Filmed by Jerry Circelli, this short video offers "a day in the life" of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal at Sacred Heart of Jesus Friary (Fort Worth, TX).
Franciscans are as close as it gets to being in service to their fellow man. I have the utmost respect for them, have known many of them when I was a social worker. I worked side by side with them down in the trenches when I was trying to make a difference. I made a special trip to Assisi, Italy to pay respect at the tomb of their founder, St. Francis.
Wow that’s really cool that you visited St. Francis’s tomb! When I was in middle school, Franciscan friars used to do retreats annually. I was so inspired by there devotion and simplicity! St Francis please pray for us, God bless!
Spreading the truth about invisible enemies is not so appealing to educated people. As long as all paranoia is a serious mental illness, folks just laugh at Christian Good News.
This is a misattribution. Saint Francis never said this. The error lies in suggesting one can spread the true Gospel message without speaking. Which being nice and serving the poor is part of the Gospel message but not the entirety. How can we say Jesus is the Son of God without speaking?
With zero proof of Moses, the whole thing is sketchy. Why don't you type Bible facst online. Egyptologists know everything about Pharoah Tutankhamun, but haven't located Moses or the Hebrews in Egypt, Neighbour,. How educated are you? @@RonMexico7
@@martinkent333 Men many times smarter than you and me have believed in God and the Catholic Church. I’m not quite sure what you’re asking or how my education level is relevant.
@SpecialCrunch I highly would recommend read the Church's Fathers and lifes of catholic saints, they might be pretty interesting for you and you could go deeper into all of this, God bless you ^^
why do I feel like crying...I was a postulant for the capuchins, so this tugged at my heart and brought many good memories...thank you...I miss the poor
You posted 2 years ago. Anyway I too feel like tearing up. I went to the Seminary many many years back and did not make it. But I still have good memories of those days I have wasted because of immaturity. I married and faced with all kind of evils in my life as married person, I survived but not spiritually. I was dead spiritually for many years but I thank the good Lord Jesus for not abandoning me. I have found my true happiness in Jesus, my God
Daniel Alexander I feel the same. I was a Franciscan friar in a newly founded community in upstate NY. 2013/2014. I cried concerning the older black/African American gentleman in the video. I know a man just like him who is a very troubled homeless man and yet always has a kind word to say or just a smile. JOY!
@@bakas792 wow your story is much like mine! I did go to seminary as well. I was a Capuchin. My faith died when my brothers locked the friary gate behimd me saying, "from here on in, you're dead to us". Sometimes, seeing these videos reminds me of the regret I have for leaving and getting married. I recently looked at photos of my past brothers and saw that God did indeed call me out foe the right vocation. Saving me even more heart ache and spiritual battles that I would definitely have lost. Now I know I I can take the values and lessons I have learned during that time and still bring it out to into the world. I have returned to the faith and will become a secular Franciscan!
I feel so lucky to have these friars in the world, and they changed my life. If one of you people remember me, I was at a Youth 2000 nearby the friary.
Chloe R - you can also be a Secular Franciscan without necessarily living family and work. I professed as a Secular Franciscan in May 2003, and lived the frenciscan way of life as a mother and a health care professional.
Ironically all the Buddhist nations like China are experience huge surges in Christianity. The 8 Fold Path is all common knowledge stuff, and right and wrong is never defined.
Incredible. I've been considering the priesthood and looking at different seminarian videos, but this one and only this one has given me peace and joy.
I love the way the friar is celebrating the Mass in the vernacular facing the tabernacle. His vestments are beautiful, too. It would be great if all Masses were celebrated this way.
It is odd to see how many of these Franciscan third orders want to revert to the pre-Vatican II liturgy. The improvements made to the liturgy during Vatican II were remarkable steps forward in inviting the participation of the laity in the sacrificial prayer. At least they keep the vernacular here but it is probably because they don't know Latin.
john riordan do you understand the spirit behind ad oreientm? it is to have everyone facing east together to face God who comes to us. I thibk this is very beautiful and is completely compatible with the liturgical changes made post VII
@john riordan Improvement? Where? Acceptance of immorality has been spreading through the Catholic community since Vatican II. Now Church is about to preach acceptance of homosexuality and divorces. "By their fruits you will know them"....
Surely goodness and Mercy shall follow us all the days of our life, You Friars are the ones who make God give us some time to live so we can have time to repent, thank u and keep that Spirit
i have had close relationship with christ since 3 years of age, happily preaching the gospel. my patron saint is saint francis of assisi. i'm member of knights of columbus. i am interested in joining n knowing more, i live in texas. may God bless you all. been searching 4 a community that would accept me fully. much brotherly love from me 2 yall. :)
Will pray for vocations...the video about the life of the Friars is a touching n very convincing image of you bringing Jesus to people in the margins of society.God bless you for making the world a better, kinder world with Jesus!
Thank you for this great video, and thank you for your great devotions! It’s great to be with the Franciscan friars even today just as the time of the St.Francis of Assisi. God bless them!
I'm 55 years young, single, and always had an affinity to the Franciscan order and community life. I still don't understand what is holding me back. I'm sure I need to pray harder. Searching for answers....
Il Signore vi benedica e vi custodisca, mostri a voi il Suo Volto e abbia misericordia di voi. Rivolga verso di voi il suo sguardo e vi dia pace. Il Signore vi benedica, frati Francescani del Texas ! Pierpaolo o.f.s. Italia :-)
Ok Im a cradle catholic, but still I get confused, between the fact that there's so many different men's orders but just 1 for women. the women are nuns(called sisters) but why is there so many different men's orders. Friars, monks, Those that are just studying for the priesthood. what is the difference?
There are many orders for religious of both genders! Monks (male) and nuns (female) are cloistered/secluded and spend their lives in prayer. Sisters and brothers (also known as friars depending on their order eg Dominicans vs Benedictines) have a more active life of ministry. There are probably hundreds of different orders for people of both genders, and each order has its own “charism” or focus/gift if that makes things any clearer. So Franciscan brothers and sisters focus on the poor while Dominicans are more intellectual.

You might be surprised to find out just how much Catholicism is "all about Jesus" I invite you to look deeper :D
