If she wanted someone more outgoing & wild, why would she be w/ Liam? Just because she was a little uninhibited outside doesn’t mean he isn’t as well behind closed doors. At the end of the day, we don’t know why they broke up. Liam wanting to be appropriate at the red carpet is not a red flag.

I remember her doing what she felt was needed in order to break away from Disney's contract because they owned the rights to her name "Miley", because it's not her legal birth name (it's now her legal name though). can't monetize Miley to kids if she's naked on a wrecking ball and making music about substances and partying. she played up her wild side and it was a smart tactic that got her a lot more attention and fame from it, and clearly didn't do much damage to her reputation seeing as it didn't stop her then and definitely isn't stopping her now.

This is what happens when you get into a relationship so young and it gets more serious than you're ready for. I think Liam fell in love with her during The Last Song and expected her to always be that girl when she hadn't even found herself as a person yet and she wanted to be that person for him but they both realized she couldn't because she'd outgrown that era of her life. I also think they're first break up was very civil but this one got messy.
This is why so many relationships fail. They don't understand how to really love someone. They don't understand how someone grows and changes.

After I left my 6 year abusive relationship (met him when I was 15 and we broke up when I was 22)... it took me YEARS to process the abuse and mistreatment. It's hard to see all the toxicity when you're in it. Especially when you date someone so young. You are naive at that age and are more willing to put up with bull. But after a few years, you realize.... wow, he really screwed me over. It's not that you are not "over it." It's that it takes time to heal and grow. I remember when I finally realized how bad my ex and I were for each other. I danced in my living room. I finally felt free.
I married my ex at 22 and left when I was 27 after psychological/verbal abuse, and it was so painful but that song is powerful. I’m in a great relationship now but I get this sentiment ❤️
Wow same thing happened to me at the same ages met at 15 ended at 22. I thought he would save me from my abusive mother. I thought of him as my savior rescuing me. It was weird, he knew that I needed saving, and he ended up abusing me as well (never physical). At that age we are too naive and unprepared to understand what's happening to us. I remember feeling anxiety but not knowing that's what it was. The breakup was so hard it felt like a death. It led me to 4 more abusive type relationships. I saw him again when I was an adult in my thirties and that's when I was able to process the damage he did with a therapist. That's when I guess I felt free..but it felt like it was too late. I smiled when you said you danced in your living room I'm glad you were able to feel free again. 💗

@@ella_bells7175 I would bet it was more of a careless choice where he didn’t take the time to really think about the significance of the lyrics and just figured “this is a mushy love song, it’ll do.” It’s hard to imagine someone going into their wedding with certainty the relationship would end in disaster, but entirely possible.
Writing about him doesn't necessarily mean she's not over him. It could mean she's processing her feelings about the relationship ending. I've been there.
Also considering how long it takes sometimes to produce albums and music videos, she could have perfectly written this a year ago or longer

Not only that, People pinned it alot on Miley and because Liam is a private person it can make him seem more innocent because he isn't acting as Carefree as Miley. So her writing can be a way for her to tell her side instead of talking about in interviews. It's sad that music has to be used as a coping mechanism to show someone's emotions cause talking about it and acting wild is seemed as crazy instead of us realizing how much that person is hurting.

I think it is worth mentioning that Miley grew up in the industry with fame. Maybe she felt like she could trust someone more who wasn't raised in it but ended up with someone who could not understand her and vice versa. Their upbringings, career goals and life goals seems to be totally different.

@@andreav8744 I live on Phillip Island 🏝️ their family are well respected here. Liam and the family are good people. They help when the community need help. He is humble, kind, and caring. Their relationship didn’t work out. Miley said in her last interview that their marriage didn’t end due infidelity. I trust her words.

Liam fell in love of who Miley was during Disney times but once she was able to be her true self he couldn’t love her for who she truly was and she truly loved him not matter what. Also, they were teenagers as you grow older you evolve we aren’t the same person we where at 15 and 30. But if its true love they will love you in every season of your life. She is healing with her music and its OKAY if she is still processing and grieving that 10 year relationship. Love the song ❤

The mature thing to do would have been for them to either respect each other’s differences or just move on to more compatible partners, instead of wasting so much time and energy trying to tear each other down.

I’m glad Miley is speaking up about this because in my opinion, the media has held Liam up on a pedestal while putting all the blame on the failure of their marriage onto Miley.
Sometimes I am not sure if me and my girlfriend are right for each other. I care about her a lot but I just don't know sometimes. @@soso-mx8nb Therapy helps with this. I broke up with my ex one month after starting therapy, and it was the right decision. You need someone to bounce ideas off and someone who can help you decide what’s a dealbreaker and what’s not in a relationship. Therapists are good for that because they help you explore your emotions on your own terms and still keep you grounded.
another thing is when she’s w him she grows her hair out to appear more feminine, she dresses and acts more traditional, she acts less outgoing. He says she goes crazy when they break up but i think it’s her setting herself free. Everyone is always like oh she goes off the deep end when she’s not w him but i think she’s finally being herself and not what he wants.

