  • You may be at the end of your pregnancy wondering about possible signs you are dilating. In this video I am sharing different ways to find out how it feels when you are dilated, how to tell if you are dilated and how much you are dilated. First I am covering the four most important cervix dilation symptoms to help you understand how it looks and what it feels like when your cervix is dilating. After that, I go on to explain two interesting methods to help you find out how dilated you are. These two methods can give you a rough idea about how much you are dilated. One is called “Purple Line” and the other is called "The Fundus Level". The first method is backed by scientific research (see more info below). The fundus level is not backed by science but it is used by many midwives and doulas to help a woman find out if she is dilating and how much she is dilated. I hope you find this cervical dilation symptoms video helpful and insightful! Love, Anja xxx

    I all of a sudden noticed a purple line today (which was not there before) measuring around 3-6 cm dilated based on your chart. I'm not in labour. Im 41+6 days. Lots of intense cramping and false labour contractions on and off. Bloody show and intense lightning have been consistent since I had a membrane sweep 24 hours ago. Hoping the line in a postive sign that things are starting to progress. I've had prodromal labour since 37 weeks. Contractions daily - at times it's been intense and timable. I've trained myself to ignore almost all the feelings. I'm sure I'll know when it's the real deal. I'm desperately trying to avoid induction as I am a VBAC/TOLAC and understand how interventions can greatly reduce my chance of a successful vaginal birth.

      Sorry Anu, only just seen your message. I don't think there is anything you can really do to keep your baby in for longer as your baby will decide when the right time is to be born. It would be good, however, not to over exert yourself, avoid heavy lifting or anything strenuous in the third trimester which could cause premature labour. Also, don't bend over too much and avoid squatting. You may want to avoid birth ball exercises completely. Basically avoid anything that encourages your baby to press down harder on your cervix 😜 apologies for my delayed response! 💕🤦

      I know you might feel frustrated right now. I didn't give birth until 41+4. Trust that your body and your baby know when the right time is to start labour. Due dates are not an exact science. Only 4% of babies arrive on their due dates and that's just luck. The best thing you can do is relax. Go for a walk every day near to your home to help gravity pull your baby on top of your cervix to help it open. Also, stroke your tummy and speak to your baby. I did this every day after 40 weeks. "I'm looking forward to meeting you my baby, I'm ready for you now". This helped me to feel less anxious. I know you probably feel uncomfortable and tired but your baby can't stay in there forever. Try to enjoy the final days of your pregnancy as much as you can. Relaxation helps your mind and body know that you are ready to meet your baby. Stress can prevent things getting started. Breathe, walk, meditate, distract yourself by seeing and talking to friends and family. You can do this! 💪😍💓

Also it's hurt a lot down there so I been doing a lil kegels but mostly sitting down like a butterfly 🦋 which has helped the pain. No bloody show, no mucus plug... But idk yet... 34 wks, 4 days here: I get lightening everyday. This has been going on for a few weeks, and it is very very painful. I almost cried one night because it kept going on for about 10 minutes. Also, I'm getting mild menstrual-like cramps in the evening (the lightening is usually in the evening too). Does this mean I'm starting to dilate?

    • @HypnobirthingWithAnja
      @HypnobirthingWithAnja  Před 2 lety +8

      Hi! Thanks for your questions. Given that you are 34 weeks, your cervix is most likely thinning out and softening at the moment not necessarily dilating. How tall are you? I ask because if you are under 5ft 4, it's more common for pregnant women to give birth before their due date so your labour may start sooner rather than later. It's always good to have your hospital bags ready by 36 weeks just to be on the safe side. It's most likely that the menstrual-like cramps are just aching that you're experiencing from your baby being low in your pelvis and your body is tired and achy after a busy day. However, do stay aware of your symptoms and keep monitoring what you are experiencing. Sorry you have been crying about the lightning crotch. It can be really painful at times. I remember! Having a warm bath and lying on my side on my sofa with loads of pillows in the evening helped to ease mine ❤️

I have a pain in the crotch area that sometimes won’t let me walk and I’m considering sleeping sitting down until labor because I can barely move when I’m laying down because of the pain. It’s almost paralyzing my bottom area. After being up for a while it gets bearable. This all started when I started exercising and feeling the baby go down.

