Behind-the-scenes of a concert livestream (with TwoSet Violin)

- Here's a behind-the-scenes look into what happens backstage during a concert livestream - our recent TwoSet Violin Mendelssohn concert - as the directors call the shots. @twosetviolin
You'll hear the voices of Charmaine Teo, an accomplished harpist and Singapore Symphony President's Young Performer 2021, and a name widely credited with classical music video production in Singapore, multicam director Wan Zhong Wei from Dancing Legs Productions.
Together with their indefatigable crew, Dancing Legs Productions has been responsible for many a concert video/livestream, including the recent TwoSet Violin collaboration with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, our Hans Graf Inaugural Concert, the SSO National Day Concert livestreams, and livestreams from our performances at the Botanic Gardens/Gardens by the Bay. Our Mozart Flute & Harp Concerto concert this week was also filmed under their care.
The Singapore Symphony thanks this hard-working crew for working with us, especially in coming forward with their support at the beginning of the pandemic. Bravo!

The concert was unbelievable. Thank you so much for allowing so many of us to watch this livestream in such high quality. At one point I think it was 50k people livestreaming. The Singapore Symphony Orchestra was amazing and all the behind the scenes people did a fabulous job. The lighting, sound and photography were breathtakingly beautiful. Great job everyone!❤
It was not 50K people livestreaming but 50K computers. Since lots of us had watch parties, it's a lot more than 50k people livestreaming. It's even more amazing!

Can’t believe this entire production was to celebrate CZcams subscribers. It’s just insane, Brett did so well and of course the orchestra and the incredible production for the livestream blew my mind. Go Singapore! I hope this trend continues and they play with world class orchestras every million.

@@MsHappilee Reading the score to tell the director which cameras to show at which times. So if the soloist is about to cut in, she tells the director to switch camera to the soloist. or if the conductor has a big moment, she tells the director to switch camera to the conductor. they planned out which cameras at which points in the music and she's reading the music to tell the director when each of those planned cuts are.

For us non-ticket holders we didn't have to cry for too long just because you, production and livestream team, did such an amazing job! The livestream/video is such a joy to watch, seeing all of this close up and in best quality is really something else! So, thank you for sharing that beautiful performance and your wonderful art!
As someone who has worked in (live) tv production I was very impressed by the quality of the live stream (image AND sound). It exceeded all my hopes and expectations by a lot.
Thank you to the whole crew who made this masterpiece possible through passion for your job, excellent planning and flawless execution - you are super stars!
And also thank you for the video which reminded me how stressful all of this is for the production crew.

Clearly someone in the booth was paying attention to the orchestration to be cutting between all those camera angles so perfectly on time
The is S-tier production level✨ I was initially quite sad that I didn’t manage to get the actual concert tickets, but when I watched the livestream in the theatres, it turned out to be such a treat!

I remember listening to their earlier concert and commenting that I wished they have had a better room to play in. Because of the sound quality. Such a beautiful playing deserve a nice place with good accoustiq. And now this. There are no words enough to describe the quality of everything. Im so impressed and happy. I've learnt more by watching this 3 min video than I did in my TV and Film Production Class. This was extremely impressive and helpful.
Watching this during breakfast with my sick toddler so he is distracted while I try to eat. Video finishes and he starts clapping and saying "again". Biggest compliment from a 1.5year old boy I guess!
Brilliant technical production. Thank you for allowing us "behind the curtain". It shows how much preplanning goes into what appears to be a seamless production. A peek at the corresponding camera shot sheets and audio cues would be interesting.
I'm tearing up again just listening to this. I will forever hold the Mendelsson in a new light after this performance.

I'm so glad that many productions are beginning to show the bts of shows, as in not what the actual artist does behind the scenes, but what the crew does behind the scene. So many people don't know the shocking amount of planning and coordination and the trust, responsibility and professionalism that the people in the crew have to have in each other, because it is so easy to mess up. Great job guys!
I remember complimenting the camerawork and production value when I was watching the live stream. Seeing the behind the scenes makes me appreciate it even more. Amazing job done by everyone.

The whole livestream I was constantly doubting if it was REALLY livestreaming.. just because the Quality of Camera Focuses timed so perfectly felt like it Had to be edited together.. to see this behind the scenes and confirm it was always an impeccable effort of all the staff at Singapore Symphony Orchestra in real time.. you are all so incredible beyond words!
The production is stunningly good. It's become a classic. What's amazing is she was actually reading the music bars to time the camera switch to cut over at the end of the bars. Exceptional work!
I can’t watch - I cry every time. Knowing that our violin family is so large with so much love and so many people working to make Brett’s dream come true is so emotional. If nations did what Brett and the army of technicians did here, we could save the world 🌍!

I got up at 4:30 am to watch the live stream (two days in a row because I got the date wrong 🤦♀️😂) it was 100% worth it!! Thank you so much for the livestream and all the work that went into it! It meant the world to me to get to watch it live!

the switches between shots are so seamless i didnt even notice when i first saw the stream.
usually replays of live recordings have this clunky unpolished feel because of the weirdly timed camera switches but now that i think about it, not once i distracted by camerawork for the whole concert
really cool to see the intense focus and attention to detail needed behind the scenes to make the viewing experience easy for us!

As someone who was in a similar room for our church’s Christmas musical, I’m seeing things I can improve on. This is in a whole other level!
Amazing broadcast, one of the best I’ve seen. I wondered how they got the cues to catch the bassoon player and others right when their instrument was featured! Smoothly done and excellent.
