It is perhaps one of the most amazing Cinderella stories in entertainment, yet almost no coverage is occurring. Dollywood -- the once small and regional part in the Smoky Mountains -- has vaulted its way into the hearts and wallets of travelers across the country. Now, places like Trip Advisor are declaring that Dollywood is the greatest theme park in the United States. We sent @EverythingWokeAbout to find out what is going on... and his report is stunning.
Featuring @RealKeriSmith, @ScriptDoctor, @CultureCasino and more!

Prices are fair, wait times are decent, NO CRAPPY IPs, great food at good prices, incredibly friendly staff, great shows. And, lots to do outside of the park. It’s a great place.
Sounds like…I dunno…the kind of place you’d imagine idealistically when building a theme park or just a business at large. Quality product, decent pricing making the customers happy & the owner profit. Something Walt would do.
Dollywood has been my family's theme park of choice since Ditching Disney. Great atmosphere, Rollercoasters, and monkey bread!
Amen, and they don't cater to wknss. 👍👍👍👍🙏🙏
Thay have monkey bread. Its been so long since I had monkey bread.
@johnjay370 they call it "cinnamon bread" 🍞 and put it in a rectangle pan instead of round. Monkey bread to me.
@@ReplyBy I believe that monkey bread has a special glaze that cinnamon bread does not have.
@johnjay370 Dolly's is more buttery brown sugary than a glaze. I may have miss- identified the dessert, lol 😆 still very good and you can get frosting/icing to drizzle on top.
Dolly said she wanted to open a theme park. But her advisors told her not to. She went against them.
She’s the best! ❤
Always wanted to go to Dollywood (well, the wife does lol). Knoebels is a very close second. No political nonsense as far as i can see. Family friendly too.
@@luigivincenz3843Zero woke cult propaganda at Dollywood!!
@@lunarvision and that's why it's on our bucket list.
She bought an existing one and built on to it.
The woman is undoubtedly a genius.
I love Dolly, she's honestly a great person. Her dad never learned how to read because of his farming duties, so she went on to make a charity for teaching children how to read. It's called Imagination Library. I want more of that. I'm glad her theme park is doing so well.
We get children's books from her organization monthly. My kids love them
in contrast Disney is a company full of groomers that are out to push their degeneracy on children
We went to Dollywood in June and it was awesome. In no way expensive compared to the others. Employees were friendly. Food was great. Rides were fun. Clean.
Went to Dollywood in the mid 90's. Went to Disney World and Universial Studios/Islands of Adventure parks in 2000. I can tell you, Disney World did not do it for me. Too many shops, few rides. Dollywood was very balanced in that department and I loved it. But for me, overall, Universial parks were my favorite.
Keep in mind that even if Disney World is bigger and better, you have a lot more fun when your spending $50 for a day of fun than when you're paying $300.
From what I see. Its debatable that Disney is better then anyone. Especially universal.
Disney World is absolutely not “better”. Ha ha
Dollywoods staff are helpful with information friendly genuine the park is an absolute must for Dolly fans . Her shoes and dresses are on show and you could be lucky that Dolly just turn up Big Surprise 😂
You'd be lucky to get food for two people at Dollywood for $50
@@robswan4170 BS. Get a slice of good pizza (that’s the size of your head!) for under $10. Not sure where you’re eating.
Not to mention the Smokey Mountains national park, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg and the whole Mountain atmosphere it self is beautiful
Fun fact I was having a hard time when I had my first child. Dolly Parton runs a program called the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and you can apply for her to send you one book a month until your child turns five. Now I’m not sure if it’s limited to low income but when I applied for some help they gave me an application. I will be forever pleased with Dolly for those books. I did give some of them away for free because I would never charge someone for the gift I got. I’m so happy for her and the good fortune for her theme park!
Yes Dolly has done so much for the region. My kids had her books.
We lived in an area which received the Imagination Station book program. We kept some them over a decade since receiving them and have donated the rest to families to enjoy as well.
No shit it is, probably one of the most wholesome theme parks you can ever find.
It’s celebrates old americana values (the good ones) and style
I’d say the number one thing that’s kept it anchored down as it is due to its deep Christian roots,
Heavy emphasis on friends and family and good old fashion camaraderie
exactly. Dolly herself wrote the motto of the theme park and rules for employees.
