At 3:00 into the movie, I can't help but think that the Comms officer never thought that she would ever say the words, "F-14 Tomcat." She looks so young, she probably wasn't even born when those fighter jets were in service! *
I STILL don't get why the writers had to break off the nose gear so Mav couldn't do a proper landing. They'd still need to use the barrier anyway, as no way could they could on a working tailhook. Still, he could later claim to be the LAST aviator to land a Tomcat on a carrier...
Then the scene where he pulls doesnt give off much tension if the runway is long without obstacles, for me as a normal guy who doesnt know wht about planes all i was thinking was how would they land it cuz i didnt know smthng like barrier exists
@@nvignesh barriers were used in WWII to prevent the landing planes from hitting the parked planes, and also to stop damaged planes returning from missions. Later in the jet era, the angled deck was created; therefore, the landing planes were unlikely to run into parked planes. But you need the barriers in case that you lose the tail hook.

It’s all about paying respect to the true star of the first movie and my kids now know what a Tomcat is!

No tail hook and no front landing gear makes for a great Hollywood movie.

Welcome to hollywood
The F-14 had no tail hook because it was land based.
Then the scene where he pulls doesnt give off much tension if the runway is long without obstacles, for me as a normal guy who doesnt know wht about planes all i was thinking was how would they land it cuz i didnt know smthng like barrier exists
