And all the other plastic crap ford thought would be a good idea to put on the motor like the whole intake plenum and thermostat housing then putting bolts that obviously will need to be removed for regular maintenance all up behind shit in some fucked place and make it a allen head ot some shit.. lol. I’d have done a tank sump paid with a 95gph Fass or AirDog. Nice build, man

Super cool! I love diesel engines in unexpected cars. Why is tuned to smoke tho? It wears your rings and destroys your oil by creating soot in combustion chambers

Anyone got a list of what'd it take do this swap. I got a 2011, and very interested in this. I briefly looked at other diesel engines but this has been the biggest eye catcher.

You should do some kind of lift pump for this so it doesn’t have to pull fuel from the tank. I am not sure if the ALH’s had them but my BRM has a lift pump from the factory.

factory worldwide (outside north america) rangers come with a 2.0 biturbo diesel, or more recently the v6 diesel from landrover... but i think the simplicity if a vw tdi swap makes yours more cool

@Mechanic Dave would you do it again? Just bought a ranger, and was eyeing either a v8 swap or an upgraded tdi swap

When you swapped the bed, did you have to change the wiring for the upgraded tail lights? I’ve been wanting to update my taillights but I can’t find any options w the 3 bulb set up for my 99, what did you have to do to your stock wiring to put those in?