@@luigivincenz3843 Well there we go, i appreciate the assistance
Dollywood is a good amusement park, with a regional tone, less of a national one. Unlike a Six-Flags park, Dollywood is nicely themed too. Management puts more effort into the looks & cleanliness of their park's buildings & landscaping. But unlike certain other parks, it doesn't have any dark rides. Or attractions that cost more money to create & a lot more to maintain.
like Knoebels. ;) No politics there either. No nonsense rides or attractions. Just ride and enjoy.
Important to know for me. I’ve been thinking of taking the family, but I’m a huge fan of dark rides. I like animatronics and creative sets. If Dollywood lacks these, it might sadly be a pass then.
I grew up in Nashville in the 1960's . We had a local morning talk show called the Ralph Emery Show. Dolly Parton came on the show as guest singer with Porter Wagoner and the Waggon Masters. She also began to appear on his Porters Show. But she had so much more talent and charisma and began to become local celebrity. She is a good person, strong in her faith, and has been a legend ever since. Dollywood gives you alot more bang for your buck.
We went to Dollywood last weekend we had so much fun loved the Christian music and family atmosphere
Dolly uses a portion of the proceeds from Dollywood, to run a foundation that provides books for children in struggling families.
Dollywood isn't any where close to us, but on the West Coast we have Knott's Berry Farm. The fact that it cost literally half what Disneyland cost is awesome (and our kids thought the their "Camp Snoopy" - with an incredible amount of rides for kids their age - was awesome).
I can believe it! Gatlinburg is a great place to visit and Dollywood is their crown jewel! The black bears do get a bit cheeky though lol
Just went to Dollywood for the 1st time a couple of months ago. I was very impressed. Very family friendly.
I remember going to DollyWorld when I was a kid. Still one of the most pleasant theme park experiences I’ve ever had. And I’ve been to Disney, Busch, Six Flags, and Universal. I hope to go back!
Not surprised. Went ironically a few years ago thinking it would be country cringe… and fell in love. Been going back since. 🦋
It’s like a hard candy Christmas.
Dolly's Story is a true pull yourself up by the boots straps story. Really inspirational.
The great thing about Dolly wood is all of the shows!!! For older people who can’t do the rides. All of the other parks have done away with live shows.
I was wondering when this would happen. Dollywood has been systematically making new rides continuously for years. On top of that they have stuck to their good clean family fun policy while Disney has been diving into gender politics and there alphabet policies. It was just a matter of time when families would switch over to Dollywood. This also means that the “Heartland” theme park that is being built may surpass Disney almost immediately upon opening.
On top of that it costs less both in ticket price and in park food prices, a lot of fun thrill rides and a safe environment.
Yup. I dont have to explain to my kids what the third comfort room is like in Diss Me land. Only heard great things about Dollywood. Knoebels is a VERY close second.
We went to Dollywood instead of Disney for our 25th Anniversary. We had a great time with next to no stress.
The more people taking the money from Disney the better. I may have to visit Dollywood.
We just got back from 3 days there and this topic pops up.
The park has really spent a lot upgrading and expanding their new Wildwood Grove area.
We go to ride Blazing Fury every time because it so old and cheesy. An old indoor rollercoaster that’s a bit whacky.
It’s gorgeous and awesome!!
My cousin went to Dollywood last year and said it was the most beautiful park/ vacation he ever went on.
We love Dollywood. We have been twice. Very family friendly and we have a family of 10. We just went to Disney this August and I would rate dolly higher. Plus you can go to the smokies.
Family of 10. Wow thats impressive. Until I saw this video I didn't even know dolley wood theme parks existed.
@@johnjay370 it makes for lots of road trips, lol!
@@fluffymainecoon1953 Some day I plan on having a family. I grew up in a community where it was common to have large families.
@johnjay370 People always say to us "how" do you do it, etc. My response is always the same: no matter what happens to my wife and I, they will always have each other. Big families are a lot of fun and sacrifice.
And I’ve never heard anything but good about Dollywood.
Dollywood is a very balanced park it has a good collection of coasters for everyone from kids to thrill seekers. The food is usually pretty good with a variety for every pallet. Additionally the park has seasonal shows that are excellent. One point of order the trains are originally from Alaska and the first park that opened in Sevierville was called Silver Dollar City which was later renamed to Dollywood when Dolly bought it in the 80s.
