    One of the most important pieces of equipment in a Nature photographer’s arsenal isn’t always part of his or her camera bag - it’s their vehicle, tool watch and specialized gear. Much more than a method of getting from location to location, or the prefect instrument of keeping time can mean the difference between capturing or missing an epic shot.

    This was NOT a boring update , we actually look forward to the next long term video, I have a 2021 Tacoma TRD off road 4x4 with a slight lift on it and on one size bigger tire and do get around 24MPG on the highway, I bought the truck brand new and now with 61k miles on it and honestly it lives off road some easy trails and some very difficult off camber steep hill trails and the truck just shines , it has never let me down . I can’t say enough good things about it , just absolutely love it .
    Great work bud and keep the updates coming 👍🏻
    Cheers 🍻

      Cheers, thank you Peter. Yes they are great trucks and so dependable. With some many things to worry about while working on location, my Tacoma is not one of them.

    My 2019 Tacoma just hit 100K. I've been very happy with my taco. The dealerships are awful. They don't have a central system of checking off "to do's". Same issue as you, every time I go into my local dealership, they tell me I need to do the same things. I ask them to take it off the list and they say "OK" like it's possible, but it's really not, so I keep a detailed list. I found a local guy off my Taco Facebook group and he does a lot of the bigger stuff for 1/2 the price, so I take it there.

      Yeah its a bummer, Never had this dealership problem with my Subaru. Good to know about the price discount, I'm currently looking for a place to take my Tacoma moving forward. Cheers

    I have the same same truck with cap 2017 Cement. I agree 100% Toyota Service is horrible but their 3rd gen tacoma is low maintenance for the the most part. Been watching your channel since you bought this truck. I upgraded the Stereo so I can have android auto/iphone I only have about 77K and plan on keeping it til about 200k. Keep on trucking 😉

      Love that Cement color. Yeah good point, even with the bad Toyota service at least the truck is low maintenance. A new stereo might be in the near future for me. Cheers

    My 2017 SR5 4x4 hit 118k oil change every 5k, I just changed out the shocks, some tie rod ends, fluids regularly maintained - it’s 3” lifted on 33s with Icon parts
    Truck is fantastic and still feels solid and dependable- I do not go to the dealership, do my own maintenance except the breaks, had the drums replaced, roters under warranty etc. best truck I’ve ever had but it takes maintenance

    Love these videos on the truck check in! I have the exact same truck. Year/mode/color at 89,000 miles and have had zero problems whatsoever. Knock on wood but this truck has been bulletproof. Best car I’ve ever owned. Hope to get 300k+ miles on it. Previously owned a 2006 Toyota 4Runner that got 276k. Toyotas are just that darn good. Appreciate the effort and quality of these videos. Great job.

    Thank you for this video. Im so sick of you tubers doing "long term testing " of trucks at 10k miles. I bought my tacoma in 2022. This video , and the giant price increases on trucks in just the last 2 years, gives me confidence i made the right call in 2022.

      You did, I remember my wife telling me go get a Tacoma in 2017, I was on the fence as I’d hade prev gen Tacomas which were great but thought I needed a Dodge or something- anyway happy as can be with once new 2017 SR5 and now just broken in truck, best decision

    Cheyne, I live in Long Beach, own a 2019 Tacoma 4X4 in cement, and we waved to each other once. I use "The Toy Shop" in Cypress. Impeccable service. In terms of the local dealers, I only use Cabe Toyota. Also very good. I steer clear of West Coast...

      @cheynewalls  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Hey Chris, great to hear from you! Thank you for this, I'll check them out.
      Oh man, I tried out West Coast Toyota, the worst. I had just gotten BRAND NEW tires from a third party, West Coast had the nerve to tell me I needed new tires after only 10K. As well as 101 other things that didn't need to be done. Cheers

    Does your cab on the back make you leaf springs sag or negatively affect the ride? Very helpful video!!

    • @cheynewalls
      @cheynewalls  Před 4 měsíci

      Not that I have noticed. But then again I got the cab put on only days after I got the truck. Never really drove the truck without it. Cheers

    Per Fox, you should have had two shock rebuilds by now (every 50k). How is the suspension holding up?

    • @cheynewalls
      @cheynewalls  Před 4 měsíci +1

      The suspension is holding up well . I actually asked about that at my 110K checkup and the technician said the shocks looked in great shape.

    What kind of Goodyear Wranglers do you have?? There are lots of different types (ie. DuraTrac, Workhorse, Adventure with Kevlar, etc) Looking for new tires for my 2018!

    • @cheynewalls
      @cheynewalls  Před 4 měsíci +3

      All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar. Good tires, not the best "hardcore" off-roading, but great all around long lasting tire. Cheers

    Just tell whatever dealership you’re at to get off their lazy ass and put in your VIN# at it’ll show them Exactly what has been done and at what point of mileage the other dealer did it and the date of service.
    If they’ve already done the work and didn’t check your vehicle VIN# or get your permission, then that dealership has to eat the costs.
    Our local Ford dealership did the exact same thing with our old Ford Ranger.
    I didn’t authorize new ball joints, calipers, rotors. I went in for new front brakes, an alignment and oil change. I supplied the oil, filter and crush washer.
    So they wanted to charge me $2,989 for a $600 job.
    And then they used their synthetic blended oil.
    The rear wheels did need new calipers and brakes on the rear as well. But they had to eat the rotors and immediately change the oil again using the full synthetic oil that I had provided.
    Screw Pat Armstrong Ford in East Wenatchee, WA.
    I promptly sold my 36K mile Ranger XLT super cab 4WD and then bought a new 23 Tacoma TRD double cab with Premium and Technology pkgs and a 6’ bed.
    My Tacoma is now almost a year old and I have 7K miles on it.

      Thanks for the info, Yeah they have my VIN and everything, but still they tell me I need to do thinks that have recently been done. You will love that truck. Cheers

    California? I'm sorry dude... Badass TRD pro! Look up 300K Tacoma watch what that dude says! You're truck gonna last u a long ass time! 500K doubtful but 300-400K possibly best of luck. I just changed my front diff & God damn did they (dealership) have that 🔩 on their so tight! The front diff actuator was bad so they just changed it like 2 months ago & it was still extremely hard with a 1' ratchet I had to use my foot 🦶 to get the 🔩 off I couldn't even open it with my arm strength 🤦 either I'm a pussy or it's way overtightened like a mofo haha. God bless 🙏💯🛻💨😎