In any relationship, it takes two people to make or break it. I'm sure Miley wasn't a piece of cake to live with either. You can't just blame one person because it's just not that simple. I've been married 30 years. Marriage is not for the weak-of-heart. I still love the man I married, and I always will. He is my best friend and my trusted confidant. We still have had horrible rough patches, though.

That is sacred and private between the two of them. This is why I would never want to be famous or in the public eye. That, in and of itself, would ruin it for me. Being famous is too big of a burden. I would absolutely hate the lifestyle.

I remember reading that she only kept her hair longer or with more shorter classic styles because of him, but that she really wanted to wear it cropped, fun colors, non traditional etc who knew it was so much more deeper than that, they really are just so different..
I'm not sure a black tie event is the place to be displaying the sorta behaviour Miley did. I think Liam could have been embarrassed at the time. They were maybe both unsure of how to conduct themselves. They could have discussed what they see as "appropriate" red carpet behaviour, etc., either before they attended any award shows together, or after the first time one of them felt ashamed/snubbed. However, there's the possibility they did discuss it and neither was willing to change their behaviour because they have separate "brands" or attitudes to portray, and they are both famous people so there's a good chance they both have large egos. It's maybe easy for onlookers to say they seem unsuited but, man alive, they don't appear to have made a healthy couple.

Honestly I respect the both of them. She just wanted to be outgoing loud and life of the party whereas he wanted to be the cute quite private life kind of person, which I also understand. I don't think he was really trying to MAKE her change her ways I mean he did have enough respect for her to let her go and find herself and when they got back together they were adults been through some things and she was absolutely more grown up and mature I guess you could say. I think he was HOPING for her to change into what he wanted after finding her true self and she didn't. She became who she is and he still is who he is. They just don't mix and they both knew that but both really tried to make it work because they really loved each other. Again, respect to both of them. I dont like Miley much and i care little for Liam but theyre just too different. Liam is a more private person and theres nothing wrong with that, i dont agree with how people are villainizing him. Its not ok to just let your partner embarrass you in public, which seems like his biggest issue with her. But Miley shouldnt have to be censored all the time either. There needs to be a compromise in a relationship and they clearly didnt have it. I dont think its anyones fault. It just didnt work out. No clue if the cheating is true.

That’s your husband though, how is him telling you to behave in public censoring? Sounds like your very jaded about men and the way marriages work. It’s a partnership, we truly don’t know what their marriage was like behind closed doors and since Liam hasn’t spoken out we only have Miley’s word and personally peoples words, especially people I don’t know aren’t good enough these days since people lie. I can understand Liam asking her to behave at events. Imagine if your partner came with you to a formal work function for YOUR project and started twerking.
I think trying to fundamentally change someone to fit in a box isn’t healthy, but Miley as a singer will be able to continue producing music no matter what. Liam is beholden to his image to continue getting parts.

Idk, to me a red carpet isn't that serious. These guys already get paid leagues above the average worker. They have more freedom to be who they are and still get jobs, and not be hurting if someone passes on them for their wife being a little goofy. Like I said, the cheating is wrong. It’s not outlandish to ask a partner to behave at your professional work event though.
It would be different if he were her guest when she’s being recognized for something. I love Miley and don’t feel strongly about Liam, but I think Sloan went in a little hard focusing on her being asked to not twerk on the red carpet when that’s a fairly reasonable ask.

I think this is just a clear example of two people not being right for each other. If Miley wants to be expressive and outgoing or whatever that's fine (not saying I always agree with what she does but if that's how she is then so be it). Obviously Liam is a more reserved person and is not into that. I thought they were cute at the time but knowing what we know now, I'm not surprised they ended it.
I always felt they were mismatched. You could tell he felt embarrassed by her. He's very reserved and she seemed too wild and out of control for him.
Playing devils advocate, I think Liam just wanted a sophisticated woman. It’s easy to assume he was the problem because Miley has more star power and a huge fanbase that will ride for her but she has been in multiple failed relationships since.
I don’t have an issue with her making music about her heartbreak. It’s when the fans get involved and start allegations to taint Liam’s image. Similar thing is happening with Shakira, given her husband cheated, she could’ve been a terrible partner. We’ll never know.

@jeri - the accent is fake. She grew up in the USA (northeast) and her parents are also from the USA (Caucasian). She's not a latina nor is she from Spain. Her birth name is Hillary. Her parents moved to Spain for retirement when she was 27 and that's why she says her family is in Spain. It's technically true, but she did not grow up in Spain or lived long enough there to acquire a Spanish accent. I recently watched a vid abt it - I think it was also from Sloan.

