He also doesn’t seem to grasp one important concept. When you want to go out on your boat and you trailer it, you go to the store, tackle shop, or other errands prior to hooking up your trailer to your vehicle. I’ve got a similar size boat and I trailer it. I’d never be in this position in the first place because hooking my boat up to my truck is the last thing I do in preparation for my trip. In other words, I get all my drinks, bait, etc before hand hooking it up.

I disagree with your statement that "respect is earned". I think a more correct statement would be that disrespect is earned. By default, you should treat everyone that you encounter with respect. You should only treat people disrespectfully if they've earned it. This little punk was disrespectful immediately to this officer. The officer in no way deserved to be talked to the way that this boy was talking to him. The officer deserved to be treated with respect by default, just as any person deserves. Who wants to live in a world where people get to automatically treat you poorly until they feel that you've earned enough respect in their eyes to receive basic courtesy? Not me.

😅I worked as a volunteer in policing in Florida (20 yrs ago). The cars flock to the publix curbs like flies. The excuse is always that it was only a couple of minutes. Or they'd say, I'm not moving until that other car does. You'd shoo them off, they'd circle the building and park there again. It's an endless parade of entitled shitheads.

I once met such a big ego kid who parked right behind me and I was legally parked in a handicap spot. So, not only was he partially blocking a handicap parking space, he was also parked in a fire lane. He came out as I was taking a picture of his perfect parking so he was very upset at me. He has muscle but he was almost a foot shorter than me. So, it was like a teenager giving a fit. I said, if you don’t know how to drive a 150 truck pulling a tiny camper the size of a Civic, DON’T DRIVE SOMETHING THAT LONG! He started whining, “there is no place to park something this long!”
I looked over to the parking lot, three rows over there were THREE sets of back-to-back parking spaces that his entire thing could have pulled into, but his fit lazy ass was too entitled to walk. Instead of apologizing, he was actually trying to pick a fight with me. Nothing could hide his feeling of inferiority complex because he was vertically challenged.
Even here in Minnesota I see a lot of boats and some big where they park using common sense and not blocking the fire lane. Even 5th wheel campers, we never have any issues.

Every Publix that I've been to has a local LEO on site during operating hours. That said, I've seen them ticket cars parked in the FZ and then call for a tow truck. I saw an LEO arrest a 70+ year old woman who demanded that they stop hooking up the car and tried to enter it while it was being dragged onto the flatbed. They don't mess with parking in the FZ at a Publix.
