I love this figure of Christopher. The detail is amazing! I'm a huge Superman fan and really just wanted to write this comment to express my respect towards the dedication to Chris on the box. He really deserves that and its quite a humble feeling to see its all about him, the one and only true Superman :-D
Man if I had this superman model, I wouldn't put it along with my collection. I'd play with it like a toy. It holds too much of my childhood! Hahaha...
Great review. I love how people keep saying "Christopher Reeves". With the s at the end. Maybe they're getting confused with George Reeves? I dunno. Anyway. It's just Reeve.
I never planned to buy Hot Toys. The price range scared me, and I'm afraid to get hooked. Once I saw this at my local comic shop, I couldn't contain myself. The displayed figure totally blew me away. It's a good thing that my comic shop gives me a good discount due to my loyal patronage. Including tax, I paid around $198.00 for mine. I said this was the first and last. Now I own Michael Keaton Batman as well.
this is still the first (and currently only) Hot Toys figurine I own. picked it up last year, and I probably repose him every few weeks. an amazing tribute to the actor and the unforgettable and iconic portrayal he gave us. Agree about the feet articulation! Could be more flexible for flying :( Well done with your review, you remind me of the joy I felt when I first opened mine haha
The face really is incredible, my only nit pick with the figure is the top of the legs-they look a little awkward at times & I don't like the way the costume creases in this area. Other than this, it's almost perfect!
He's absolutely amazing to look at. I'd love to get one to display with the JL movie Superman. Mostly to show the evolution of the classic suit to the modern suit.
It's been a while since I saw the movie, but I think the reason why the chain is as long as it is, is because Luthor double wrapped it around Supe's neck, making it more difficult for him to remove it.
Really good review! The only thing that let's it down is the lighting-it's too strong & makes your figures look very different to what they look like in hand. I think that you need something more subtle, something that allows the small details like freckles, stubble, skin imperfections etc to show up, as these are the details which set Hot Toys apart.
I just wanted to agree with you about how stunning this is. I have display cases stuffed with multiple figures but this one deserved a shelf BY ITSELF. That's how awesome it is. Nice review
i discovered the brilliant quality of hot toys earlier this year, easily some of the best collectables you can buy. the face sculpts alone are mind blowingly accurate. its nice when someone else discovers how good they are, i cant recommend them enough to anyone who can afford them.
That is simply amazing! I still remember the first time I saw the Superman movie and how I just felt like he was really flying. and that is simply and awesome figure. I can't wait to see the other figures of that line
Superb review. I had no idea after all this time he had that kind of articulation in the neck and shoulders. I haven't picked one up yet and I think your review pushed me to move forward. Thanks for a detailed and thoughtful overview.
@optibotimus they are a line of extremely detailed and highly articulated toys based out of japan. Mostly based on anime figures i.e DBZ They are actually really nice toys.
I've got the Sideshow Gandalf the Grey and Indiana Jones figures (which look great as well), but my Captain America, which just shipped out and is on the way, is going to be my first Hot Toys fig. Watching this just made me even more excited for it, which I didn't think was possible! Great review, Superman looks awesome. Congratulations on picking up the Sideshow/Hot Toys bug, they put out some amazing stuff, and I'm looking forward to your future reviews of their figures.
Awesome review man, i would like to see more Hot toys reviews from you, like Spiderman and 89 Batman & Joker. This Superman figure is just incredible, i am soooo happy to have him : )
I've got an easy fix for that chain. Just get some fine copper wire and twist-tie it together so it hangs more securely. No damage to the chain, and easily-undone. Cheap-ass walmart wire cutters'll go through it like butter if you sell the figure.
@optibotimus i was lucky enough to grab 1 from ebay for $156 shipped. don't know it's worthy or not, but it's a christopher reeve superman figure. a must have.
I purchased this figure via eBay back in December 2011 for a fairly decent price w/ free shipping. I didn't get it w/ the kryptonite chain because, well---it was an accessory I didn't need. As far as the display, it would have been better had they expanded it a bit more to where they could have added the crystal control panel tubes and shards along w/ the green shard.
Great great great review! Finally got to see somebody really handling a hot toys figure and really showing all the poseability that it is capable of ! Thumbs up 4 u!
lol at the long chain. maybe Lex Luthor was trying to make Superman impotent? Cool to see you've done a hot toys review and want to cover the 89 batman ones. I once asked someone how he afforded so many HT figs, his answer: "I don't eat much"
I don't buy these things but this is amazing. Its a true collectible. Very nice piece of work. Also, I've noticed a 3D button the screen. Are you doing video's in 3D now? Or its that just put there by CZcams? Great video man
The only thing I feel let the figure down a bit was the S emblem on the costume... If you see some of the custom costumes for this. They've made the S stitched in the costumer and more faithful to the film.
Heh! He's also my first Hot Toys figure. I never collected Hot Toys, because of the price. I had my hands full w/ the ML, MU, MS, DCUC,DC DIRECT, MTOUC, NECA toy lines. When I saw this at my local comic shop, I just caved in. He's just too much of an ICON and too well-made to simply pass-up. I left the store w/ him, and the guys at the shop laughed at how I probably got hooked to a new line. I have Keaton Batman now. My shop's holding '89 Joker for me. What have I gotten myself into?
Wonderful figure. Would love to get it if I was able to and it would be a great item for any collector. I see one dislike so far. It MUST be Lex Luthor!
I know this videos old. Can you believe what people are asking for these now ? I've seen on ebay where someone is asking $1100.00. Wow. That's just stupid to me. Since it's been so long now do you recall where you got that flight stand from ? Good job man.
Superman and Superman 2 was a great i group up at Morden time Henry Cavill is the best Superman for me . But i am fan of both Christopher Reeve Superman Figure look very cool . I know i read a lot about New 52 Superman and Injustice God Among US Superman , but i did respect Christopher Reeve as Superman even i like Superman 3 for a wrong reason . But for me i wish Beast Kingdom can make Christopher Reeve Superman Action figure . I want put Christopher Reeve and Henry Cavill side by side this figure , have a very cool and special design i would mind the red cape .
awesome review of a very ,very awesome figure. nice to see a fellow TF fan get into hot toys. you're in for a wild ride. if you're a fan of jack sparrow, i suggest getting that hot toys dx one while waiting for the keaton batman. your wallet will hate you but it's worth it.
@optibutimus hey optibotimus, this year i was going to botcon 2012 but with there system down and rising of the gas prices. i went and order me my first Hot toys Figures and i got him and Resident Evil 4 Alice also got FansProject CA-05 Backfiery
Optibotimus please do more hot toys reviews id like to see you reviewthe new dx 12 batman andjoker2.0 and would love to see you review the joker 89 jack nicholson hot toys :)
My ice crystals do not peg in well at all. I'm trying to figure out a way to get them to stick in without using glue. Anyone have any ideas? I'm thinking of using a type of putty that be easily removed...
I love this figure of Christopher. The detail is amazing! I'm a huge Superman fan and really just wanted to write this comment to express my respect towards the dedication to Chris on the box. Great review man. R.I.P Christopher Reeve the one and only Kal El.
Great review. I love how people keep saying "Christopher Reeves". With the s at the end. Maybe they're getting confused with George Reeves? I dunno. Anyway. It's just Reeve.

