It allows him to see 10 seconds into the future. King Crimson's main ability is to "skip" 10 seconds of time. What really happens is time progresses as normal, and that the epitaph's prediction will occur. Diavolo is the exception to the rule cause during "skipped" time, he can deviate from Epitaph's prediction. If Epitaph predicted Diavolo and a man eating cereal. He can "skip" time. The man will still eat the cereal according to the prediction, but Diavolo is free to deviate and chooses to not eat the cereal. After skipped time occurs, the man has no recollection of what occured in skipped time, and will be surprised to find his mouth stuffed with cereal. While in skipped time, Diavolo cannot interact with any object, person, or thing, so even if he wished to keep eating the cereal, he would not be able to do so. He can move in skipped time however. Diavolo can foresee 10 seconds into the future with Epitaph, and if he foresees a bullet hitting his head, he can skip time and either position himself out of harm's way, or simply enter skipped time and let the bullet pass through him. If he found the sniper who fired the gun in skipped time, he must wait until skipped time ends to unleash his counter attack. The sudden shock will momentarily stun the sniper, giving Diavolo the perfect chance to counter attack.
