- In the midst of a busy and anxious world, young men are still answering the counter-cultural call to Catholic religious life. The novitiate is the second year of formation as a Capuchin Franciscan friar, and its primary task is discernment & contemplation.
This is a short, homemade documentary of one day at the Capuchin novitiate in Santa Ynez, CA. In addition to activities depicted in the video, novices also have the opportunity to engage in various ministries in the Santa Barbara area.
ARE YOU CALLED?

I became a Catholic about a year ago and now feel that God is calling me to be a Franciscan. I need more time to grow in my faith and develop a prayer life, but please pray for me and my discernment. God bless you all!
Good luck to you Coleman and God bless you too!
I prayed the chaplet for you. Hope you find your path soon.
How has the last year been? Are you still on the journey of being a Franciscan?
❤
Know it’s been a year since your post, but just wanted to let you know that I’ll pray for you nonetheless. May God shine His light upon your mind, so that you’ll be able to understand His Divine Will for you! God bless you abundantly!
Praised be the Lord Jesus Christ! And blessed be His Most Holy Mother, Our Lady, Mary Immaculate.
✝️🇻🇦🤍🙏🏼
My son Francis wants to become like you...please pray for him...he is 17 years
Pray to Mama Mary, so she can whisper to her Son to call your son Francis to this vocation. We have the community of saints in our Catholic Faith, how lucky we are to have those wonderful, blessed people to help us in our prayers.
under progress... God bless
Will do Peter ❤️
I hope he will become good priest😊
Francis the patron. Your son names is Francis what a beautiful name❤️🙏❤️
Goodness, the Friar seems so harmonious, gentle, and challenging all at the same time. When the time comes, I pray that God calls me to serve as a Franciscan.
I look at this lifestyle and don't see your poverty. You have such incredible peace and all of God. You are richly blessed.
Recalling my past experience at a retreat when we had Eucharistic Celebration everyday. There was one priest who stood out ..just consumed my spirit with holiness, love and joy. Later on I asked which order was he from and he said "Capuchin". No wonder then... look at the life of them in this video. They have time to meditate on God everyday and they bring heaven to us.
Praise God.
Thanks for the video.
I am not saying other priests aren't anointed. Just sharing my encounter.
Just read St Padre PIO biography, another...CAPUCHINE ! 😄👍
I like this. A little bit of humor is the “oil” that makes the day go smoothly.
I return to this video from time to time. It's very peaceful and calm
About 30 years ago, I was working for The Visiting Nurses in Santa Ynez and was assigned an elderly patient here. I only made two or three visits before he passed away, but I remember Brother Joe greeting me each time I arrived. He was so joyful and welcoming, that I have never forgotten him. When I stumbled upon this video and then went to the website and read that he is still at San Lorenzo, I was really delighted.
This short brings back old memories when for a short while I lived at Marytown in Kenosha Wis now IL. I was considering becoming a Franciscan priest (Conv.). The friars were wonderful men, the food was great and plentiful in short I greatly enjoyed my stay there. Only one thing made me leave...girls! I love 'em. I left got married and eventually became a lay missionary with said order. My wife and I've been married for 30 years and we have a lot of kids and grandkids all of whom are good people. I don't think my wife and I did too badly. She was once considering becoming a nun. GOD bless and peace and all good things...
Good for you....you still did the best in vocation that God lead you & your wife to. Who knows one of those many children of yours will end up being called to religious life.
Once I wanted to be a Jesuit, but I wasn't accepted, then I decided to marry my wifey and she gave me my son, who's the light of my eyes.
Peace & Good guys !,

Instead be a Diocesan Priest which is more fulfilling than this capuchin or monks life
@@reloadedman3309 That's your opinion. Fyi, this is the noviciate year where they spend the year living the spiritual life. After this they will go out to do other things working with people, studying, parish work etc. They wouldn't do it if it wasn't fulfilling.
God bless
Seems like the perfect life & peaceful
Looks fun!
Dios los bendiga, les saludo desde el hospital San Francisco de Asís de Guadalajara Jalisco México, PAZ Y BIEN
Being a missionary is a great responsibility! The missionary must have great energy, fortitude, and courage. Wherever the missionary goes, no matter what part of the world he or she is in, he or she must spread the Word. Locals must understand what the missionary is telling them. The missionary must get the Word right! Therefore, every missionary must know the language of the local people! To everyone who is going on a mission or preparing for one, I would like to recommend a very good workshop by Yury Ivantsiv Polyglot Notes: Practical Tips for Learning Foreign Language. This wonderful book will give you answers how to properly learn a foreign language with a minimum of your time and effort. This book gives answers to many of the questions that everyone faces when learning a language. I wish you good luck in your important work!
Excellent my dear brothers. Please give a warm hello to all. Pray for the Hermits of the Holy Cross. b.Mark D.
This is interesting, To see the way they live
I am viewer #899. My nephew Daniel was there for a time.
Wow, they have more fun than I do!
Beautiful
Please pray for my family and our special intentions and
Thoroughly enjoyed this vid like many others which reveal the Religious call! Watched the Netflix Movie The two Popes, this day. Sir Anthony Hopkins plays a great role in fact his co star whom I've not known as an actor prior, plays Pope Francis brilliantly. Useful movie & again thoroughly enjoyable.
May God all brothers
It's quite a sight and experience if one steps into a church or chapel with the choir seating. These days we only see either facing forward to the altar or around it. But, facing each other to the left and right sides of the altar is mainly for thus kind of religious setting---don't know how to describe the experience--for prayers and eucharistic mass.
The Capuchins, my "first love" :) (Croatia)
Remembering novitiate Life 😊
Capuchin Brothers please pray for me.
God bless all the Religious
Pray for me

"YES I AM"
❤❤❤❤
Who would I speak to about starting a private Capuchin Hermitage?
❤
I always felt a call to the monastic way of life, but due to circumstances I regret that i never pursued it. Now it's too late for me. With such a daily routine these brothers live. I was wondering where they find time to bath or shower.
дай Вам Бог здоровья братія ріднесенькі Христос між нами!
