  • Ever since I saw the infamous reactions videos of the Nuraphones, with people's minds being blown, experiencing music like never before, I'd wanted to try them. But a quick google slaps you with a whopping $550 price tag, making me close that tab and move on to just dreaming over the futuristic tech.
    Then I saw an update, NuraNow, a subscription-based membership, providing you with access to the NuraPhones to use or test for a fraction of the cost... so well, you guessed it, here we are today.

    Big thank you to Nura for taking the time to talk with me at Pause Fest. Also, I have to say their staff have also been fantastic over email and chat answering any questions and queries I've had throughout my NuraNow subscription and creating this video.
    With that being said, I did see right as I was adding the final text overlays to this video they have changed the subscription options to just one, of $20 per month with $199 upfront fee. When I signed up it was $20 per month, NO FEE. So it was a really good option to try them out, however, I no longer can say that.
    I suggest if you're serious and can't get to anywhere which demo's them, consider buying them from Nura, they have a money-back trial period and often will do 25% off as well making it probably the better way to go about adding these super-futuristic bits of tech to your collection.

    I'm still feeling that bass! Maybe I was a bit harsh on them, but they certainly set themselves a high bar with all of their promos. Definitely a great product to have in the mix of high end headphones, even if they aren't for me.
    Absolutely incredible review man! Glad to have been a part of it. :)

      naah dude pricing themselves as high as they do and pair that with the reaction videos they promote them with they're opened for a higher level of criticism than a general pair of headphones 🎧
      The bass still is something out of this world! of only they let you tweak them they'd be probably perfect sounding

  • @PirateCaptain_ThunderHook

    I feel like the song at the start of the video was made for nuraphones, I have my pair on now and that sounded great.

    So my opinion on the NuraNow subscription changed in the final stages of editing this video so check the video Description for an updated final say.
    For Reference, I make tech videos, I'm not an audiophile per se however I appreciate good audio.
    I have a Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 audio interface feeding my Mackie MR5MKII Studio Monitors for my daily listening/editing, along with a pair of Audio Technica ADG1 open backs or Bose QC25 II's for NC use. I've owned many other headphones like the AiAiAi TMA1 & SOL Republic V8's. All of these are cheaper than the Nuraphones, and from that fact, I hope you see I don't have piles of money to spend on tech but do invest in quality where I can.
    The promise of the Nuraphones is like nothing else, I truly believe in the possibilities and tech of the product but for reasons you see in the video, some slight changes could make it perfect. They really are something you need to try for yourself.

    'Neutralizer' is a great app too for tailoring eq for different headphones/systems, you adjust an eq curve against constant background white noise, it's improved everything I've used it with especially the car 🤖👍
    Seeing other people's preferences really highlights your difference in hearing too, my dad can't hear above about 11kHz 😅

    My take on the nuraphones are that after doing 4-6 soundsettings the nuras get my ears right! First 2 or 3 times wasn’t great but now it perfect. I picked the largest of the earbuds so I don’t get that wobbly noise that can appear when walking.

    I rented the Nuraphones, just came in today. Gotta say I found myself with the same problem about the EQ. I kinda hate the fact that you can't personally change it and anything like that, but I was curious enough to create two other different profiles that were tuned to the same pair of ears. The result was kinda surprising, the first two profiles sound kind of similar, with the first one having a way too overwhelming bass to my liking (first setting definitely couldn't be used for gaming at all). But the third one oh my.. it sounds PERFECT. Also listening music with Apple's new Dolby Atmos thing was amazing, literally sounds better than the nuraphones EQ on its own. They're also pretty good for movies. When the immersion mode was set just right, it literally sounds like I was at the cinemas. Of course, that being used for watching with the third setting.
    Man, I sure do talk kinda a lot. So if you have the same problem with the EQ not being wowed enough, I suggest you give the settings a couple more try until you find the one best to your liking. Also be mindful of your volume when the nura app's playing the Star Wars rave thing (putting it too much when setting up may cause an unbalanced EQ).

    Is it possible to use the usb charging cable with an OTG dongle, in such a way that I'm able to connect it with my phone and listen to some music, you know just in case the 3.5 mm cable got lost?

    • @camshand
      @camshand  Před 4 lety

      That's a really good question, I didn't test that out whilst I had the Nuraphones rented.
      I guess if your phone can detect other USB Headsets via OTG then it would make sense for it to work, thing is I've never had to do that with my Android or Apple devices, always use 3.5mm or Bluetooth haha.
      It does suck though that they used a proprietary connector, all of this would have been avoided if they went USB-C

  • @kanebaker3075
    @kanebaker3075 Před 3 lety

    Can’t help but feel that as you were talking through the hearing profile creation (as it says not to), it didn’t show you what you - or your ears - actually want to hear. So many people that criticise the Nuraphones in some way, have reviewed them on CZcams and talked all the way through it, moving around, telling the viewers what’s happening.
    Did you try and do another hearing profile sat totally still and silent like you’re supposed to? We’re the results any different?

    • @camshand
      @camshand  Před 3 lety

      4:19 shows a clip from when I completed the profiling, I was silent and sat as still as I could, even breathed shallow haha.
      I did have to tell the others when they did it to be silent as they made comments initially.
      I also ran the profiling test multiple times, and my studio is acoustically treated so would be the most optimal room in the house to conduct the test. I did get slightly different "profile blobs", mostly when changing ear tip sizes, but wasn't anything drastic.
      They're great quality sounding headphones, just would have preferred that manual tweaking for onboard EQ.

  • @tommullinerart
    @tommullinerart Před 4 lety

    I'm just wondering how 'neutral' the neutral sound really is. Is it possible that it's been made to sound deliberately bad, just to emphasize the difference? It might be interesting to compare the neutral to some cheap headphones to find out. Great review, thanks. I'm very tempted to subscribe for a few months to try them out... however, that price jack up makes me hesitate.

    • @shestheone1503
      @shestheone1503 Před 4 lety

      they are $250 for this week alone, check their official Amazon

    • @camshand
      @camshand  Před 4 lety

      Hey Tom, I wonder the same thing! It's not bad but at the same time it's hard to judge it as most other headphones are tuned to be generally enhanced and favouring certain frequencies. I don't have a pair of truly flat headphones for referencing anymore but in comparison to my studio monitors which are more so flat, they do sound worse. Either way the tuning does make a dramatic difference in most cases as when switching between other people's profiles they can sound way worse than the neutral so it's quite interesting!
      And yeah the price Jack on the rental is a total bummer, really stops using them for a month just to see. They truly are something you have to try to know if you like them or not, making things tough to decide if worth rolling the dice to get them

  • @malarkey102
    @malarkey102 Před 3 lety

    But how do they know that the sound you set up is really what you like. I have the Jabra Elite 75T. They have a personalised set up where they play tones. But I still like the default settings and prefer to adjust the EQ. I find that I lose a bit of quality with customising them.

      @@camshand They rely on people not returning them. It's predatory. Also they are cheap, but they price them ridiculously high so people think they're valuable/good, to trick people into thinking the monthly price is a steal. The headphones have good exterior build quality but trash inner build quality to make people think they're well made. I wouldn't say it's an outright scam, because you do get headphones, but they're preying on people who don't know any better and selling bad headphones for many times their actual value
