BMW E60/E61 Rear Differential Fluid Change: Prevent Disaster!

Prevent your rear differential from blowing up and costing you a lot of money by doing this simple DIY. BMW says their differential oil is "lifetime" but that is a lie. Unless by "lifetime" they mean until it blows up, which it will, if you don't change it. You will need:
1. 14mm hex wrench or socket
2. A hand pump designed for oil transfer
3. Fully Synthetic Gear Oil 75W-90
4. A level raised up BMW

Tou might have the one with fins, that has both a drain and fill plug. Procedure is the same except you don't have to suck the old fluid out you just drain it. Crack the fill plug before you undo the drain to make sure its not seized. Cheers
