    The reason why the plutonium storage cover was so difficult to take out was bc it was in upside down

  • @myscrnnm
    @myscrnnm Před 2 lety +6

    The lid for the plutonium chamber is hard to remove because you have it installed upside down. The other side has a little ridge going down the middle so you can grab it, like in the film.

      I'm not talking about an actual Delorean (with a real engine etc), just a full size model of the car, it would so cool to see one built, they have made a full size house using Lego, so why not.

  • @vengeance1701
    @vengeance1701 Před 8 lety +14

    If you knew already, ignore me, Paul, but the reason why the spedometer only goes up to 85 is because the real DeLorean's spedometer only went up to 85.

    • @XxMcLuvinItxX
      @XxMcLuvinItxX Před 8 lety +2

      He's not referring to the original speedometer, theres the "aftermarket" speedo on the top of the dash that does clock 88 mph in the movie. However I think that speedo goes to 95 mph, don't know if thats accurate or a mistake.

    • @XxMcLuvinItxX
      @XxMcLuvinItxX Před 8 lety +1

      +Larry S. Fun fact, just watched the movie clip and in the movie the Delorean's speedo does go to 95 mph.

    • @gatchaponkei
      @gatchaponkei Před 8 lety

      maybe it's a reference to when the movie came out

    • @XxMcLuvinItxX
      @XxMcLuvinItxX Před 8 lety

      +vengeance1701 Im not trying to bust your chops man but originally you were trying to correct the reviewer at 13:01 when he said it only indicates 85mph but he was referring to the white speed meter box on top of the dashboard showing the mph not the actual speedometer, in the movie the top mounted mph meter does go up to 88 mph.
      And I seen the pic you supplied but there are also others that read 95mph up to 140 mph but thats irrelevant if it shows 95mph in the movie then its accurate to the movie piece. But its all good, just cant wait to get my grubby hands on mine.

    • @justjohnny05
      @justjohnny05 Před 8 lety +1

      +vengeance1701 the original delorean speedometer only went up to 85 i am talking about the real world car NOT the movie version they changed the speedometer for the movie, Im pretty sure the car could go faster than 85 but for all you "kids' out there this was the early 80's and it was the era of gas shortages and fwy speeds were reduced to max 77 mph so legally you were never supposed to go more than 77 mph ever but since cops dont stop you unless you go over 10 over the speed limit then the 85 limit was to warn you if you go over this youll get a ticket....

  • @NathanBloch
    @NathanBloch Před 8 lety +30

    I was really disappointed in the car's interior. Stickers for the read outs? For a $700 toy? That was the thing that made me not pull the trigger on this one.

    • @HMoyn215
      @HMoyn215 Před 8 lety +3

      Exactly why I was glad I didn't order one no fabric in the frunk and the interior is so cheap and plasticy. Better off with the 1/8 Eaglemoss kit version

    • @Lalam24
      @Lalam24 Před 7 lety +2

      00CaldinaGTT I'll be honest, while the HT us far from perfect, it certainly looks nicer than the eaglemoss. Don't understand why the suspension is so high on the eaglemoss, makes it look really goofy.

    • @HMoyn215
      @HMoyn215 Před 7 lety +1

      Real US spec Deloreans did ride very high when launched I've seen one and its almost comical how high their off the ground compared to the majority of the cars today . What I like about the eaglemoss is you don't have to spend a large amount of money in one purchase and you can detail up if you want as you go along . you could always modify the suspension to make it sit lower

    • @Lalam24
      @Lalam24 Před 7 lety +1

      00CaldinaGTT But the sculpt is wrong in some areas too, like the rear sitting too low. I know the HT has the front door/windshield bar off but the delorean itself looks nicer, and the detailing in general is as well. The only clear benefit I see to the eaglemoss is the plutonium chamber and possibly the size of the exhaust sections.
      I'll be fair though, they're both disappointing to a good degree. Wish Autoart would get the license.

    • @HMoyn215
      @HMoyn215 Před 7 lety +2

      Imagine the price of that and if Autoart would start making the stainless finish cars again considering the trouble they had with the last run

  • @CDV3N
    @CDV3N Před 8 lety +2

    Wow, I never thought it would be that big. I think the reason why this is a bit more expensive is the fact that it's based on a production car rather than a fictional one like the Batmobile so Hot Toys had to get both Universal and DMC license to produce this thing. Great review as always and probably my favorite among the other ones you've done.I've been waiting for you to review this just to see more of it onscreen.

