Feel Like Flying • Marc Bristol & Okie Doke

The song is about the time I fell off a mountain in Simi Valley, CA in 1971 and lived to tell about it. My pickin' buddy Dale Hustler had driven me up there to see some of his friends and I went for a walk. I wrote the song finally about 17 years later, and recorded it in 1989, with Doug Bright on fiddle, Orville Johnson on banjo, Joe Anderson on bass and Peter Laponte on drums. A couple weeks later I found the mountain town of Index where I settled for 5 years, and where the B&W pictures in the video were taken by photographer/mountain climber Bill Sumner. The cabin and the house pictured are the two place I lived in that valley.
