    I got one 6 weeks ago, bought on the grey market, prices have come down now and the premium was only 350 € over MSRP, so no need to play the waiting game at the AD. I wore it since then for 15 days.....but somehow I don´t connect with this watch....I am already thinking of selling it....but I am gonna hang on for while...give it some more wrist time....perhaps it is a slow burner and needs to grow on me.....but it certainly is not big love from the beginning as I sometimes have with other watches.

    Just curious how long your exposure times are that accuracy matters. If you have a cheaper Seiko with a -20 to +40 second accuracy over 24 hours, when you're doing a 10 minute exposure, that's a quarter second off at the most. Over 10 minutes I doubt that's going to ruin your photo. Over a 10 second exposure that's 0.004 seconds. I don't think accuracy is that important when timing exposures.

    • @cheynewalls
      @cheynewalls Před 10 dny

      You are right, its not the biggest deal with accuracy on my camera exposures, B&W film development or fine art printing. The longest out of all those things could be about 10 hours, where a few seconds doesn't matter, in short term. Long term however, Its that Rolex watches are tough and durable enough to hold that accuracy over decades of abuse in the filed. I have had a few Seiko watches that after a year or so in the field, lose accuracy up to an hour or two over the day. That then becomes a problem, not only for my camera exposures, but if I'm out on a two week expedition in the wilderness with no cell phone (because I can't charge it). Cheers

    Because it's the ugliest Rolex and looks much, much cheaper than its retail price. It looks like a cheap Timex. I agree it's a great watch functionally, but aesthetically it doesn't cut it for many people.

      @cheynewalls Před 11 dny

      I would agree its not the best looking Rolex Watch, but I wouldn't say at all it looks cheap. Yes, a bit silly looking with its big case size, massive dial and big orange GMT hand. That is why I personally love it! It doesn't take itself to seriously, fun meets rough and tough utilitarian. A true feeling tool watch and epic out in the field.

Have always avoided Sub's in favour of Sea-Dwellers, but always felt a Sub was the ultimate one and done. I stopped in my AD Saturday and they had both the Sub date and the Explorer II polar in stock. I am determining which one to purchase. I purchased a new Sub date from this AD in 2006. That salesperson advised they are not selling those watches. Is this normal or will they eventually sell one of those to me?

      Oh wow, that is the only story I have heard they had both the Rolex Submariner & Explorer II in stock. I'm still hearing from alot of people they're waiting 3 to 8 months.

      @@cheynewalls Yes. I was somewhat surprised. They had quite a few models in stock. You can definitely tell the inventory is coming back rather quickly and demand has leveled off. The Sub was in the window and the saleswoman said what do you think of the Explorer II? I said it’s sharp. She said here it is. Try it on.

      Well I disagree, I can't use my phone or a quartz watch to tell time or time my camera exposure when camping or spending a lot of time in sub-zero temps. Anything with small uninsulated batteries just die, the battery goes flat. Therefor I need a well build mechanical watch as a tool. That can also be said for my long 2 to 3 week explorations out into the woods. Can't recharge your digital watch or phone, and found the best is again a well build mechanical tool watch.

    I had this same TRD PRO and the dealer last spring offered me $41,500 for it and I couldn’t refuse considering I paid $46k almost 5 years prior. I only had around 31,000 miles and I did take good care of it. 2 days ago I traded in a 2023 TRD Off Road 4Runner for a new 2024 TRD PRO TACOMA. All I can say is WOW!!! Only got 100 miles on it but it’s a pretty phenomenal truck. Definitely with the eight speed automatic there is no gear searching very smooth. I worry about the hybrid when it has as many miles on it as your truck but right now I’m pretty impressed. Those TRD pro seats are pretty wild. I haven’t had the truck off-road yet, but looking forward to it with those shock absorbers in the seats. The price was the big thing almost $20,000 jump from my 2018 TRD pro. But I have to say it looks amazing and I see a huge difference between my truck and the TRD off-road and sport. I think the first time they’ve actually made significant upgrades on the TRD pro over the other trim levels. Anyway, enjoy your scenery and love seeing my old taco in action.! Aloha🤙🏻

    Dude, add some variety to your collection! Rolex is allright but the collection is so one dimensional and boring. If you're going to keep your collection at the mid level range, definitely add a couple Omegas or maybe a JLC or Zenith. Soooomething to add variety. I own a current sub and GMT blnr and appreciate them for what they are: mid level tool watches. I get so much joy from my Omegas, GS, and JLCs as well with different dial varieties! By the way, none of these are haute horology. Not even close. Rolex, Omega, Breitling , Zenith, etc are all mid level mass produced watches. Great watches for sure but far from haute horology. Haute horology u have to go to Lange, Gronefeld, Patek, FP Journe, etc.
