Where is this extra range coming from, the $200 extra? I own a lectric lite since launch and this bike is the exact same bike with the exception of a slightly different display. Thanks for the review, pretty nice low budget folder. I just bought my wife a $799 Auloor 750W48V12.8AH Full suspension folder that hits 31mph and rides really nice! I figure at that price, I can upgrade all components in it and still be under $2K. My XP2.0 style 750W T42 folder gets 34mph and is rock solid coasting at 50mph on 20x4 tires!

Thanks for doing these affordable e-bike reviews! An inexpensive e-bike is my first choice when starting out. I know myself well enough to know that I might feel differently about biking in general in a year. Will I keep it up or will the excitement fade? Secondly, I like the choice of a foldable bike. I've looked into the cost of a hitch and rack. It ain't cheap. I like the option of folding it up and throwing it in the trunk.

Not sure if you've looked at it, but I have a Fiido D4S (~90 miles with it so far) and it's similar but it's 6-speed, 36v 10.4Ah, 250W motor. $800 MSRP but I got mine for $720. Probably a bit slower and rougher around the edges, but it's really nice to have gears. (for speed, I do right fairly upright so am not the best judge of it)
They claim it goes 50 miles in moped mode, but I did a 20mi (total) trip w/mostly PAS 2 and the battery gauge started blinking on the way home. I know the battery meter fluctuates up and down normally depending on usage... so it seems like potentially some fault of going by voltage, and maybe even the battery indicator saying it's dead super early at 20% due to poor design/programming (for instance, flashing could be 1 extra battery level, or more if the other levels flashed). Or just so users are paranoid into range-anxiety rather than careless? (though that could have the opposite effect if they don't trust the meter)
A legal nitpick with the display/controller is that there isn't a way to disable the throttle so it's technically Class II even though OotB it has 15.5mph (EU) speed limit (also didn't come with a US plug, but luckily the cable could be replace because it's a common 2-prong power cord). Also like the bike in the video, twist throttle thus cannot be easily removed physically... though my first ride the chain fell off almost immediately because the derailleur was not tuned right (so I needed a throttle to get home). 90% of the time I use it to crawl to or out of a stop, and the other 10% I'm not around people.
No bell (there is a horn) but I got a basic bell (looks same as in video) for $12 at the local shop.

I am glad you are continuing to cover folders. I have had five, and at one time owned 11 bikes of all kinds. I guess I have owned 20+ in my 50 years of cycling. Now I own a new gravel bike, a very good vintage road bike, a Dahon Mariner 7-speed 20" folder and a Plug E-bike. The Plug is very similar to the Gotrax but has 16" wheels - and I use 1.35 Marathons. I want a bike like a sports car, not an SUV! It only weighs 35 lbs. Mine is 350W and 36V, and gearing is about 64" (fixed). I have 3 levels, about 15-20kms/hr; 20-25 and 25-30. I never use 3 because I can't spin fast enough to go much faster than 25 anyway. (My last city bike was a 700C fixie.) I agree that yours has more power. But it would help if you actually measure the pitch of your test hills. I can go up the 10%er outside my place, but it takes all my, and its, power. But I never have to stand. BTW the range on it is about 75kms, with hills and headwinds.
My cheap brakes could be better, but you should know that rear brakes on any bike are not as effective as front ones. That is why the pads last longer. I am thinking about getting those one-piece hydraulics you have. But my gravel bike has dual-piston TPR mechanicals and they are great.
I paid $850 Cdn for mine. That’s about $650USd, and I wouldn't pay much more. My Dahon Mariner cost $1100Cdn now! My gravel bike was over $2000, and I am tempted to do a front-hub conversion on it! But after 10,000 kms and two years, the Plug will continue to be my city bike.

