I do not miss chasing them/me around the snubbing post. He also did an Old McDonald's farm setup so folks new what and where the animals and livestock came from in the late 1970's Florida ag counties. I still remember trying to catch some loose mules to get a rope and halter on and the old farmer lady hollerin' to keep them out of her roses.

Warren, I love your approach! "You used to be able to rebuild these"...that was the good old days, for sure!..When you described having to take the column apart to get the harness/pigtail out, I was reminded of some great engineering on the Honda Goldwing motorcycle, where one of the harnesses ran up the middle of the steering stem and barely had enough slack to move. So (as Tim would say), I rewired it. Bought connectors (not Honda, just AMP with enough pins) and added about a foot to the harness, so you could work on it or the steering stem easily and unplug or reconnect as needed and secure it out of the way.

You'll still be making over fifty per hour, watch as your competitors one by one go out of business and your the only guy in town with everyone else's customers. Then you raise your rates and charge whatever the hell you want. knowing you got those bastards by the balls, and within 5 years you'll sell the shop and comfortably retire. Pretty simple.
