- Here is the Antonov-225 from Ini Builds and Microsoft. This is a remarkable record breaking aircraft and now we get to fly it in MSFS! Proceeds from it's sale will go to Antonov and their efforts to rebuild the 225 which was sadly destroyed in 2022. In this video I'll show you what this add on is all about and take it for a flight!

I am a real world Airbus pilot with thousands of hours flying the real aircraft and thought it would be fun to have a look at the detailed simulations of the 'bus in MSFS and X Plane. Hopefully you find this useful and it brings another perspective to your simulation. Any thoughts or comments are welcome!

Irish Rail once put an entire diesel locomotive on an AN-125, from Canadia to Dublin. It's the only time a train has ever arrived at Dublin Airport.
Great video, a few notes
- Getting acquainted with the LOCK interaction system for this bird is very recommended, the tooltips will show the actual state of the switch or dial and you can click and drag the dials to scroll them a LOT faster.
- With the taxi lights, the left bar is (UP/MIDDLE/DOWN) EXTENDED/OFF/RETRACTED and the right bar is LANDING/OFF/TAXI
- Throttles: Nothing wrong with your current setup, but you only need to bind throttle 1 and 4, 1 controls 1,2,3 and 4 controls 4,5,6
- The armed position to the speedbrake is actually one position back (where it is when you spawn in, like a Boeing in that you have to pull it back slightly to arm it)
- Vr is the blue bug on the ASI, it's set automatically
- Along with being huge, the flight control surfaces are hydraulically boosted if I'm not wrong, and the control system is actually fly-by-wire, not mechanically linked like the Ruslan
- LVL CHG is the VEL button (English cockpit) for IAS, for mach climb engage MAX.
- Apparently, climb and descent was mostly done with VRTCL (English cockpit - pitch hold button) and adjusting the pitch with the other red knob on the centre pedestal. V/S mode was rarely used.
- The AT is very basic, to the point where it's only really recommended to be used as convenience in the cruise, like on the B742. Recommended climb power is 112 (left gauge)
- ILS CRSes are obtained automatically from the sim navdata, the CRS dial only affects the tuned VOR.
- CPT LAND won't have changed when you first tried to change it as you were too far out.
- The best way to think of the HORIZ., PC and VRTCL buttons is what they control. HORIZ. is wings level, always. It will revert to this mode whenever you change the mode selector dial. PC will always be lateral course. CRS1/2 it will track heading, VOR1/2 it will track the selected course to/from the VOR, NAVIG. it will follow the lateral track, APPROACH it will follow the ILS LATERAL course. VRTCL will in all modes other than APPROACH hold the pitch angle, which as said above can be adjusted on the other red knob.
- Flap speed limits can be found in the manual and also on the in sim checklists
- The VS dial actually shows m/min. With LOCK interaction mode, the tooltip will show the value in ft/min
- Blue bug on approach is Vref I believe
- Flaps 35 is a lot of ballooning. According to the checklist 200 kts is the deployment limit for flaps 35, so you'll probably be flaps 35 before GS intercept anyway
- As you mention, approaches were normally flown by hand
Hope that helps!
A whole tutorial in the comment section. Thanks 👍
You can't control the six engines individually? I was wondering if you could put three Thrustmaster Airbus throttle pairs together.
@@ronstewtsaw currently the sim can't use more than 4 engine axis but that limit should be increased to 16 I think in the next sim update (su12- i think)
@@Mihcar2887 Many thanks. That answers the software part of my question.
fueled the AN-124, never saw the 225. the 124 is in itself a monster, i can only imagine how big this thing is.
I saw the 225 when it came to Perth, Australia, in 2016, when it brought a 117 tonne power generator. It was just so impressive, not only for it's size, but also for the crowds that came to see it! It left early the next day and caused a bit of consternation with ATC as it took ages to get ready for take-off once it was lined up, and the sound as it went overhead was incredible. Hopefully it can either be repaired, or the second airframe completed, so we can once again see this mighty aircraft take to the skies.
The first 225 is totaled, they probably can salvage some fuselage parts and engines, but I doubt there's any point using outdated parts and technology. Antonov is planning to build a 2nd one using an unfinished fuselage they had (2 were planned to be built originally, only 1 was finished).
Many thanks for showing this! Greetings from Kyiv!
How are things in Kyiv nowadays?
@@manifestgtrguess it
@@manifestgtrnot really good
There's some fantastic footage of it out there showcasing just how agile she actually was, a couple of wing wave videos show off that roll capability.
I recently read of a Hunter pilot who flew under the bridge by the Houses of Parliament, causing a fuss, it really would it put the wind up them flying this monster up the Thames, chuckle chuckle might wake the sleepwalkers up. We have all heard of and seen the Dolittle raid flying off USS Hornet, we have just seen the Christov Doalotov Flyinski raid launched. Amazing flying. Imagine doing the run by the Carneddau past Ogwen towards Bethesda turning and coming back via Llanberis Pass in a Lancaster or Hercules or similar.. I sent some happy hours watching Herks flying in pairs down some of the Welsh valleys training for Afghan ops around 2009, the smaller C1 and a few of the stretched ones too. Great flying. Enjoyed this.