      Hi and thanks for your question Every woman and baby is different and even though you have a due date, 96% of babies don't arrive on their due dates. First time mums are most likely to give birth after 41 weeks of pregnancy. When you go into labour will be unique to you, your body and your baby. The best thing you can do is breathe, walk every day, talk to your baby and tell them you're ready for them to come and try to relax- don't stress or try to rush or force the process of birth. Your baby will definitely be here in the next 2 weeks for sure but WHEN is an unknown for EVERY mother unless a C-section is scheduled. You should start to notice more signs of your cervix starting to open and soften over the next few days, trust in the timings of your body and baby, they know what to do 👍❣️

      Hi Maycee, don't see it as good or bad. Your cervix will start to open when it's ready 👍. At 37 weeks, it's still common for your cervix to be closed. To help it to start softening ready for labour, a daily walk is always helpful. 💕🌹

I’ve been experiencing all of these symptoms and I’ve noticed that each day they get a little bit more intense each day and I’ve been having them every day. However I haven’t had any bloody show I think I’ve lost my mucus plug though. Is this normal to have everyday?

    • @HypnobirthingWithAnja
      @HypnobirthingWithAnja  Před rokem +1

      It's pretty normal yes! Your baby is very low in your pelvis so he/she will be putting pressure on your cervix and causing all of these things to happen 💖 If you were ever worried though, see a doctor for reassurance 😃

It looks like it’s from the nipple on the video but we all have different nipple positions?! Some perkier than others? Or do we measure from under the boobs where our bra wire would sit? I will just explain again and hope you can figure out😟. At the end of my every urination, I feel a relaxation feeling in the abdomen. I just relate it: like when we open a bottle filled with water keeping it upside down, there would be a fast emptying of it and finally the last few amount of water just makes a sound, air get inside.and empties the water completely. I don't know, but I think it's my urinary bladder getting emptied. I want to know, having such a feeling is normal or anything to worry about? I can't word out my feeling perfectly 😣

    • @HypnobirthingWithAnja
      @HypnobirthingWithAnja  Před 2 lety

      Hi Shanice, the best thing you can do is go for a walk near home each day, bounce on a birth ball and do hip circles on it. Other things that could help are having orgasms from masturbating or sex as that releases the hormone oxytocin which could get labor going. Don't stress though! I gave birth at 41+4 and I just kept stroking my tummy saying "I'm ready for you now baby, you can come". Ultimately, your body and your baby will know when the time is right. 💓

    Thanks for your beneficial video.
    I will be 40 weeks pregnant this Thursday. I lost my mucus plug on Saturday and have been getting on and off contractions since last Thursday. I think this is prodromal labour.
    Any advice on how to get to active labour and does on and off contractions dilate cervix more if it happens for over a week?
    Thanks

      @HypnobirthingWithAnja  Před 2 lety +1

      Dear Marwa, thank you so much for your message and your questions. Great to hear from you 💓 Yes it sounds like you are experiencing prodromal labour. Nothing to worry about, it's just your body getting ready for real labour to start. Dilation speed can vary from woman to woman but if you are keen to get things moving forward it's very important to walk every day and to not get stressed so be as calm as possible. You may want to watch my dilate faster videos. And my inducing labour naturally videos. They will give you many extra ideas about how to get labour started and dilate more. If you've lost your mucus plug, that's a really positive sign that your cervix is opening so that's great! X

    Hi mam, I'm 36 weeks n 5 days pregnant. I started getting cramps, period like pain , little bit of discharging. In my last scanning I found out that my baby is in breech position n doctor suggested to hv a c-section. I really got upset with that. Now when I'm getting all these symptoms I'm not able to make out the position of baby😔 so how can I know the baby's position before my next scanning which is scheduled after a week? If it's still breech then how can I turn baby's head down in less time? My due date is April 24.

      czcams.com/video/3hAmqugysyg/video.html
      They can help turn your baby head down.
      You can give birth to a breech baby vaginally and it happens all around the world but you need to have a care provider who supports you. I would try the exercises from the videos first and see what happens. It is possible to have a really positive and joyful C-section though. I don't want you to feel that it is going to be a negative experience. The most important thing is you are respected by your care team. ❤️
