  • Lance ties up one of his favorite grasshopper style patterns. Thanks to the dudes at Spinner Fall for the genesis on this one.

Great looking fly, and I really appreciate the tips about stopping the foam from rolling over the hook shank. Thanks for sharing!

That’s outstanding! I am sure that will fish in some other colors too. Thanks guy.

Big fan of your videos and your online store. You guys do great work. Even though I live in upstate NY, I feel as if I am on the Provo with you guys - wish I was - it's been too long since I've been out your way.
Anyway, this is a great hopper pattern and Lance did a great job. I also like to trim the hackle on the bottom but I also add a drop of UV resin in the middle where the hook shank shows to add durability. Nothing crazy - you know "a little dab will do ya" maybe I'm dating myself with that catch phrase :)

If you want a really realistic hopper, go and catch a bunch of grasshoppers, put them on a hook, then put a lot of UV resin on em! Guy I know did it with a cricket.

I’m stoked to try this out along with the bionic ant (they seem to be very similar conceptually). It’s not like any hopper pattern I’ve ever fished.

The fish I caught on this was laughably small, but it was still a fish. Can't wait to see how the bigger fish lay into it!

I love Uni-Flexx for the exact reason Lance mentioned. It comes off the spool with no coil or "memory". I like span flex a lot but get annoyed with the fact you have to really pay attention to how you tie it in to get the legs to flare the way you want.

Nice :o) When you mentioned it in the fishing video I thought it was going to be a tube fly, but I'm not disappointed. Thanks Lance, excellent instruction. BTW, is the "R" designation on the hook stand for their "retainer" bend? Do they hold better than a round bend? Thanks again.

Thanks Lance! Is there any reason to NOT use Super Glue on the underside of the hackle tie-in points and the head whip finish?

Roger D Stover Maybe be careful that the glue you use doesn’t eat the foam. Otherwise, super glue away. 💪

Well, maybe we should call it the "cylindrical hopper"! tubes are hollow. But Tubular Hopper sounds much better. Totally tubular dude!
