I know everyone’s different and has different experiences. I was asked if I wanted them and have had my membranes swept for all 3 babies and they have never hurt and I have gone into labor within 24 hours with each. I know that’s probably extremely unusual 🤣 I plan on doing it for my current pregnancy in a few weeks!

I had that too (at 41+0) with my first born and for me it wasn't painful at all. Within some hours I lost my mucous plug and gave birth that night. I would also do it again when I enter the 41 week again to prevent a c section.

38w3days here, my ob clinic is awesome, they only do pelvic exams if we ask, and they offer a stretch and sweep at 39week but let you know its completely optional. If im still pregnant come next appointment I plan to do it, i remember the pain I had with my first, getting it done but it did almost nothing for me. (Had it done at 38w, 39w, and 40w. And was induced at 41w) but I've progressed more on my own with this on so hoping it will actually do something and be worth the pain haha. 😊

I just got a membrane sweep done yesterday at 41+1. It was on the mofo end pain-wise, which is not entirely unexpected as I have a pelvic pain condition that makes insertion painful to begin with. @birthtoolbox I had my membranes swept at 38 weeks with my first. She didn't give me an option, I was told it had to be done to protect my son. I didn't respond and she just started doing it. I screamed it pain. It hurt so bad and I had contractions from that day for the next FOUR weeks with no movement. I was finally induced with pitocin, which made labor ten times worse. My son got stuck because my pelvis is tilted downwards and my son was stuck for a very long time (hours) I begged for them to either use a vacuum to get him out or forceps and was refused that option. I was exhausted after 18 hours of active labor. Fully dilated, trying to get him to come down farther into the birth canal. He was born with an extremely cone shaped head, the worst I've ever seen. He had sucked 9mm of fluid into his lungs and was turning blue, they used a machine to suck it out and kept holding him by his feet and smacking him in front of me. I was in complete shock afterwards. Not to mention they placed my epidural and then told me to lie flat, and get some rest. I woke up unable to breathe, they kept saying I was at 96% oxygen but I couldn't feel my lungs because they were numb so I felt like someone was making me breathe through a straw. They removed my first epidural and called the anesthesiologist to come do another one lower, blaming it on the placement. My friend that was there said he moved it down about a cm or two. It wasn't the placement. They were just trying to save there assessment because I couldn't breathe because they instructed me to lay completely flat. I now know you have to be at an incline after an epidural. Idiots. I'm now seeing a high risk specialist 2 hours away for this pregnancy with twins because I truly don't believe they'd survive if I had them at the hospital in my city. I'm 26 weeks now- maybe 27 and starting to have awful belly pains. I'm hoping I can hold them in at least until 34 weeks. I know their lungs are not fully formed yet. I'm truly terrified I won't make it to my specialist hospital at the time I go into labor and don't know what to do. I'm not due till October but my specialist said if they stay in until 36 weeks "I'll be levitating off the table with my head spinning around yelling to induced me." He's probably right. I'm already so uncomfortable.😢😅

That is frustrating, but very common.
