- This week we have a fun collaboration with Christina and Ryan of @TheReclaimedHeirloom where our husbands our doing the painting and we are doing the filming. What ensues is a hilarious tutorial on how not to paint a dresser. We both really appreciate each other's job a little but more and definitely had lots of fun creating this video!

The reality is real Carlos. These ladies make it look so simple, but the spills and what is that? Are real. Been there! I think your project was very large for your first challenge. It did come out great tho, good for you for keeping cool. And Blue is adorable.

This was so much fun! Props to you Carlos for pulling that one off because that was a very difficult piece for a beginner with all the wicker and stains. I thought the background music was sooo funny too! Loved seeing your mishaps and both of your calm reactions. I would not have been so calm. haha I expected Kacha to say hurry, get it off the drawer and I expected you to say hurry, get it off the power cord. lol I loved this so much!

Carlos for your first project you have chosen one of the MOST difficult pieces of furniture. Wicker is really hard to work with. You did an AMAZING job! Mostly, your beautiful character came through. You are a very patient, easy going person and it showed. The piece looks like NEW. yay! Bravo!!!!

That was so much fun to watch and especially to see how you two work/play together. The music selection was spot on for comedic emphasis. Good on you both for handling all of the unexpected errors. This was a slice of real life and you two handled it splendidly.
Carlos, you did great. There is a saying here in the south, " you can't be a man at his own craft". 😘 Even though you are the video guy for years and watched, it ain't the same as doing. Carlos, I appreciate your taking the risk of showing your learning process. Honestly, this was one of the best videos--it's so helpful to see what someone who is newer to this, like myself, might run into and the solutions--and how adaptable you have to be. And, that even when it seems like disaster--there's often a fix! Also, so helpful to see that no matter how many videos you watch, the expertise is truly in the practice.

Kacha makes it look so easy. I’m impressed with the job you did with the polyurethane, even with the spill. I have a hard time with polyurethane making my chalk paint look really streaky. I don’t know why. The dresser looks beautiful, be proud.
Just a suggestion, and a question really, what type of brush are you using for the chalk paint? Secondly, I have found on projects I want to poly over chalk, I need to wet sand with 400 grit to get a flat surface. The poly seems to show the brush strokes if I dont do this. Depending on how thick the brush strokes are you may want to use 220 on a block instead of 400. Again, I have really found wet sanding to be the ultimate in getting paint flat. Good Luck!
@@dandingfelder6763 yes a great soft brush or sponge and the sanding with 400 grit is a must between coats. Also if you get eyeball level with the surface it is much easier to see the brushstrokes while it is still wet and smooth out your strokes.
Good job Carlos! You accepted the challenge and didn’t get discouraged. Nothing worthwhile is easy, so kudos to you.

I loved the stencil idea, though, and I think the very faint look of it, was awesome. I, somehow, knew he was going to put the words upside down, or backwards. 😂 It is so beautiful, in the end. Please do more of these, this was fun.

I just watched this video again after many months of watching Kacha and learning from her. Poor, poor Carlos! 😂 He seemed to be affected by Murphys Law through nearly every step. I really felt for him but at the same time....😂😂😂😂. Took a lot of courage and humility for him to let us all see this comedy. In the end, though, the piece wasn't just too bad (from a distance). 😊 Loved the whole thing. ❤❤❤