I have a Gotrax EBE08 Mountain bike 500w with a 750w peak bike and I can confirm that Gotrax selects motors for torque more than speed. I've added a 52v battery and an unlocked display and I've only gone from 32km/h to 37km/h however I can outclimb my friends bike which is a 750w motor with a 1000w peak. With the 52v 15amp battery on there with a full battery I'm pulling 825w peak on the 15amp controller and it's only a 52lbs bike so hills are not a problem at all. You won't go that fast but it will keep whatever speed you get through hills and dips better than motors that are built for speed. And as a side bonus you'll get more range at the slightly slower speeds. In my city 37km/h is actually too fast for the bike lanes with all the phone zombies, people clued out like someone gave them 20cc's of Thorazine, People using the bike lane as an extended sidewalk. etc. The mechanical brakes are actually not too bad on mine with better pads, however I ordered some cable actuated hydraulic brakes which are a straight bolt on to give a little more braking power. They are not as good as a full hydraulic system but you should get around 30-50% better braking power on already a light bike to begin with compared to straight mechanical. How many amps are you pulling on that bike? Hit the mode button until you see "cur" then do the calculation. Ie if you are pulling 10 amp thats 48vx10 or 480 watts at nominal voltage. Most 350 motors have an 11 or 12 amp max controller so peak would be around the 550-600 range. I think this would be perfect as a little runabout on a camper or RV. You don't want to toodle into town in a huge ass motorhome to get a jug of orange juice. You could have a bike rack on the back of the RV with two of these puppies for excursions away from the campsite. Buy a spare or larger battery to take with you and you could ride all day.

@@zerocal76 It looks like an excellent beginner foldable e-bike especially if the price is right. However I didn't see him try to get into the settings to see if the display is unlocked. On my bike, even when I only had a 48v battery just adding an unlocked display added another 3 mph. Adding a 52v battery gave another 3. The one excellent thing about this bike is the 48v system. I can't tell you how much of an advantage that is. First it's going to be more torquey, it will lose less speed as the voltage goes down or sags. Plus you are going to get a lot more range. Just for that reason alone this is a serious contender as you can always add better lights and a horn and all the bicycle crap cheaply to add some of those premium features cheaply. I really wish he went into the settings. Also I'd wager if he pressed the mode button there is at least an amp usage meter. Without looking at the settings of the display myself I can't see on how "tweakable" it is. But on the surface it's an excellent choice. Those smaller wheels mean it's going to climb hills very well. I would have also liked to get a peak at the controller but this review, while good, is not very technical. But you may not care to tweak it or even know what the hell I'm saying so it's fine. If you like the bike and don't care about going past 20mph, which is still fast, then yes buy it.

Never buy an ebike without gears.
If the motor or battery fails while you're out somewhere, you're screwed!

48V7.8Ah is very pathetic for a bike like that. At least try to make it 48V20Ah for the electric bike.

That's how those companies work man. The average man wouldn't be knowledgeable when it comes to electric bikes so they take advantage of your ignorance and over charge for pathetic specs. It's sad really lol

    • @burn1gotbeats
      @burn1gotbeats Před rokem

@@steverobertson932 to be honest the F1 looks like it might have a bigger motor and it has a bell lol the Lectric Xp lite has a 300 motor peaks at 720
the F1 has a 350 motor I’m not sure of the peak power but they both do 20mph so they’re basically are the same might be a good deal.
I would haft to ride the F1 to be fair but I hope you will be riding soon.🤞

@@steverobertson932the major difference between the F1 and XP Lite is the Gotrax has an actual tail/brake light which for me and for most people that love night riding is important..and it's 200 bones less...

I've been riding this bike for about a month czcams.com/users/postUgkxwC0IIeIomGQVeBWg-kKJaToZkLEFIA2W and a half now and I think it's fantastic. It helps me get to work on time every day since I'm able to fit it inside of public transportation rush hour. The price is great too, people are always shocked when they ask me how much I paid for the fold up and I tell them "200". It's easy to fold and installation when it ships is insanely easy. All you have to install when the bike arrives is one foot pedal, everything else is done for you. I do recommend you carry some sort of wrench to tighten any loose screws on the handle bar and seat whenever they get a little bit loose. Other than that I think it's a fantastic bike. Easily fits in the home, can fit inside a car trunk and can even fit in subway rush hour.