I too grew up with the Florida parks as constant distractions. This skewed my perspective, especially when I first visited Dollywood in the late 80s, early 90s. Not so, any longer. Went to Dollywood in 2019 and discovered what is hands down the best park going. I would rather drive across two or three states to visit Dollywood, than to go around the corner to Disney/Epcot. Probably cheaper, too, even considering gas/hotel/etc.
Good for Dollywood! I went in early September, and its an incredible park! Great attractions, the shows are Broadway quality, great customer service and wholesome environment! And the food! ❤
I am definitely booking Dollywood next vacation.
main reason: No creepos with beards wearing a dress working in girls' clothing.
If you are a bit farther west, another park owned by the Dollywood managing company is Silver Dollar City in Branson MO. Great rides, great theming, artisans hand crafting beautiful goods, live dancing, music, comedy shows, fresh made food, great history, plus a very good cave tour. They are working on expanding the park because it's so overcrowded the last few years. Truly a gem.
Rode big bear mountain this summer, it was unquestionably the smoothest rollercoaster I’ve ever ridden. It’s also the longest rollercoaster.
I loved it.
I’d definitely visit Dollywood Kong before I visit Disney.
Went to Dollywood a few years ago and thought it was excellent compared to the concrete flops that have come out as of late. Universal got lazy and just copied and pasted attractions like fast and furious and long, Disney spends 6 years for some water fountains and no shade. Dollywood has the real atmosphere and the old school charm.
She’s got very good entertainment skills and good talent at her park. 😊😊😊
Dollywood is INCREDIBLE!! My first time visiting was like 8 years ago during a fall evacuation "escape" from a FL hurricane. I was blown away (no pun intended). I took my family back that following spring, on vacation, and the kids LOVED it!! Every aspect of our visit was outstanding, and we wanted to spend more time. My first thought about the park was, it was everything Walt Disney intended for Disneyland (Anaheim, CA) to be, and more.
The food was wonderful! The park "hosts" were authentically friendly! The attractions were surprisingly VERY exciting, and completely underrated!!
Dollywood quickly shifted into my new favorite theme park!
Still looking forward to visiting during the Christmas season. I've heard it's AMAZING!! 🥰
0:55 Awesome!🤣Love how you keep it classy!
Dollywood and Silver Dollar City are great parks. Hershend deserves this.
I went to SDC last year and at one point I was walking around near the Christmas shop and the house of illusions and I could see dark green moss on the thatched roofs. I thought to myself - That is ACTUAL moss on antique buildings - not some themed element sculpted and placed there.
Well done Dolly !!
(She is loved all over the world)
(And she can actually sing (beyond beautiful) and compose her own songs (again beyond beautiful)
And I say this as a metalhead/NickCave/TomWaits and so on fan
(Less strange as it seems; great stories, great tales, minstrels and troubadours)
That’s why Dolly’s live shows are revelatory.
The stage hands give her a banjo, the plays the crap out of the banjo.
The stage hands give her a fiddle, the plays the crap out of the fiddle.
The stage hands give her a SAXOPHONE, the plays the crap out of the saxophone!
So familys want a family friend park whats new? Only disney dont get it.
Man yeah! I love Dollywood. We are staying this week in pigeon forge
The whole men in dresses scaring small children thing is not good for the bottom line.
They’re getting away with predatory behavior, not an “identity”. And Disney pushes creeps onto little children.
The fall festival as well as the Christmas festival at DOLLYWOOD is spectacular!
Lived in Florida as a kid. Tennessee in my late adult life. Dollywood is what Disney used to be. In all aspects.
Dollywood is an amazing theme park!! Been several times and the cast the prices and the park are amazing.
I went there every year growing up, so there's no way I can avoid bias. I loved ot growing up, so if you have kids they'll be entertained.
I've never been to DollyWood. So why am I posted up about it? Because I remember when it was first opened on May 3, 1986. It was an oddity. Cute, meant for a small group of parents and kids, but it was never meant to be much. Even Dolly Parton herself would admit she never intended DollyWood to be huge. She wanted it good, wholesome, and most of all, a welcome haven for families.
