    As a wrap/detail shop owner, I greatly appreciate that you took the time to explain that what we charge is fair for the skills we have and time we take to do it *right*. It can be done DIY for someone with a basic understanding, but not everyone has the patience (or minutia) and not everyone WANTS to spend the time doing it (not to mention the wasted material for the panels that will eventually be messed up if it's a first try).

      You’re not lying, I was so confident I could wrap a car just fine. Then after using vinyl wrap once I realized that my results will not be the same as your guy’s and it’s a skill that comes with lots of time and practice.

    I ordered my flares, got them painted, they look great. But now comes the cut my car and drill holes and riv nut and weather proofing. It’s not necessarily the “expensive” part, but it is the do it right the first time part.

      I recently took the license plate holder off the front of my car and found out whoever put it there just drilled it into my front bumper :(

      @@RandoManFPV it would look better if you would get the whole bumper re painted imo because it's hard to match old paint to new paint. Or you could just leave the holes there as ugly as they are

    Window tint is one you could do yourself but I wouldn’t really recommend it; it’s better left to a specialist. But with that said getting your windows tinted can save you money in that it will keep the interior of your car cooler and prolong the life of your seats by preventing them from becoming crusty and ripping as well as potentially preventing the cracking of plastic interior components

    • @patricklikesmusic1
      @patricklikesmusic1 Před 2 lety +4

      I am very handy, I've worked at a dealer on land rovers and Cadillacs, I've worked professionally on jet skis, I've worked for an auto upholstery shop where I did interiors, paint, convertible tops, seat cover replacements and repairs, full frame off restoration off 69 firebird and close to that level on a 71 cutlass 442 with rebuilding the 455 and swapping to manual trans. I can do vinyl wrapping no problem. I've done all my own work on all my cars and families cars. I do restaurant equipment repair and general handyman stuff. I will never try tint again.The 2 times I've tried tint it turned into a nightmare. It's the one thing I will gladly shove cash into someone else's hands before I try that again. It's one of the best mods especially here in Florida.

      Oh, I did eventually get my tint on. Got it on my srt4 before a meet. Then I saw all the little dust particles and beard hair that the wind blew into it. I should say that ok maybe do your own tint but have alot of spare time, spare material, patience and an indoor space with a wall to kick out your frustrations. Hahahahaha!

    I am working on a 02 Mitsubishi lancer right now.. I have a junk one i use for a parts car, for some of the body mods I have done currently I use my 06 junker for a test run.. sure not everything is perfect but with a little attention to detail, critical thinking and taking notes I have been able to do everything myself so far and it has turned out pretty good, just have to focus, relax and don't get disheartened.. if your cutting fenders, you have 4 to practice on before cutting into your baby, ect.

    • @postalpancho
      @postalpancho Před 2 lety

      I recommend not ever using OTS maps permanently. Just run them so your engine can be running somewhat safe while you look for a tuner that can do it right. I’ve seen dynos of 2 same cars, bone stock, similar mileage and conditions but one makes 15hp more. Every engine is different and OTS maps can’t account for that. You absolutely need a tuner if you plan to do any serious hooning.

    • @grantkendrick277
      @grantkendrick277 Před 2 lety

      @@postalpancho I guess it depends on your use case. My mk7 GTI has an ots tune from a very reputable company, and with no real mods it (should) make just over 300 hp and just under 400 tq at the crank and I've seen it verified by Dyno sheets. If it's on the conservative side that's fine with me as it's my daily

    • @postalpancho
      @postalpancho Před 2 lety

      @@grantkendrick277 less hp doesn’t mean the tune is more safe. You can be damaging your engine and not knowing about it. You can have a custom tune and it will be better for your engins reliability and hp

    Changed the front springs on my Volvo V50 (one was broken) and let me tell you, that was h**.
    Not only was it a pain to get the damper out of spindle “cup thing” and then getting it back in, beating it on and off with a hammer, than to make it even more fun, someone put lock tight on the lower control arm (on a “lock nut”) we wrenched it so har that the nut was completely deformed when we finally got it off, than we had a repeat of the pains of the first side.
    Compare that to how much better it is on the Volvo P2 platform where you just have to losen two bolts with nuts (and the small 3 on top) and you start to see why i like the P2 platform so much (we have 3 of those in the family, i have a 2001 P24 S60 2.4T M56 and my parents have a 2001 P26E V70 2.4 140 M56 and a 2006 P26E V70 Bi-Fuel M56).
