As the older brother of an autistic brother, I couldn’t help but sob as I watched this. To anybody who knows somebody with autism they are usually the most honest people around. I know he meant every word. What fantastic compliments. Thanks for being an example to all of us Jonah.

Same here, I hate even being in small groups, I tip my hat off to the guy. I wasn't even able to do speeches in front of class as a kid, would choke up to the point I couldn't talk/ breathe properly, or I'd get that overwhelmed I'd start crying. Could tell his pride for his brother over powered the anxiety
@@marccrockett7645 It's not so easy raising an Autistic kid. I at times have to remind myself that his inability to be able to do some house chores aren't his doing but the condition is responsible for this.

@@tjkay1469 If you must know, there are some Autistic children that aren't as excited as other children. By this I mean that chores that ordinarily would excite other children (which is expected of any child of this age) would not have such effects on him.

That was beautiful. He was obviously nervous but he did a lot better than a lot of Best Man speeches. He’d practiced for that. Jonah, Maddie, Leo and Clair have a great brother.

This brought me to tears. I had a brother Ricky (R.I.P.) that NEVER treated me as being different due to my having Polio. He was my strength. He taught me that if I thought of myself as handicapped I would be crippling myself more than the Polio ever had. Your brother sounds like my brother.

Why? Just because he is autistic? I am autistic. The vast majority of us are more than capable of doing stuff like this. There's no reason to be anymore proud just because they are autistic. This is so ableist and it infantlizes us.

My Son has Autism too. Seeing their confidence grow is one of the most incredible things. My Son used to not even be able to speak to another child, and while he still hasn't got friends in school, he has overcome a lot and can now make "small talk" with them. Huge congrats to this young man, being so brave and overcoming his struggles and anxiety 💜💜
Teach him how to play chess, If the kid likes it, he should improve by himself growing his convidence. And its another way to learn how to communicate with others people of all kinds and languages. It will also improve his concentration and the results he will get at school.

My parents passed away over 40 years ago, I'm 61, I really miss them so much, I talk to them every day and I can still hear them say, be your sweet self, my mom would say, and stop being so hardheaded , your doing it the hard way and slow down, my dad would say, he had a smile and a twinkle in his eyes that showed me he loved me. They taught my brothers and sisters , 9 of us, to clean , ( spotless clean ). All of us had respect for our parents, my mom is an angel , my dad had a big heart but didn't show his soft side very much, but I saw it a lot. They always said to eat all your food, and to get along with everyone. I'm a cleaning lady and I love my job, and I'm great at it, and I'm still the sweet person they taught me to be, thanks mom and dad . 🤗💕💕

@@ldlink3935 no it doesn't, he was offering a compliment that shows his approval, that he gets along well with her. That she seems to understand him and accept him, which is surely important to the brother. Sometimes, some autistic people feel like they need to try and "mask" when they're around strangers to fit in, but this was a way of saying that she is a person he can exist comfortably around and be himself. With my experience, people with autism are some of the most genuine in their words, and I think he was saying everything in the kindest, more heartfelt way possible to honor his brother's day. There were no other intentions behind his words

My son is 23 and has autism. He’s on the higher functioning side of the spectrum, like this young man. This fact that he can do this is amazing. My son was 20 before he told me he loved me without me saying it first. So the fact that he is able to stand up in front of people and say this, shows how amazing he is

@VVoOꟻF It's hard to say. Clapping and cheering I can manage but if I'm outside and a motorcycle starts up near me or loud music coming from a car I get a little perturbed. When you're autistic the older you get, the less of an effect loud noises have on you. Bring ina crowded environment is still hard though

My son is also quite terrified of babies and toddlers because he associates them with crying. If he sees someone crying, he says himself that it starts a “chain reaction” and he just can’t help but cry himself. He gets so distressed when it happens. I hope this is also something that he can learn to cope with as he gets older. 😊

My brother died at the age of 4 with autism, and this just had me in tears, especially when I think of what would life be like, if he was still there.

I love that his hands are visibly shaking and his standing posture is unbalanced, shows he is human with amazing qualities.
@@daveduck4315 most people, with or without Autism, don't bring anything to society, just a handful of scientists, maybe couple of surgeons do, etc. Both me and you probably wont contribute in any way as well, so I suggest rethinking about reality a bit more before typing.

@@daveduck4315 Speaking in front of hundreds of people is a big accomplishment and most people could not do it. At least admire the kids guts. I would love to see you do get on stage and do something better than this kid, otherwise your opinion does not matter.

my son is autistic, he is my baby , he is funny, he is my life, he is my world, he is 28 , he tells people when he doesn't understand them " I have autism so please dont judge me, my brain doesn't work the same as yours" i wouldn't change him for the world.
I'm also 28 with autism and I say the same thing!!

How beautiful. I cried as though I was there and connected to the event. He was so courageous and managed his nervousness to honour the love he held for his brother and sister-in-law.

I'm an 28 year old autistic guy and I could easily sense his stress and sense the place he was coming from with every single word he spoke, which was from the heart. Even the choice of words and stuff is exactly like how I would have done it too. My attentiveness went straight to his shaking and pacing and I instantly knew what he was going through but he had a loving and supportive upbringing that it counters (positively) the things he goes through on a daily basis to this day!

No offense or anything, I’m very curious. Do autistic people get over autism or do they just mature a little bit slower. Sorry if this is offense.

@@sanjaykarthik6180 They can obviously "improve" their situation whether it be communicating or levels of anxiety but yep the autism will not go away it is part of them
@@sanjaykarthik6180 as a self diagnosed aspie (working on maybe getting a diagnosis), you can improve on what you personally find difficult eg social situations, our individual difficulties are different. but social development doesn’t just develop naturally at the same pace as everyone else. But yeah our brains are physically less developed in certain areas I think which is why we are not as socially developed as neurotypicals the same age as us. It’s one of the hardest things to live with imo in a society that revolves a lot around social communication but it’s ok. Just my opinion pls don’t take it as science