    • @optibotimus
      @optibotimus  Před 8 lety

      +CDV3N I thought about that after the review and that is what i kind of thought of too. With the Batmobile though, i would imagine they'd have to license the use from DC in addition to Warner Brothers. That MIGHT be roughly the same as having to license it from Universal and DMC

    True Story: I was actually in a real DeLorean (albeit without the Doc Brown renovations) when I was 11 years old. My neihbors I had at the time where nice enough to let me in. They even started the engine and allowed me to sit in the drivers seat. It was awesome. :)
    Fun fact: They are now bringing the DeLorean back in production so more of these cars will be on the streets again.
    About this review: This 1/6 scale car is immaculate and you did a good job reviewing it. :D

    Not sure why you find it disappointing that it can't be converted to a BTTF II version. That would be VERY expensive and complex because you would have to install the Mr Fusion can (remember, Doc converted it to run on garbage) , the wheels would need a new undercarriage to put it in "flight" mode and the engine bay was reworked extensively. I have a 1:18 model of that version and it has so many moving part that it rattles when I pick it up. But at least it has a metal body. It's very heavy for model less than 10" long, you do NOT want to drop it on your foot. You'll be lucky you don't break a bone or two! I'm really disappointed that model didn't have little ratchet points to hold the doors open. They're so heavy that they can't stay up.

  • @DerektheMenace
    @DerektheMenace Před 8 lety +1

    I so agree with what you said about it needing to have the BttF 2 parts. One thing that so many people forget is that we see Mr. Fusion AND the time machine flying at the end of the first movie!

    • @Big44Ron
      @Big44Ron Před 8 lety +1

      Exactly! I wanted to pre order this as soon as it went up, but was waiting for confirmation that it came with a Mr fusion and changeable licence plate. When I found that I didn't I was truly disappointed.
      Then saw the version 2 at comic con and that changed every. They better make it and Marty.
      As a kid watching Doc put in the banana and poring the soda into Mr fusion, then the hovering / flying off, was one of the main reasons I fell inlove with the Delorean.
      For the size/ price point I can only own one and version 2 is what I want most. I really hope someday it will be mine.

    I think the Price is ok if you compare it with other vehicels of Hot Toys... The Size it's self is not the only fact which counts... The Original Hero Time Machine Delorean is in reality already smaller than the "Movie Batmobile 1989". It's the same scale so there's no reason to complain...And to me it seems to be much more work to produce a high quality modell of the Time Machine Delorean like producing the Batmobile. Don't forget the whole wiring and other stuff in the back and at the outside and inside of the car. But I agree... The Lightning Rod is missing.

      +gypsycatcha79 They also didn't use the full-color cables for the front over the wheels on this replica, plus this review doesn't mention any sound effects. You could probably revamp the coils to include blue LEDs, but for $700 Sideshow should've done that. The flux capacitor's blinking pattern is also too slow, and the green/yellow lights don't move up or down like the Comic-Con version did. Also, I was very disappointed to learn the shell's not made of metal; how tough is that to do at one-sixth scale?

      I didn't mention any sound effects because there aren't any. Also, you need to understand the difference between Hot Toys and Sideshow. Hot Toys is the company that makes this. Sideshow isn't. They're the official distributor in North America for Hot Toys products. Sideshow isn't responsible for what Hot Toys makes. Now, Sideshow DOES produce their own line of figures and such, but this isn't one of theirs. Second, you have any clue how much it would cost to make the shell of this car metal? A typical Iron Man figure can run 250-300 dollars, with NO die cast. Die Cast figures increase the cost to 350+. Adding metal to this entire car shell would have made this thing probably over 1000 dollars and i guarantee it wouldn't have sold nearly as well. Thanks for pointing out the green lights. I didn't know that moved on the comic-com version, but that being said, the comic-con versions are always prototypes. Things change all the time.

      Well, all these deficiencies now known, I'll stick with my 1/15th-scale plastic one, or maybe buy the 1/18th-scale Hot Wheels Elite.

    I’d love a Hot Toys Human Alliance Bumblebee action figure, especially since I missed all the other versions. A line Featuring one from the 2007 films, a version of the upcoming Bumblebee movie and a version of the original 1984 Bumblebee with anime Spike. All of that would be fantastic.

    the lights arent going to be so spectacular when they start dying. With all the stories shared by iron man collectors, I would never want to live this piece on for extended period of time, unless there is an easy way to replace dead leds.

    Very nice, BUT for the price they ask and the time circuits don't light up? Also the steel trim rails around the front and back are supposed to light up in blue. Doesn't light up enough for me for the money it costs. That's too bad because I might have bought it

    it's a little disappointing how it has the strips on the front bumper and on the back sides which is part of the hover unit and not the Mr fusion. I can point out the few little flaws but its not that bad it looks pretty spot on. I like it and nice review.

    I heard on the news that a shop here in the south is using parts to create the car. There might be enough to create about 300 or 3,000 of them.

  • @tpickup11
    @tpickup11 Před 8 lety

    If I had to guess, this is probably is 60 dollars more because of how detailed it is. Now if they made the swap out parts then I think it may have been a little pricier. But that's just what I think about it. I do want to work for Sideshow Collectibles in the future or Hasbro, haven't decided yet, but I do know that they try their best and they have a budget to go by. If they went over the budget then they would probably have a problem.