I will have this in my lifetime.
mcdus78 how much are you willing to pay for it?
That intro made me cry.
this is still the first (and currently only) Hot Toys figurine I own. picked it up last year, and I probably repose him every few weeks. an amazing tribute to the actor and the unforgettable and iconic portrayal he gave us. Agree about the feet articulation! Could be more flexible for flying :(
Well done with your review, you remind me of the joy I felt when I first opened mine haha
its amazing how well they captured Reeve's face without rotoscope
The face really is incredible, my only nit pick with the figure is the top of the legs-they look a little awkward at times & I don't like the way the costume creases in this area. Other than this, it's almost perfect!
RIP Christopher Reeves, he was the definitive superman. He shouldn't have gone so early.
He's absolutely amazing to look at. I'd love to get one to display with the JL movie Superman. Mostly to show the evolution of the classic suit to the modern suit.
For me this will always be the man of steel his modern designs don't do him justice.
It's been a while since I saw the movie, but I think the reason why the chain is as long as it is, is because Luthor double wrapped it around Supe's neck, making it more difficult for him to remove it.

Since nobody will ever replace Christopher Reeve, Warner Bros. should just use the Hot Toys figure in stop-motion for any further Superman movies.
I'm a big Superman fan also, have this and loving it, just got the Keaton Batman and they are truly the World's Finest!
Im lucky enough to own one of these Excellent figures. Christopher Reeve's Superman was a real childhood hero of mine so i had to have one.
The Best Superman ever....
That is simply amazing! I still remember the first time I saw the Superman movie and how I just felt like he was really flying. and that is simply and awesome figure. I can't wait to see the other figures of that line
this figure is amazing stop knocking it
You must be the richest man in earth to own so many expensive collectible figures
Christopher Reeve the best superman actor ever
love the music
Superb review. I had no idea after all this time he had that kind of articulation in the neck and shoulders. I haven't picked one up yet and I think your review pushed me to move forward. Thanks for a detailed and thoughtful overview.
Only Christopher Reeve very Superman 👍

I almost smashed my base against the wall because the crystals would fall out, the I took a hair dryer to the base and voila they popped right in.
YOUR WHITE REVIEW AREA MAKES THE FOTRESS LIGHT UP MAN REALLY GREAT PIECE
Awesome review man, i would like to see more Hot toys reviews from you, like Spiderman and 89 Batman & Joker. This Superman figure is just incredible, i am soooo happy to have him : )
although i did't get the sideshow exclusive version, but i'm quite happy that i paid $156 for this guy. far cheaper than the sideshow version.
I've got an easy fix for that chain. Just get some fine copper wire and twist-tie it together so it hangs more securely. No damage to the chain, and easily-undone. Cheap-ass walmart wire cutters'll go through it like butter if you sell the figure.
Facially, Reeves just LOOKED like Superman, it's as simple as that.
You can heat the hands with a blow dryer to get the joints out if you are having a hard time

I'm pretty sure Lex designed the chain to maximize its effectiveness.
The only thing I feel let the figure down a bit was the S emblem on the costume... If you see some of the custom costumes for this. They've made the S stitched in the costumer and more faithful to the film.

In Memory of Christopher Reeve

Wonderful figure. Would love to get it if I was able to and it would be a great item for any collector.
I see one dislike so far. It MUST be Lex Luthor!

13:57 the physics of the cape bothers me. Should've been arching backwards and up rather than down with that direction of flight.
Watching this in 2017 and can’t believe this was your first hot toy...
@optibutimus