Just about everyone I know has been to DollyWood. I'm talking even employees I barely talk to. _Everyone_ has gone. Just about everyone gushes.
I saw DollyWood grow, and I've witness it earn its love. Why? Because it loved first and kept up that love.
Just some parting words. It's a small poem written by a composer quite literally on his last breaths.
"A bell is not a bell until you ring it.
A song is not a song until you sing it.
The love heart in your heart was not put there to stay.
Love is not love until it is given away."
Culture "Gandalf" Casino is not wrong.
The Gambling Grey Pilgrim only speaks truth to power!
It’s because Dolly was smart enough to stay out of politics . Just wholesome fun !
Nah she's shot her mouth off before on politics in recent years. She's just gone largely ignored because she's not as relevant nowadays as she used to be.
@@Boskov01 the only thing I could find is she said she doesn’t like greedy politicians . She didn’t explicitly say which side she fell on or anything specific
@@AverageJoe483 She picked Hillary during 2016, dumped a ton of money into BLM during the "Summer of Love" Riots, and supports grown men in dresses reading to kids. That's reason enough.
I've loved the whole Gatlinburg area all my life. Been going there for vacations 50 years. Yay Dolly!!
The “theme park” is just that, a theme set forth by the person who came up with the idea and concept… and therefore the values of that person… Dollywood has stayed true to Dolly’s theme and values… Disney theme parks not so much anymore… and it shows in the reduced attendance figures…
George Lucas should have held onto Star Wars and just parlayed it into a theme park himself!
Dolly cares about her guests experince and that to me is the most important thing and what Disney has decided no longer matters.
My family had Dollywood season passes last year. It was amazing! The cinnamon bread is a MUST! The coasters are great, especially Thunderhead and Lightning Rod!
$200? Well, you've almost got one whole adult ticket to Disney.
Im an East Tn native. Been to Dollywood more than any park since birth...and I love Dollywood. But Im currently at Universal with family. Universal is our favorite, but Dollywood is the most beautiful.
I grew up in East Tennessee. Dollywood, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg were a massive part of my Summers, growing up! I love hearing others loving on it!
You mean family oriented theme parks catering to families vs. blue haired twitter weirdoes is a successful business strategy? Who could have known?!?
I think the misguided trend of catering to nasty cultural terrorists is on the way out.
Dear Pro… I just watched this Dollywood video … Excellent!!! I am GoGoGorman and I worked all last season at Dollywood…. My biggest observation is there is something for every single family member to do ALL DAY LONG!!
For Older Guests… the train… lots of outdoor and indoor shows… over 10… a Colonial Williamsburg style area where Dolly wants Smoky Mr crafts to be highlighted…
For little kids… 2 large kiddie ride areas… Wildwood Grove… Country Fair…
For Teens… massive Rollercoasters!!!
I had many guests say… I canceled my Disney World trip costing 10,000 dollars and found out we could do the same here for 3,000 dollars!! And my kids like this better!!!
Live in Knoxville and the fall is best time to Visit the Park the Mountains are so beautifull when the Leaves change colors the reds and orange is just stunning😊
Dollywood is a great park in the Great Smoky Mountains ⛰️❤️ and central located on the east coast 👍😃 We vist Siliver Dollar City in the 70's and went to Dollywood, has grown so much since my first vist in the 90's. Totally agree with your thoughts on Dollywood 👍❤️😃 Thanks for sharing 🤗
$129 for a three day pass. Makes for a great vacation when combined with the Smoky Mountains around it.
Dollywood is awesome, they have no need for the wknss that has infcted the other parks.
My son and I had a great time at Dollywood last year making a railroad spike knife at the shop with the forge.
I too was a theme park snob having grown up with Disney and Knott's in my backyard. But I have found many theme parks that still have the family friendly atmosphere and price point. Dollywood is on my list.
The cinnamon bread at Dollywood is fantastic. The DreamMore Resort is a wonderful stay.
Went to Dollywood in the 80s, and Disney World in 91. I liked both, but I liked Dollywood far more, it was not to overwhelming in how things were presented.
To me Disney was to over overwhelming, it was so in your face with its IPs,
I remember the Dixie stampede. Good times. On another note, until today I did not know there was a dolly wood theme park.
