I went to a job like that. The people living in the house actually wanted the old Arkla-Servel gas unit fixed. Didn’t end up fixing it and walked away.

The HVAC is the least of their problems... Yeah I would have bailed too. That place needs some serious attention before even considering a new system. Looks like it was abandoned.
I fuond something much like this in a house that I bought. I am not a HVAC tech but I can fix anything. I ordered schematics and slowly tested and reassembled everything. I followed a lot of videos on YT. I pressure tested with Co2 I got charged at an Airsoft store, pulled a vacuuum, recharched through a new cleaner dryer and the system works perfectly.
@@AnX8765 oh I did find a leak and I fixed it. I bought that brazing solder for HVAC and the flux as well and used my propane oxygen setup. Actually pretty easy. That's a whole new kind of "soldering" for me.
@@Nessal83 No. I used carbon dioxide to pressure test and find the leak. Once I found it I released the CO2, brazed the leak, pressure tested again to confirm the leak was sealed, pulled a nice deep vacuum, and then pumped in a new supply of r-410A. The system ended up blowing nice cold air and it's still working excellent right now. Not that hard to do really. Just use logic, read schematics, pick up good advice from experts, and work thoughtfully.
that would be a total replacement, only way to fix it is to undo everything, go through the wiring diagrams and hook it all back up correctly and even then I would bet there's air in the system. this is why you don't let tweakers install your system. I wouldn't even mess with it because it's too much liability, they would have to sign a waver where I am not held liable for anything that happens before I would even try

Wish i could say i never saw that before.....but i would be lying. That electrical though. The moment I saw that, I would just have said 'Nope, not worth it. Rip it all out and start from scratch.'
That'd be a pretty cool house if it was taken care of. I think that 1st they need to call a cleaning crew......... then at least the tradesmen will be working in a more pleasant environment.
Hahaha a realator cleaning up before they make us wade through rotting garbage and rat squeeze that would be like finding a leprechaun riding a unicorn.
Huh? The house already has duct work in place, why not use it? So you would have to hang a mini split in each room taking up wall space and run lines to each unit (and I assume power also), probably have some kind of central manifold mini split. But it seems odd to abandon that. I suspect a mini split wouldn't be any cheaper either.

It looks like you need an electrician out there too.

I would love to see a time lapse video of how that system went from working to that.
The system is almost two tons oversized. I'm not sure it EVER worked. At least not without freezing up every other day.
That last sentence got me to subscribe!
I would have walked away at 0.41 and most definitely at 1.11. Because once you put your hand on it you are responsible for everything in there. 😮
Good thing you wore gloves You wouldn't want any fingerprints left at the scene!
lol that low side reading 60 psi and no hose on it !!
Oh, that's within manufacturing tolerance of a guage set from china. All kidding aside, noticed the hoses were sunburned.
That’s right Ted!
I had to take a double take when I first looked at those gauges!

That system's only a 2019, must've had a really bad life to be DOA in that short a span.
