STARHENGE: 'A future Merlin travels to 5th-century Britain to prevent monstrous time-traveling killer robots from robbing the universe of magic, and Amber Weaver’s lively present-day narrative reveals how she becomes drawn into a war across time!'
What a crap synopsis. Who the hell is Amber Weaver? Pics, since I assume she's a looker? And what do you mean, 'future Merlin'? Is that just Merlin, but from the future? Why is the narrative present-day, but the actual story in the 5th century? And time travel, ffs. Killer robots from the future ... trying to 'rob' the universe of magic... future Merlin... a girl called Amber it's giving me a headache already, it sounds so stupid.
Typical IMAGE MURKA MURKA comic with NO writer. No sale I'm afraid, Sharpy. It's back to France for me. Where they don't juice sales with variant covers, and where they hire actual writers and maintain finer, Gallic standards of artistry in BOTH writing AND art.
More people need to listen to Bancroft. He is the Comicsgate Shaman!
Ha! thank you Randy!
If Sharpe is going to reject solutions, what can anyone else do for him?
I've always been confused by the title 'direct market', the mainstream floppy industry couldn't be more INDIRECT with how they sell to shops and shops sell to customers.
Yeah, it's a total misnomer. A hold-over from when it replaced the Newsstand.
The question is what kind of social media presence does Liam Sharp have? Did he create a following? I didn’t see any marketing for Liam’s book.
He has a decent Twitter following. Probably decent on Insta too, but it's REALLY hard to sell books if you're not on CZcams. I didn't see it either, but I haven't been following direct market stuff in YEARS now.
I only knew about Starhenge from having signed-up for email notifications and being a backer of his first(?) Kickstarter, the book Encore GOLD which lead me to SEARCH for any other information online. Sharpe’s publically talking himself out of being indie. Maybe he’s angling for Zoop to scoop his projects up.
There's not even 100,000 speculator/collectors left out there buying Batman and/or X-men, for goodness sake. And if no one is coming into the comic shop to buy Batman or X-men, they're not going to discover some indy title. And even the ones who come into the comic shop, just grab their pull list and, maybe, glance through the long boxes for that one issue that will complete their run of something published in the 1980s. They have been TRAINED by Marvel and DC that there's nothing worth looking at on the "NEW" racks. So, trying to sell your books in niche specialty shops that primarily cater to people buying something OTHER than comics (like MtG or Pokemon cards) guarantees you'll struggle to find an audience. You need to publish online in some way, or sell online. Even if you (like me) are the exact opposite of a person who could ever be a success as a CZcamsr, you can still spend an hour or two a week connecting through OTHER CZcamsrs or advertising on other CZcamsrs.
"I'm afraid I'll never be a youtube guy". This guy needs Malin so bad. EDIT: I should clarify - I meant a pep talk from the coach.
I dont even know who he is.
If he aint Comicsgate he can sink with the rest.
The big 2, r just a big 2.
Comics are booming! - The mainstream pros. No. No they are not.
Good vid!
Representation don’t make you money yup it’s true
I find myself caring less about the nonsensical race swaps, but it does definitely turns me off when the agenda overshadows the story.
Star Henge #1 was such a disappointment that I didn't bother with the rest of the series. Maybe don't blame the market, Liam. Blame the shitty writing.
Oof!
I never actually heard of it until yesterday, and I own quite a few of his books.
@@Michael_Bancroft The art was good enough, but the dialogue was particularly insufferable and the story was all over the place. You didn't miss much.
Never heard of him or his comic. Reading descriptions here, the story is a convoluted mess. It isn't the platform failing his comic. His comic just isn't interesting to enough people.
Maybe somebody with a better story and more audience can hire talented artists who lack those.
What happened
I boomered the original by uploading an unedited 17min version. It was too long, so I cut it down to 15.
More like Comic Book Directly into the trash, amirite guize?
