I have several $100,000 vehicle builds.
My 2010 Ranger 4.0 4x4 Manual extended cab
Is the best of the best reliable truck I’ve owned.
It was $18,000 used in 2017 and currently has 111k miles. Beautiful and powerful small truck
damn bro, i feel the pain.. i have a nissan xterra that i bought for 4K. almost immediately after it started misfiring and it destroyed the catalytic converters ($3k), then the timing chain went and that cost another $3k. before the timing chain, i bought new wheels and tires and those were like $3.5k. overall i spent like $13.5k not including the little stuff i did like a roof rack, etc.
I’m around 13k in mine in just less then 2 years but mines also lifted and has big tires!
Ford Rangers are the most reliable when you leave them almost completely stock. No lift, no aftermarket tires, no spacers, none of that stuff. Just simple bulletproof stuff like coolant bypass conversion.
You have one of the best rangers I have seen. Especially on youtube. My 07 ranger 4.0 5 speed 4x4 I'm in for about 15k (including purchase price) and owned her for coming up on a year and a half. You've inspired me to do videos on it. Just hit 180,000 miles and bought it with 162,000.
That’s great! I’m glad I could inspire!
You have inspired me to build my ranger man! I love yours
Thanks man! I’m glad to inspire!
If its something you enjoy ....then its worth it. My way of thinking about it is make it a learning process too and do some shit yourself. Its nice having a vehicle you put your heart into it by doing some work and making it your own. This years gonna be good 👍
Absolutely!
Bro found the 1 unreliable ranger…. I’ve spent MAYBE $2500 in 6 years on my ‘01, including oil changes, 2 sets of tires, and all mods 😭😭
That said, I love the build, and I’m sorry you had to go through $20k (Canadian) in 3 years.
Haha I’ve heard that before, people get so surprised when I tell them the maintenance list. Glad yours has treated you so well!
The bright side to all this is you know all that you've done is all brand new.
For sure!
Where did you get your replacement front grill! Looks good. Want one for my truck.
Thanks! It was custom made locally by someone in the Ontario Ranger club on Facebook
Really not that bad. It's a cool truck and I've probably spent a similar amount on my lifted 07
Haha that’s good to hear, glad I’m not the only one!
What’s the cause of going through all the swaybar end links & slave cylinders?
Also have you looked into any parasitic draws to go through two batteries?
Also picking up more and more of that maintenance your self as you can will drop that cost substantially, I order majority of that stuff for my ranger off of RockAtuo. Been pretty good to me.
The first end link was OEM and rotted off. The second one was from rough country and likely the rubber bushing just cracked and came off from wind.
The battery is likely due to my drive-in visits haha
Did you do any of the labor/install yourself? If not when separate what was in parts and what was labor and see how much you could have saved if did yourself. I'm guessing you spent more on labor then parts.
Oh for sure. That would be interesting, I did some myself but not a lot in the grand scheme haha
As much as it hurts. After 3 years, other than the headache of the shops. It sadly is STILL significantly cheaper than any of the newer trucks out there. Plus they don’t have any trucks like this anymore. I would prefer to fix my 99 Ranger than deal with another vehicle with “unknown electrical issue” that totals the vehicle and makes it undrivable and also unclaimable on insurance.
I agree. New parts are insanely pricey on newer trucks no doubt
Aw man, hearing that grand total was a tough pill to swallow! But building and modifying vehicles definitely isnt cheap whether you do the work or not. All that matters is in the end youre happy with it.
Hey I appreciate the kind words! Definitely was a tough pill to swallow haha. Thanks for watching!
swear i saw a ranger exactly like yours driving near hamilton 2 nights back, but I was wondering what did the lift and big tires do to your fuel economy how bad is it?
It’s possible. It’s a rough country 5” on 33’a gets about 15L/100 km
You are not a idiot you did the right thing to keep your danger ranger road safe and make the truck way you want but $18k it to much but there lot of people who put way more money on there vehicle some people put $30k on change tire on there Bugatti I have 2007 Ford ranger sport with 3.0v6 automatic 2 wheel drive I want put wheels and tire and lifted kit soo bad you have a nice Ford ranger
Thanks so much!
It's still cheaper than buying new.
This is very true.
How can u run a Rc lift in the ranger? I’ve read 2010 and up the stabilitrak goes ham with the new spindles used on the Rc lift.
Mines has no stabilitrak issues, idk why guys have that issue
strange i was going through forums and many have had issues, my truck is a 2010 so I was disappointed that I couldn't run that lift according to forums.@@6speedfletch
I’m thinking about doing something to get rid of the dust on my ranger on the undercarriage. I saw an old video from you where you used bed liner. Can you tell me the steps to doing this as well as if you recommend me doing it? Thanks a lot!
I definitely do. Grinding the rust down is essential before putting a coat of paint or primer over it! I’m overdue for it again as it’s been a few years since my last
@@6speedfletch alright thanks man.
i Beat the crap out of my 04 mazda b3000 dual sport and have probably spend 3000 in 4 years on maintenance lol dang bro what are you doing? i live in FL though so maybe thats a big part of it
No wonder it has cost you so much, you took it to people to do it for you lmao 😂
This is super random but I’m thinking about putting spacers on my ranger. I can’t find ones that fit (I’ve not looked too hard yet) so can you tell me maybe give me a link to the ones you use. I know this is random but I would appreciate it a lot
I ordered through a shop. They’re just 5x4.5 1/4” spacers
@@6speedfletch ok
Im literally planning to buy one.
They’re good trucks! Don’t let this deter you!
You need and Tacoma
