Difference i see is the EXTRA HOLES DRILLED in the HAT Area on the Front Rotor ???
Are these raybestos r300 any good
Well done Tim. Not sure if your allowed to use two different torque wrenches on the same vehicle, could blow up and die , HaHA
+Steve Rob Momma would not be happy!
good job well done as usual....
Crazy sense of humor lol
Well done. Thanks for the help!
+Raymond Marshall thank you!
Great video. Loved commentary. Question for you if I may. I ordered the Raybestos R300 with Wearever Platinum pads for my 2014 Suburban 1500. Everything went back together great. Suburban stops great. The question is while driving i hear pads rubbing rotor and when I press brake pedal the rubbing noise gets a bit louder. Is this normal with this type of rotor and pad combo? I just did my wifes Traverse using "normal" rotor and same pads with no noise at all. I was a mechanic in USMC and did my far share of brake jobs. First time I have had this issue is also the first time I used a performance rotor. Note: I replaced Caliper hardware, lubricated caliper slide bolt and all surfaces are clean and smooth.
If the rotors are slotted (and/or drilled), they do tend to make a little bit of noise.
This guy is a character....but i got to say I like that Torque Wrench u got..
Thanks!
thanks for the info and help.
joel mccoin thanks for watching!
great video...what's the name or part # of rotors and pads? I'm looking to get some for my 99 tahoe from Napa auto store..thanks
Check wig NAPA as the number can change. You can find these in other suppliers as well. Take care and good luck with your brake work.
so no replacement retaining hardware on the rear? i know u removed the 2 from factory but didn't know if had to replace thm with new
great video sit i really enjoyed ^_^ (muy bien) ! hi from Puerto Rico !
Thank you! Good of you to stop by!
the ball gag hahahahahahahahaha xD
Not that that has ever happened to me
Hello car doctor where I can get those pads and rotor I went to advance auto has the one made in India please I need your help thank you in advance
Thank you for a great video.
+Jim Goodwin thanks, I had fun making it. Thanks for dropping by.
awesome video...appreciate the help.
+Brian Backor Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for STOPPING by.
Nice video. But after researching thats not a performance rotor your holding, its a raybestos?
It is a Raybestos performance brake rotor
Great thanks for responding
Also I notice ACDelco makes specialty performance (police/fleet) rotors and pads. You could swap out a pic of the raybestos r-300 rotor with the ACDelco 18A925SD. Identical right down to the s-grooves. Do you think ACDelco rebrands some parts?
I know they do. The Raybestos R series are made by Raybestos in USA
Yes
2022 your my guy thanks.
How many people have to die, you listed a pretty good number of them. Good video, funny too.
+Ed Waggoner Sr. (Papatch) Lers pray this video saves lives! Thanks for watching.
Nice rotors. Great video
Thanks!
+The Car Doctor would you recommend ceramic over metallic pad for a Tahoe
Most Tahoes 2000 and newer would have ceramic pads as OE. I generally recommend what it came with for replacement. If it came with metallic then that's what I put on. I stay away from hybrid pads like NAPA reactive one advanced pads and the like. They will warp your rotors quicker than you can say pedal pulsation.
I recommend what comes with the vehicle.
How do you fill about Wagner thermoquiet ceramic pads
Thanks for the video! Is this a 2015 Yukon? I have a 2015 Suburban and am wondering if the torque #'s would be the same?
No, this vehicle is a bit older. I don't usually give torque specs for that reason. They can even change mid-year so I don't want to give bad info. Check out auto zones site
I had my breaks and routers done and it cost me over 1,500 then I had to take it back and I were told that it needed boosters which costs 595.00, with my brakes, routers and pads I had to pay almost 3,000 dollars. I like to know are there's a cheaper way.
Thank you for the video
+George Musa You bet. thanks for watching!
i have a 2017 Tahoe Stock 4x4
will Tahoe PPV Pads and Rotors FIT ??
what is the boosters
Does this video apply to a 2007 Chevy Tahoe 4x4
+Gabriel Nelson Should be similar if not identical. Be sure to consult your repair manual for specific procedures and torque specifications. Thanks for watching!
What did you torture the rear caliper to? Looked like 28 inch pounds.
LOL! I've tortured a few calipers in my life!!
Every heard of PB blaster lmao Rookie nurse
Thank you.
+Gabriel Nelson Sure thing.
I'll let this guy change my brakes any time. Don't think he'll let me die because of bad brakes repair...🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the video . I would like if you can help me get a good honda pilot 2012 front rotors i will appreciate it . Thanks again
dude your awesome
Did you get the ball gag replaced?
hehhehe
Jarrod Schulz, you're also a mechanic?
+Niccolo Machiavelli well I let Brandy do all the heavy lifting.
Very helpful, thanks for your time!
And if you don't get this work done right, don't come back to me when you're living in a van down by the river!!!
Parts man is asking whether my calipur is ribbed or not, don't know what i'm looking for..
+Chicago Mike if the brake pads are worn completely down to metal, there is abnormal wear on one side compared to the other or I'd excessive heat is obvious and the brakes are grabbing then replacement of the calipers may be necessary. Good luck with your repairs.
A auto shop wanted 2500 dollars to do a full brake job with calipers, rollers, and pads. I did it all with new parts for under 400 dollars and replace the brake fluid too! They gave me back 182 dollars for the caliper exchange. Show ya How these Auto shops rips people off! I would hate to see what a dealer would charge. i used Duralast Ceramic Brake Pads ~ Nascar Official brakes!
If you got 182 dollars back for exchanging the calipers then you likely got reman calipers just so you know. That’s ok because that’s all most shops would use. Glad you saved some cash
PS- I’m also an auto shop. I enjoy helping people like yourself save money. Don’t know too many that would rip people off but I’m sure there are some out there.
Thanks ! Yes the cashier person was shocked too! i just smiled : ) They even tripled checked it. They was Duralast calipers! only thing i go with is Duralast, pads, and calipers> The Official Nascar Brakes
wouldn't you say they was trying to rip me off asking 2500 dollars for a 1 1/2 hour brake job i use to own a hot rod shop here i done it under 400 bucks I THINK SO
Blow up and die doing a brake job???? What kinda brake job buddy doing...cuz i never in my life heard of someone blowing up doing a brake job....maybe buddy caught a flashback of being in the army when he was making bombs and blowing up shit..
Holy shit, this guys glass is always half empty. Everything with his possible scenarios leads to death. It's brake pads dude. not solid state rockets
7:30 No 6 pack VS. Wife's dead? (Scratching head, weighing options)
2015 tahoe
nice video, just had my fronts dome on a 2005 Chevy Colorado 2wd 5cly,,look up how to replace the fronts on that truck,,major!!! headace!!!,uugghh,BUT AGAIN NICE VIDEO,FIRST TIME VEIWER
+Josh Mori I actually haven't seen a 2WD Colorado but I'll take your word for it on the extensive repair. Worked on the 4X models. Not sure why they made the design changes to that S-10 (TrailBlazer) chassis and powertrain but every system is a pain to work on now. Hey I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I appriciate you watching. Have a good one.
If I'm not mistaken I believe those year Colorado's are Hub over rotor that's why they are a headache to replace
Torque nazis 😂
Noisy metal parts table 👎
Great video
Thanks
+mike tucker my pleasure. Thanks for dropping in!
