    That's losing a pound per week. That's generally what you should aim for. How is that not "impressive"? Weight loss is hard enough, don't discourage people by making them feel like they need to lose 10 lbs every week.

    • @alexanderroberts5729
      @alexanderroberts5729 Před 4 lety +9

      1 to 2 lbs per week is best, but he said no diet whatsoever. It always goes a lot quicker for the first week or two, especially if you are watching what you eat. I'm down from 210.6 lbs to 208.5 in 2 days, but I'm burning 1,000 calories every morning, then I eat about 1500-2000 (my normal eating) calories throughout the day and my metabolism keeps me in about a 1000+ calorie deficit.

    I've walked 10k steps everyday for eighteen months and gone from 167kg to 141, which is 367 pounds (just over 26 stone) to 310 pounds (just over 22 stone). I'm 60, white male 1.93m, 6'4". Here's my thoughts.
    Walking is brilliant for general physical and mental health benefits. It does help tone the body and assist with weight loss. However, fat loss only happens with controlling what you eat, portion size and a balanced diet of protein, fat and carbohydrates.
    Fad diets are BS. To reduce fat (often a good idea to increase muscle, which is heavy) it's all about maximizing nutritional value from what you eat AND REDUCING CALORIES. That's it. Carbs aren't you're enemy, nor are fats, nor proteins - it's calories you have to reduce.
    Try to avoid anything in highly designed packets and buy natural whole foods.
    I'm half way to my target which is projected to take three years. The challenge is tough and bumpy, but one million percent worth it. Good luck with your quest.

      You are doing great:) I agree with you but i tend to stay away from fats due to the calories of such little amounts, i swapped to low fat cheese and find creative ways to make food taste amazing in other methods. I get my fats mostly from eggs, some times a hand full of mixed nuts or just little amounts from certain foods. I've found it best to split my meals up to 4-5 meals a day of about 500 calories each meal and it has helped me with not feeling hungry, i use to eat say 2 big meals a day and forever wanted more and would binge. I have fruit on a protein pancake/waffle or french toast in the morning most days and normally its a good 3 portions of fruit as i seem to not get hungry if i have a bigger meal in the morning. My best suggestion to anyone dieting is to make a recipe you enjoy every day that it nearly feels like you are cheating on your diet.. example which can be used as a waffle or pancake; 100g egg whites, 100g low fat cottage cheese, 15g coconut flour, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 43g protein powder and serve with sugar free syrup of choice, calories = 393, protein 60g and this thing makes a big meal. You can make it in other ways without cottage cheese, flour and swap for bread, xanthan gum and changing quantities if don't enjoy that way but i enjoy this way. Basically eat a meal like i just mentioned, meal with lean meat, baby spinach, veggies and make a low cal dressing, make all sorts of things like wraps, curries and such but limit the olive oils because while dieting high fat items will 100% make you fail your diet or you wont be full at all. Oh if i want to have a cheat meal ( i rarely do now ) I will change one of my 5 daily meals to a recipe from Remington James (find him on youtube) I wouldn't suggest eating more than 1-2 of his type of meals everyday as i like to use fresh meat, veggies etc but they can help on them days you struggle.

      Here's MY comment on your conclusion. You're wrong. Caloric deficit doesn't always work with everyone. Some response well to that change of diet/eating habits. Like christian bale examples. He can go from normal to anorexic easily and to jacked. As for me I literally AVOIDED a lot of calories to the point I am hungry often and when I'm hungry I eat chicken breast / cottage cheese. Those are superfoods + I workout until failure + cardio on regular basis (3-4 days per week sometimes 5. Sometimes I include HIIT with little food in stomach and drink plain water / normal uht milk often. And guess what after months ?? NOTHING CHANGE. 🤡🙃 Hence I can safely say all of y'all are either misinformed / lying.

    I found this very interesting because it is much like what I did. I started walking daily about 7 months ago. I have always hiked once a week but since the hikes were getting shorter, I decided to try walking daily to get rid of 7 pounds that I had gained. I try for about 4 miles a day and do hills for the first half hour and then a few more interspersed. Kept my diet pretty much the same and nothing happened for weeks. I was really almost ready to quite, but then the weight started coming off. I think the reason my weight came off so slowly is because I was slender to start with and wanted to lose that 7 pounds before it became 10, so that does affect how fast the weight will come off. Second reason is the I am 72+ so hormones are no longer on my side. You have to work twice as hard to achieve half as much. It is just a fact of life. But I have found that the walks seem to relax me and I breaks up my miles as I get the time. I cannot always get the miles all at once so maybe 2 miles at noon and 2 miles after dinner. Now that my weight is where I want it, I will cut down on my miles. Thanks for sharing your results. Keep up the good work.

      @@darlenerothenay6251 -- I am listening to your words of encouragement.
      I'm about to turn 45 and while I was very healthy for the majority of my life, I let things lapse awfully over the past decade as I concentrated predominantly on my career. Now, I'm trying to correct all the physical neglect and walking between 6 - 10 miles a day on my treadmill has proven to be hugely beneficial. My body isn't breaking down the way it tended to when I pushed myself too hard physically and I don't find myself as hungry as I used to after strenuous exercise; therefore, I can cook prepared meals and stick to them without the unexpected late night binge fiascos that would usually derail weightloss efforts. Walking has helped me to also be more peaceful, which is a huge bonus.
      Yes, the weight's coming off more slowly, but I don't mind. After neglecting my body for a decade, it's been nice to spend time nourishing it back to health.

Its simply great and result oriented. Its boosts lots of energy. But one day i had chapathi for my dinner n went on but i felt very dehydrated on that day. Soon i came home after half an hour and had lemon juice and continued again. 1st week i tried walking after having breakfast n lunch. This week I'll try not to have brkfst n dinner. Just I'll have some salads or fruits n I'll go for walk. Let me see. I'm excited. I'll share my results for sure.. Thanks so much🤗😊

    There is a lot to concentrate in walking...stride length, cadence ( 120-140 strides per minute is my usual range) foot strike style and location. Keep doing it and you will no longer be bored once you get used to "moving at walking speed".

    Would it be bad to up the walk? I usually do a hour half walk (2 mph-2.5 mph) on the treadmill and also do walks at work. Thinking of doing 10k treadmill, 10k at work per day step wise (no breaks, I feel breaks interfere with weight loss). I'm at the point that doing treadmill isn't so bad but I'm curious if upping to 10k steps that quick could have negative effects?

    Based on research I've read, one pound a week is pretty typical for 10,000 steps a day. I walk about an hour per day, and the rest of my motion through the day added to that usually totals between 10 and 12 steps per. So, assuming that he's doing regular life activity and he's clearing 2,500 and 3,000 steps per walk, his results are more or less consistent with most of the studies I've skimmed through. 10000 steps a day, burns around 500 cal, multiply that by the seven days of the week and you have 3500, and what are you know? A pound of fat is 3500 calories.
