    A better idea would be to have a detachable second screen that could folded away like the patent. That way you could have the dual screen experience on home or on the go, using the detachable screen whilst the main screen is docked.

    I fail to see how motion controls fall more into the "gimmick" conversation more than dual screens. Games built around motion controls are far more interactive and they're still around to this say. Though I hope dual screens come back, or at least the function they provide.

  • @Dosnmeda
    @Dosnmeda Před 5 měsíci +6

    My idea is, the device will stream the image to the dock instead of having it plugged in, then the dock will upscale the image to your TV. That way you have two screens, one on the TV screen and one on the device in your hands. You activate handheld mode by simply sliding it open, revealing another screen underneath. The top screen could have a 3D slider.
    When it comes to VR, they could have a separate headset for that. Once again the device would stream the image to the headset instead of plugging it in, allowing it to be slim and light.

    My proposal for a switch successor: Nintendo Attach & Switch
    Hardware Spec:
    Power: agree on Arlo, about equivalent 2013 version PS4/Xbox one or steam deck
    Graphics: 1080p30/720p60 OLED handheld, 1440p30/1080p60 docked
    Same cartridge slot except with a piece missing, allows for switch compatibility but new game can’t fit in switchs’ cartridge slot
    7” version sold for $349, with a mini version(5.5”) that have LCD for $299
    From factor/gimmicks:
    A screen and 2 joy-con similar to the switch
    The joy-con is modified to remove joy-con drift as well as the addition of pointer control
    The new joy-con have a mechanism to swap out the directional button for a D-pad(included) and swap out the main button for a GCN layout(layout piece sold separately)
    The switch screen also have a piece of slide rail at the top, allowing the new dock(which is sliced into) to show the screen of the switch
    The top slide rail of the attach & switch can also let the switch ‘attach’ other accessories(sold separately)
    e.g.
    A screen accessories to put on top of it for a DS-like experience but can also be held separately with plugged in joy-con for a more Wii U like one
    A front/rear camera + microphone accessories allows for AR stuff but also can be used separately with the kickstand for motion tracking/allowing the game to work when docked
    A 3D screen accessories for everything the regular screen accessories do but also have a 3D slider to allow for stereoscopic 3D
    A plastic piece allows for VR experience(not as great as PS/Xbox)
    Software/Switch Online:
    Street pass is coming back, this time used the joy-con to track steps and stuff using the motion sensor
    The attach & switch have more software features like Wii, Wii U, DSi and 3DS
    A photo app for some photo editing
    A sound app for play around with recorded audio
    A world news app similar to the Wii
    A weather app
    A camera app
    Mytendo: a upgraded Mii with clothing support
    Nintendoverse: Nintendo’s take on the metaverse, which allows for interaction for your Mytendo and also chat with others with picture, share flip note and have game community. This time with ai assisted filtering
    Switch online is altered to have 2 tiers
    P2P online is now free
    Base tier for $29.99 for NES, SNES, sega genesis, master system, N64, Gameboy and GBA games alongside dedicated servers
    Expansion pack for $39.99 for GCN, Dreamcast and DS games at launch, with Wii and 3DS later

      I think the graphics and performance would just be Xbox series S quality, Nintendo want to be the cheapest console option in the market(this is a key ingredient why the game boy, DS, Wii, switch and other Nintendo console succeed, no way they are not gonna do it). Therefore, no way they are gonna have Xbox one X/PS4 Pro or even PS5/Xbox series X power, they also want to have an option for $299 without much compromise. The biggest thing they are gonna cut is gotta be 4K because it is not necessarily and with current tech progression and the slow down of developer adoption to the PS4 Pro/Xbox one X/PS5/Xbox series X, Nintendo is still gonna receive a lot of top of the line 3rd party game and can last for another 7 years. I believe it will launch in 2025 though

    new sub, enjoying this so far, but yea just wanna say hd rumble is totally still in use and a legit gaming upgrade. In Smash you notice it, in TotK I bet it's there, see it's so good you often forget about how much better it is than old rumble, it's seemless and adds a lot. in the same vein, motion controls in the wii era and even to this day also add a lot and are legit/often better. I kick ass in Mario Kart using tilt controls, and although I could do fine without them as well, it's night and day how much more precise you can be with the motion. I've already made my point and will get back to listening, but 1st I just wanna say: I need me a 1st person shooter that uses the motion aiming much like the best ones in the wii era did. it's the optimal way to play, online or in the story mode, and I miss it a lot!!

      @robbiibobbii  Před 5 měsíci

      Thanks for the sub, WatchDoggyDog! Truly appreciate the support. You make a great point regarding HD Rumble. I hadn't thought of it like that. I will say, going back to using a standard rumble controller does feel a tad different. As for the motion controls, I will always defend the controls for Metroid Prime Trilogy. The definitive way to aim in those games were using the Wii Remote pointer controls. Glad you enjoyed the vid, thanks for watching!