An incredible aircraft. I was lucky to see it land at EGNX once. Great video as always - will be flying this a lot! 👍
Absolutely incredible!
Thank you for always delivering amazing content!
Been binging An-225 videos lol Glad to see yours
Practicing this week in an attempt to get her onto 24hr of VATSIM this weekend, the damn GNS530 is my biggest hurdle 😂
I just got this beautiful plane today. it is so awesome!
Its always astonishing to see this beautiful giant is flown with oldschool dials instead of screens and it well... was one of the most relevant air freighters around the globe and especially Europe.
Awesome landing there Sir! I don't comment enough but i love all your videos. I look forward to trying this one out.
Thanks Dean, really appreciate it!
woohoo. was looking forward to your take on it. next stream?
Awesome sight! Getting it for sure.
Absolutely fascinating. I look forward to the real rebuilt aircraft flying over 💩🥫 grave. Subscribed.
Very nice landing in the end there!
Ace. It takes me back to playing TopTrumps - if you had this and the Blackbird you were unstoppable :)
I've found that if you wish to fly vertical speed mode without the constant oscillations that it's best to engage vertical speed mode (click Hз). Say for example you want to pitch down, scroll the wheel just a couple of clicks pitch down. You will then start to see the needle on the indicator begin to pitch down. Let's say we want -750ft/min. When the needle on the indicator reaches this position, press Hз again and then it will actually hold -750ft/min. I can also speak Russian which made the colossal learning curve a mere slightly less, but all the same it was really difficult. Initially I was using the vertical speed mode like yourself. But after a while, I decided to click Hз again and was amazed to find it was holding a constant -750ft/min. Amazing aircraft I must say, so detailed despite the fairly quick development. I hope we will see more features added in new updates. Great video by the way, thank you!
Amazing plane, I need to try It!!!
Damn, really good landing there!
Got this last night. Quick flight out of Prestwick. Manual flight as I looked at the AP functions and thought I best watch vids before attempting that one haha. The sound on full toga is dreamy 🤩
Such a beautiful aircraft! Looks like something out of an alternate reality sci-fi movie i reckon!
Beautiful aircraft 😍
You have to love that they modelled the reek coming out of the engines.
Nice landing
It seems to display the altitude in feet and IAS in knots on the ISIS, so you could probably use that to avoid some of the EFB conversions
Going to take this out of the hangar this evening!
Enjoy! It’s something very different!
hi, how did you make replay of the landing? It is soo cool :)
Any time i have flown this aircraft in other flight sims when going for a landing, the lowest speed i go for is the blue needle as it typically results in a stall if i drop slightly below it.
I don't know what the Yellow and Blue needle means, but my assumption is the Yellow is recommended and the Blue is minimum if going past the Red needle means that the Overspeed alarm goes off.
I hope you are not forgetting about the A32NX project...:(
if you want the AP to fly the glideslope you have to press VRTCL
You can speed the door process up in the option on that screen. I completely lose the cabin when I drop the nose and struggle to move the camera!
I'm hoping that they'll add the AN-22.
Pitch control is how you make it follow gludslope
I will buy it as soon as it gets to XBOX. Would love if you could mount the Buran on it :)
Where did you download this aircraft from? I have this simulator too and don’t see it.
Glide slope is the button right off pc the vrtcl and the wheel is meters per second
According to reports, the second unfinished airframe is still intact, and would be finally be built, and would be powered by Western engines. Sir Richard Branson is reportedly interested in providing monetary support for the build.
Absolutely brilliant ; can you please explain how you managed to increase the altitude in larger increments., I've been clicking everywhere around it but to no avail and am resorting to ctrl page up/down but its still takes ages :(
Many thanks
In the EFB > settings > change it from 1s to 100s
@@jonFezza Wow, would you Adam and Eve it ! Many thanks !
Have you ever thought to be able to fly this airframe? 😊I remember an A380 pilot talking about how fast/effective the control surfaces on the big Airbus working - as you mentioned youre surprised of the AN behaviour. Too bad that Dmytrov Antonov - the AN chief pilot doesnt speak english - as to my knowledge, he has a CZcams channel, too. Otherwise a great interviewee for your podcast... Cheers! 💙
He's already been interviewd on YT and his english is quite good.
@@malcolmclenton1663 Never heard him speak english, so i assumed... Great to hear! Pretty sure he has many interesting stories to tell...💙
why they modeling pilot eyes limit 23.9 fps? i mean what the heck is going on with the fan:)?
You should fly the real thing once it's built :)
Flight level change is the white vel button
hey does anyone have good TCA airbus sidestick sensitiyivy for the 737
Buy a yoke for a 737 it’s unrealistic with a side stick. If ur on a budget buy the Logitech yoke if not honeycomb or boring one
All the money that’s been spent on this will be going towards a new one built 👍

I think they’re selling it too cheap unbelievable add on
great soviet monster but it should be with "buran" on it and with soviet livery
It is russian plane. 🤙