Surprised no one mentioned the fact that Amusement Today, the publication that hosts the ‘Golden Ticket Awards’ just voted Dollywood as the best theme park not just in the USA, but the whole world! This was voted on by industry, not some writers at a publication. And they’re not all that biased to the US….the park that has won best park in the world consistently before Dollywood was EuropaPark. Huge honor for Dollywood
I have never been to Dollywood. We just moved to Virginia and might have to make a trek over there!
HIGHLY reccomend it.
I live an hour away. If you are bringing a whole family of various age ranges, absolutely! They have things for seniors like gospel singing, for small children, and have added a new area I feel better for older children.
That’s awesome! 👏
I'm involved with the coaster community and they have a great selection. The people are awesome, the whole artisans alley area, the entertainment, and their special event make it a huge it. As mentioned, the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg and smokey mountains area with the mountain coasters are just wonderful!
We were trying to get to NC during hurricane Florence when our flight was detoured to Nashville. Thought we’d take a “shortcut” through that area- hahaha. We had no idea how popular and congested it was. I still laugh when I remember my spouse cursing “That Pigeon Field- Pigeon Farm… Pigeon F&$#ing place!”
That is an unexpected development but i'm happy for Dolly Parton.
You could easily spend a week in the Dollywood area. There’s plenty to do for all ages, interests. And the Great Smoky Mountains are beautiful. Go!!
The thing about Dollywood is that it’s part of the greater Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg/Great Smokey Mountain complex. Just an all around superior experience.
I like this! Very informative! Do more about theme parks and local, regional attractions! Day trips to national and state parks! Destinations worth driving to! Cheep fun on a budget for families and singles!
The season passes for Dollywood are a very good deal as well. The restaurant in her hotel is excellent.
Thanks Pro! Great getting some ideas that not everyone is doing. I’ve always been curious about this place but now I want to visit. Maybe over Christmas to get the lights experience.
The train is older that Silver Dollar City. It was there, before, when the park was Goldrush Junction, and before that when it Rebel Railroad. I was about 3 then...)
The problem with most amusement parks including the Disney parks in California is that they’re losing the PARK atmosphere. There are less benches to sit down and relax and look at the views. It’s just rush from one land to another, from one ride to another.
Excellent discussion 🖖🏼
Dollywood and Kennywood are both top of the heap. and have been for some time.
I really hope that the Oklahoma theme park opening in the future will capture the magic that's missing
Man, I remember Silver Dollar City. I first heard about on a segment of Captain Kangaroo back in the 70s.
What makes an override the best it’s not only the rides and attractions, but the fantastic food, the quality of food, how much You get and a meal, and it’s just simply quite delicious. Also, the food is not overpriced.
Clean, family friendly, safe, and fun. Of course Dollywood is the best.
The recently opened a new Rollo coaster called Big Bear Mountain, Its awesome, Its Clean and you can take your kids there.
My family loves going to Dollywood
I yet to visit Dollywood but have visited the area when we had a tight budget about 20 years ago. Can recall there were so many options if you want to browse and visit the outdoors. Gorgeous area!!! Will keep this park on our list to visit.
But you didn't even mention other parks like Cedar Point, HersheyPark, and Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Considered best rollercoaters, best overall experence, and most beautiful park in America respetively.
Dolly is a genuinely nice person. A friend of mine met her.
I love the indoor town on fire ride
Cinna bread is what it's known for to us locals. Dolly makes personal appearance to. She comes and lights the tree at Christmas.
I am a semi local. Dolly has done much for our area. She has truly given back. However I have to say Dollywood is alright but not what I would say the best. Our mountains are the most beautiful, though.
I've been a hardcore Disney fan most of my life so its hard to impress me. Especially when I go to six flags and constantly smh over the poor atmosphere. But let me tell you, Dollywood REALLY impressed me. Yes the rides are nowhere near as elaborate, but it more than makes up in theming, atmosphere and charm. As others have said, it reminds me of how Disney used to be. Not how crummy IP is thrown in your face constantly like it is nowadways.
Dollywood was rated #1 in 2022 by TripAdvisor as well. This has been a recurring thing; Disney and Universal really need to watch out because with affordable prices, great theming, fun rides, and extremely kind staff, Herschend is slowly becoming a major player in the theme park industry.
