WHAT AN INSANE DIRECT!
C- ... too much Mario... Wonder, RPG, Mario Vs. DK, and now TYD to end... also F-Zero 99 is only for members, that is disappointing, no Metroid, that is disappointing... Luigi's Mansion 2 HD is releasing in Summer 2024.. that far away, how much development time does that game need? But overall no real bangers...
@@abjames3098 i agree that the direct was mid but it's insane to say the ttyd remake isn't a banger. even with me disliking the original, it's absolutely huge that it exists.
@@FlaringStardust for me it isnt... problem is we have Wonder which will satisfy our platforming cravings... so Mario V Dk four months later is not as exciting... we have Super Mario RPG, which will satisfy our RPG cravings.. and then we have TYD... no diversity.. platformer, platformer, RPG, RPG.. too much Mario, plain and simple...
insane? NO. after TOTK and announcement of mario wonder i was not expecting anything excitement now, may be the next direct but i doubt it

So much more Mario stuff than in the 35th anniversary, this might be because Mario movie did very well
Many of these games would have had to be in development for nuclear longer than that. So I don't think so. It definitely helped though.
The covid pandemic threw a monkey wrench into game development.
As they have said, all these games started development long before the movie came out. Although I can imagine they meant to have synergy with it. It was just planned ahead, instead of being a reaction. Which speaks very highly of how much confidence Nintendo had in the movie.
@@XanderVJ The movie was also in development for way longer than these games, I’d assume they planned for these games to release WITH the movie, which is why we barely got any Mario content in 2022.
_Anything_ would be more than the Zelda fandom got for it's 35th. I would have been SO HAPPY to get even HALF of what originally hit for Mario. 😩
The Princess Peach game looks like Balan Wonderworld, except the developers actually put thought and effort behind the level design and the gameplay
The logo for Princess Peach Showtime looks straight up like a font used for a magical girl anime.

I only ever played Paper Mario 64 (on emulator back in 2019) and Origami King, so I am glad thousand year door is on the way, because as a new player, I do prefer the old paper mario and thousand year door I heard is like paper mario 64, but half the fanbase either had 64 as their favorite game or TYD so I will see which one I like more!
So excited for you man!! While 64 is a classic and Origami King is good in its own right, TTYD is just special. You'll be able to experience it in its (hopefully) best form :)
TTYD is the BEST paper mario and arguably the best GameCube game of all time. You will love it. I feel like it's rare for a Nintendo game to have 30+ hours of gameplay, so this is worth every penny.

Because it's not just a Disney character in a Nintendo property anymore, but rather a Disney character as Nintendo MERCHANDISE. You'd expect Disney to go Heisenberg and tell Nintendo "Stay out of my territory", but instead a deal was struck
Pardon my language, but Princess Peach is a badass in her new game, even more so then she is in Super Princess Peach.
Also, I hope Nintendo makes a museum guide application for the Nintendo Museum on the Nintendo Switch, like they did for the Louvre on the Nintendo 3DS.
After seeing how badass Princess Peach is in the Mario movie, & she’s playable for Mario Bros Wonder, & now Nintendo said: “This is Peach’s time to shine all the way!” They literally went all in making this new game, and its already looking good💯😁

26:30 when you went all “I’d told ya” multiple times, it reminded me of Dan Mintz from Bob’s Burgers as Tina in an early episode where she went all “and again and again”. Happy to see the final amiibo and wonder if they’ll milk it one final time with a complete collection version.
As for the tomb raider collection, I’m excited and the release date being Valentine’s Day is funny. The woman who appeared when so many current gamers got their “awakenings” of sorts because of her is like an innuendo. And having it switch graphics style reminds me of Disney gargoyles remastered and the sega genesis Disney collection of similar style with graphics alteration.
It does make me a bit sad when another code got both games collected together from different Nintendo systems for the switch, Luigi’s mansion 2 from the 3ds coming to switch, and yet for new detective pikachu 2, there wasn’t an announcement of the first game coming to switch. It just feels like a bit of missed opportunity.
I love the new gameplay of Princess Peach Showtime where they turned her into a mix of the magical girl trope with that one anime character from the Fairy Tail anime (the redhead named Erza Scarlet) whose abilities was her altering her outfit in a similar style. I kind of hope to see gunslinger peach or maybe songstress peach like Yuna from FFX-2.
The new gameplay mechanic and post boss rematch for super Mario rpg is a fun edition and kind of raises my hopes for seeing new Final Fantasy-based secret bosses like Gilgamesh or Behemoth
Also you’re not wrong about WarioWare with that butt movement pose, I feel like that’s going to get some backlash in the coming days
What I was hoping to hear from this direct was more games coming to NSO, mostly the Tiny Toons games from Super Nintendo, because the reboot Looniversity came out on streaming and tv last week and it would have been perfect because I know Buster Busts Loose is a beloved game from that era and they honestly slacked with getting animaniacs games onto the switch when the revival was around. I know it’s weird to say that but when they got that video game based on a Warner bros movie onto switch (quest for Camelot) it just raised questions in my head for that. Although the answer for that is probably licensing between Warner Bros, Konami, and Nintendo for getting those old games back

0:55 Acht is an in-universe musician introduced back in Octo Expansion under the stage name Dedf1sh. She is a "Sanitized" (read: undead and brainwashed) Octoling who still had enough free will to flee back to the surface and piece her psyche back together. Glad to see her show up in the game proper.
I'm probably the only one more hyped for Another Code Recollection than anything else revealed here.
I remember seeing it featured in one of my Nintendo Power magazines, Trace Memory, I think it's called.

THIS! is the TTYD storyline that was straight up badass I've got many, many, fond memories of TTYD. the glitz pit, the great bogly tree, the fricking excess express! mama flippin' MIA I'm so hyped for the return of this game! from the game-cube to the Switch let's fricking mega go!

Fun fact the Bandle Tale game is being developed by Lazy Bear Games the same devs that made Graveyard Keeper and Punch Club
Metroid prime 2 and 3 remaster are going to be inevitable at some point too. Who knows Metroid prime 4 or whatever the next big metroid will be called will even make it on the switch. Paper Mario and the thousand Year door is something that I'm sure that we all wanted and will appreciate
I hope they come too switch since i haven't played them before.
To be honest, I don't see another prime remaster within the same year as the first. I'd say the next will probably appear in next year's February direct.

But, on the other hand, I seriously doubt they'll make balance changes for Ultimate. Most likely they'll just add the amiibo compatibility and be done with it. So, for anyone who's expecting character changes or whatnot, it's better to temper your expectations.

@@jeffdcgamer1077 I‘m aware of that. But that doesn’t mean the franchise needs to be oversaturated like this. Like I‘m super hyped for Mario Bros Wonder, it‘s my most anticipated Switch game next to Prof. Layton at the moment. I‘m also looking forward to the Paper Mario remake, the Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remake and of course the final wave of Mario Kart DLC, plus Wario Ware and that Princess Peach game look interesting. But there’s a lot more to Nintendo than Mario, and it feels like they‘re putting most of their eggs in one basket again. Just like 2010-2013 Nintendo.

But I can only be so excited for a remake of a fan favourite Mario RPG as a final announcement, when last Direct we got the reveal of a remake of a fan favourite Mario RPG and also a Mario game as the final announcement.