I can understand having a unique accent… but I personally don’t understand hers. I, myself, grew up in many parts of England and America and sometimes my accent can sound more British if I’ve had a glass of wine or two. However, I think Hilaria not clarifying her birth status from the “get go” was not right because she was paid to appear in magazines as a Spanish woman, and she is not. When I went to the USA for a visit, I stayed mainly with an American (white) friend. After some days, I noticed that my accent changed a bit & I sounded more "American" - my consonants weren't so pronounced. Lol. I also stayed a bit with a high school friend. She moved to the US for graduate studies and after having lived in the US for several years, she has an American accent when she speaks English, though still no accent when we speak in our native tongue. So yes, accents can change depending on where you live - because you want to blend it & want to be more understood by locals. However, in Hilaria's case, her parents relocated to Spain when she was 27 - her American accent would've been fixed by then. As for the "pepino" - a big LOL! 😂 Cheers & have a great day/ night!

Hey Sloan I'd like to say as someone who has noticed they cause drama for no reason I've been working with a therapist and would like to share what I've learned to hopefully help some people struggle to understand themselves or others. I've learned from therapy that for me it kind of like a protective mechanism, especially in relationships, I've been in a ton of crappy ones and I've realized that I start to self sabotage when I'm depression or insecure. I start clinging onto the smallest of things, overthinking, and just start getting upset for no reason. My therapist thinks its because of childhood trauma and past bad relationships and possibly a personality disorder but I haven't scheduled testing for that. I know I'm sharing a lot of personal information but I really hope that someones finds some insight from his because understanding whats going on has helped me work on myself and communicate better with my boyfriend and has helped him understand me more and able to be patient and know how to handle the situation.

Thanks for sharing! The people I've known that seek drama typically grew up in turmoil so they associate it w love, comfort and normalcy. It's like comfort food to them. I grew up in turmoil as well but am the complete opposite and will avoid drama/conflict to the point of my own demise. I only recently realized I'm addicted to ganja and other things(for 20 years) bc I'd rather be numb than deal w hard emotions and problems. I think upbringing + personally type is a pretty solid predictor of adult behavior/disposition. Idk if you've ever looked into the enneagram but it's very helpful! Unsurprisingly, I'm a 9(the peacemaker). I have a neighbor who is also a 9 but she's healthy and we deal w things in very different ways bc she had a pretty perfect upbringing. Interesting stuff!

There is a time and place for everything and if your partner is asking you to act a bit more appropriately for a couple hours (especially if it’s work related), that should be respected. Exactly. A marriage is a partnership and personally I find the best way for marriages or any relationships to work is give and take. If my husband asked me to not wear something out because it was inappropriate I would consider his feelings because he’s my husband. Now a complete stranger or friend/family is different but your husband is your husband. If women think that’s controlling then they prob shouldn’t be in a relationship. Controlling is when a person watches over every little thing you do and you have no say at all in anything. Constantly looking through your phone, constantly overlooking what your eating, can’t hang out with friends or have a life of any sort and controlling people in general usually are verbally if not physically abusive. I swear we are just adding definitions to words these days to fit whatever it is we want. I agree with you

There is a time and a place for everything but if Liam is embarrassed by Miley, that's a hard conversation for at home, in private. It's not like Liam has no idea who Miley is, he knows her, and trying to change your partner because you're embarrassed of them, well you should probably just break up with them, save them the hurt and yourself the exhaustion. Liam needs to talk about things like this in private, telling your husband or wife to behave themselves, particularly in that setting is a red-flag for a power imbalance. It's as though he's talking to her like she's his kid and he's her dad. Miley isn't a child and Liam isn't her dad. It's not your husband's role to be your disciplinarian in a relationship. If Liam is so embarrassed by Miley, an honest and heartfelt conversation is what's in order, and If they don't come to a resolution, he should break things off. No one deserves to be in a relationship with a person who is embarrassed to be seen with them. Love your spouse for who they are or don't have that spouse at all.

I can relate to her so much 💔 I was in a 3 year close to 4 year on and off relationship. We started dating when I was 15 and ended things when I was about to turn 19. He was everything to me but I was pushed aside and left with a longing of love that I wanted to feel and experience from the very guy who I thought loved me aswell. He had cheated on me multiple times, was very manipulative, and wasn’t very kind to me when I would express how I felt. It’s heartbreaking and cruel to do to someone. For years I wasn’t allowed to wear what I wanted and I had to get rid of any male in my life that wasn’t family. He didn’t even like that I watched you haha. I wore rose tinted glasses for the longest time but, I’ve finally broke free last year. It still hurts, I feel the need to fulfill the love he never gave me. I was left with so much trauma and many emotional scars but, I’ve learned from that terrible time. I will never settle for less anymore.

I was telling my husband about this and Miley. Like, she's been deeply villianized by the media (and a Hemsworth) forEVER, when really, she's not that at all. I was reading story or listening to a deep dive (I'm in a lot of pain, so details are gonna be muddled), but either way it was another female that's been villainized, and Miley took her under her wing, and according to this person, Miley does that a lot. She helps out other females in the biz, and ngl, +1000 respect for Miley, and it grows by the day. This song was such an epic clapback.