Call it the Super Nintendo Switch and do a Metroid Prime 4 game bundle with the console for the intial release.

    here's my thought... I think nintendo will bring back dual screens (because it worked) the hook will be that you no longer have to dock, the system will stream directly to the tv through some dongle or through the charging dock.
    now, the screen will be like a clamshell design, for dual screen play in handheld mode, then you can switch it to single screen mode, by twisting the screen around so the screen faces outside, then fold it down so it looks like you have one screen... and "single screen mode" will be how you play dual screen on the tv. the game will stream and the second screen will be the switch in single screen mode... anyway that's my idea

  • @boltstrike2787
    @boltstrike2787 Před 2 měsíci

    I don't think Arlo's persistent display idea really works. Whatever they do to build on the Switch's concept is going to need to be something that can work in docked AND handheld. If you need a TV in docked mode to use dual screens, that undermines the concept. How would you get dual screens in handheld mode and tabletop mode?
    I think if you're adding dual screens, they have to be detachable. That's the only way it can work with every mode. When you're in handheld, it would be like a DS or 3DS, a dual screen clamshell device with both Joycons attached. When it's in docked mode, you separate one and dock it and keep the other attached to the Joycons and then it works like a Wii U. And then in tabletop mode you could do something like flip the screens so they're both facing away from each other or detach them so each player gets a Joycon and a screen. Something like that would provide a demonstrable improvement over the Switch concept in all modes and would make it even more versatile than it already is. So if they can get that concept to work at a reasonable price and quality, that's absolutely the direction they should go for.

    Switch 2 has similar specs with Quest 3 (which has amazing games like Asgard's Wrath 2 and Assassin's Creed Nexus)
    Nintendo's main consumers are kids and they love VR (Gorilla Tag is a popular game with kids)
    You don't even need to be worried about motion sickness with them because they seem to be immune to it for some reason, at least with modern VR.
    That said it doesn't even have to be a purely VR headset, just a normal console with a VR mode.
    Something like Pimax Portal if you haven't heard of that.

    • @robbiibobbii
      @robbiibobbii  Před 5 měsíci

    • @ReeksofChees3
      @ReeksofChees3 Před 5 měsíci

      I mean if the screen is gonna have 120hz then motion sickness would be a non-issue if it has the processing power to maintain a stable 120fps.
      However I don’t think a handheld with a VR mode would be a good idea given that the screen would get fingerprints and dirt, dust, etc

    • @joeroeinski1107
      @joeroeinski1107 Před 4 měsíci +2

      The specs might be similar but the hardware is very different. The Quest 3 uses a Snapdragon SoC that is geared towards high refresh rate VR, and the Switch 2 is using an evolution of the Nvidia Tegra SoC. Plus, I don't think Nintendo's main audience is kids, they're moreso towards the family as a whole (a kids game is something that adults wouldn't want to play, yet look at the catalogue of "kids" games that adults still have fun playing).

I think if they can attract the wii audience along with core fanbase of the switch audience they can have the success of the wii and success of the switch combined they probably can sell 200 million units that way or be the first console to do it.

    I don’t think they’ll have a gimmick to define the system. That was more of an Iwata/Reggie era tradition. Nintendo nowadays under Furukawa/Doug Bowser is very different. The Switch 2 will be much more like the PlayStation model of transition from one generation to another, like the PS4 to PS5.

    • @QnjtGWonQNqVsbYyzjx4
      @QnjtGWonQNqVsbYyzjx4 Před 4 měsíci

      We already SEEN the Furukawa era, with the barrenness of the UI, cheap money with 3D all-stars, joy-con drift as well as less obsessed compared to Wii and Wii U with the marketing material and console idea. Doug Bowser only change how they market it, not how they make it. If it ain’t broken, why fix it? If it have no new selling point, the switch successor MUST have PS5/Xbox series X power or even better to sell.
      If you are being optimistic, MAYBE they can have a pro model after launch(or during launch, but even less possible) for the core audience, then if they risk it and not succeed, they won’t have much drawback. Don’t worry, they won’t force it on you like the Wii and Wii U(proven by switch)

    I don't see how the Switch is a gimmick at all. Joycons that can fuse into a single standard controller or split into two smaller controllers complete with motion controls doesn't sound gimmicky at all. It only sounds innovative to me IMO. Not every attempt at innovation results in a gimmick. Sometimes they're genuinely useful, like games that use gyroscope functionality to assist with aimimg on a right stick. Not a gimmick at all as it's genuinely useful. It becomes a gimmick in the scenario it is applied in.

OR, better yet would be if they made a PS5 level system, and included a "nintendo portal" like handeld option a la Sony, so then all the above features can still be included! people could pick and choose what they want, and Nintendo would make a killing off of many of us who would end up buying most of it if it were high quality, as it would be unprecedented!! awesome video dude 🎉😎👊 we'll see soon enough!
