  • A week on the wrist with my new Tudor Black Bay Pro. Comparing it to my Rolex Explorer II. Is the Tudor Black Bay Pro more accurate than a Rolex Explorer II, is Tudor now making better tool watches than Rolex?

    Hi Cheyne, always thought there wouldn’t be much between these two timepieces the Rolex will always be more classy but the Tudors are tough and very robust

    My BB58 has the same clasp mechanism, minus the T-Fit feature. When I take it off, I first unhook the locking part, then I grasp the clasp on both sides with my thumb & forefinger & simply pull straight up. The ceramic bearings are really smooth!

    Great video Cheyne! I'm with you on the BB Pro and the Explorer II. I have them both. I can see why people cross shop them, but they are incredibly different. One pro for the Pro is it's much cheaper and you don't mind banging it around as much. When I'm wearing a Rolex I'm really careful not to bang it on anything where as the Tudor I just wear. I think there's room in a collection for both....and mine are both the black dials.

    Maybe the accuracy fluctuation is due to it being brand new. My Tudor black bay pro is much more accurate than my Explorer 2 226570 -2.0 secs vs +0.3 secs but I guess every watch is different. Both are rock steady with no noticeable variances.

    I love my Explorer II so much. I’ve had it about 2.5 weeks and it runs 1-2 seconds slow consistently. I know this is within spec but I am jealous of the accuracy of yours! Any suggestions for me? I can probably get over it eventually but wanted your thoughts.

      I have got a Submariner 124060, I keep the crown down at night (the watch stands on the crown) and it still maintains 0 seconds per day.
      Try it

    • @cheynewalls
      @cheynewalls  Před 6 měsíci +1

      A little trick, when you are setting the time on your watch, wind it past the actual time by about 20 minutes and then bring it back to the exact time. This might help, and the more you wear it the better. My Explorer II is pretty much day accurate when I'm doing a lot of hiking wearing watch a lot. Cheers

    I assume the competition was cancelled as there are "lottery" laws in the USA. I think CZcams channels have to be careful with how they run the competition, and it should be free to enter the competition etc.

      I also owned the explorer 2 but in a black dial, and it wasn't even close, but I sold that one because it was a bit too big. it wears larger than 42 and while I loved it also, again, a dealbreaker. gmt2 is the ultimate one to go for

      I just fell in love with the Polar Rolex Explorer II, The 42mm fits my wrist perfectly. It has that great explorer history, extremely durable & tough while having an amazingly accurate movement. I like the GMT Master 2, the only problem is that everyone who sees it knows its a Rolex, it such a popular watch. The Polar Rolex Explorer II is a lot more under the radar.

    Too many squares (snow flakes) on the Tudor. It would be like the Rolex having three Mercedes hands on it. Not a good look 😢

    • @JLUnit416
      @JLUnit416 Před 6 měsíci

      That was one of my hang ups with the Black Bay 58 and it wasn't so much because there were too many snowflakes, though that can be argued. I felt there were too many different shapes on the dial.
      I ended up buying a Pelagos 39mm, the snowflakes look more cohesive with square indices, IMO.
      I've also grown to like the Black Bay 54, because it toned down the snowflakes, however, I just don't feel it has a place in my current collection.

    • @Anonymouslyme1
      @Anonymouslyme1 Před 6 měsíci +1

      The Rolex hands look a lash up, there are 4 completely different hands that don’t match one another, the Tudor has a set of hands that match one another, overall the Tudor is a better considered design. I own both watches also, there not much between the two overall.

    Without the crown guards the Polar would provide a similar feel. As a tool watch I’d MUCH prefer the crown guards. The lack of guards in the Tudor exposes the crown during true “Explorer” scenarios. The bracelet is light years better on the Rolex. I’d have no problem giving my teen son the Tudor- but a gentleman deserves a Rolex.

    • @cheynewalls
      @cheynewalls  Před 6 měsíci

      I like the idea of the crown guards, and yes the bracelet is better on the Rolex, but the Tudor Pro is a good watch for anyone, Gentleman or not. :) Cheers
