  • What Information Does USCIS Know About You?
When filing an immigration application, you are required to give the U.S. government many details about your life including previous addresses, employment history, and information about family members. But is this all the government needs to know about you in order to make a decision, or is there more information the government can find and use to get to know the real you? Attorney Vanessa discusses different ways our legal team has seen USCIS find information outside of the pages of your application.

Would the USCIS watch our CZcams channels too? Because my wife and I created our timeline based on it. We have pictures too but they don’t work as well as our videos do.

Why does USCIS ask for our discord and Whatsapp handle when those apps are meant for private chats?
What would USCIS even find in them and how?

It's to make sure that your using their services for legitimate reasons. Social media handles could help indicate things like if you had ties to any criminal gangs or terrorist organizations. I am just giving you an example of WHY they would ask for this information so please do not interpret this as an attack on you; it is merely an example to explain.
Remember that the government will not stop you from marrying who you want (as long as it's a legally recognized marriage) *but* marriage does not grant a foreign national sovereignty in the U.S. That is what you are applying for and that is why there are these additional overheads.
Do note that these background checks do not necessarily mean USCIS will have access to your messages; they still have to subpoena that information via a warrant.

I-129F if you are both unmarried and you are a US citizen. I-130 if you are both married and you are either a US citizen or a green card holder / "permanent resident". You cannot file I-129F if you are not a US citizen.
You also must issue an Affadavit of Support with your application which requires you to earn 125% above the federal poverty level. If you make greater than $32k a year, you meet that requirement.

Not without a subpoena. Also in the case of WhatsApp, WhatsApp uses end-to-end encryption. Messages are not saved on an intermediate server and the private keys are only saved on the end users devices. The private keys are exchanged using Diffie-Hellman Key Exchange.
