Closing out the Cirque du Soleil: Journey of Man field show, this exciting arrangement features rhythmic intensity, soaring lyric lines, a fast-paced percussion feature and a powerful reprise of the show's signature theme.

last night was my last time conducting our marching band show as a senior and I remember marching this song as a freshman and for some reason it makes me feel major nostalgia. I love love this opener with all my heart as well as marching band and I can't believe 4 years of flew by this fast. marching band will truly always have a special place in my heart.

Honestly, that’s part of why I went to college locally instead of traveling elsewhere, is so that I could stay in town for the marching band events. Especially the homecoming football game, idk about other schools/districts but the marching band alumni are allowed to actually go join the band for pep tunes, it’s amazing. What’s even better is that we changed uniforms my junior year, and we had the option to buy our old ones, so when homecoming rolled around I got a few others to join me in wearing the old uniforms to the game. It really was something special, to see those few few old uniforms peppered in among the new ones.
God I love marching band.
@@evanvankampen7528 I totally get that! A bit of an update; I didn’t think I would be continuing marching band during college but I’m proud to say I’m a member of a B1G 10 marching band and I continue to march in college. So so much love for marching band, truly.
@Erin Kwon That’s great that you’ve been able to continue! How does marching in college compare to marching in HS? Unfortunately my college doesn’t have a marching band, and while the jazz band is pretty good I’ve never really been one for improv, so I’ve kinda stopped practicing. Fortunately I have been able to stay involved with my old HS marching band, and recently the band director actually offered me a temporary job as a kind of general assistant. But I’m eager to hear about what it’s been like in college marching band!

Did this show my senior year, 2010-2011. We turned the horn solo at the end of the ballad into a trumpet solo. I performed it on the 50 yard line of Lucas Oil Stadium. Best time of my life!!

Ahh, this brings back so many memories. I remember playing this my senior year, which was 7 1/2 years ago. How time flies! I had a blast.. kinda wish I could go back to those days, even for just a moment. I still love listening to this!
I remember one runthrough we had a day before competition. It was cold and cloudy. As we transitioned into the 3rd movement, it began to rain, then pour. Playing the bass drum felt so badass that day. It felt like we were going into war. And all the comments from the brass on how the water bounced off as we played was amazing and epic. Wish we could've seen it!
We only made it half way through the 3rd movement, though. That was an unforgettable rehearsal.

Played this my jr year of high school for marching band and it was the most awards in a season than our school had ever won. I miss those days
I did this show my second year of band and we got the highest score our band had ever gotten in over ten years. And I'm a senior now with five years of marching band experience and I still love this show.

This was my freshman year field show. I'm a senior now and just had my last marching event last night. The feels I'm getting rn. I'm gonna miss high school marching band. RAHS Mighty Marching Vaqueros 2014-2018.
We did KA our first year, then Pandora reopened, no show due to covid, and now this will be my senior year show. I’m excited!

And as a side note, KA: Battlefield was my absolute favorite movement to play throughout all of marching band. Our percussion instructor even wrote an extension for the drum break, where most of the mallets are using taiko drums (although we’re a public HS so we used toms instead lmao).

The melody is amazing, the entire 2nd part is pure ear candy, and the entire pit section will be fantastic! A great end to our high school marching band days! Sad, but a great final year, one I'll never forget!
Doomsday Machine So sad that no one wanted to create an actual pit for my school, we've got one keyboard player, and the second part has the pit section comprised of the percussionists, but that's about it.

@@jesterday3965 My school has 2 keyboard players, but only 2 snares and 2 bass drums. One keyboard sucks, and while the other is pretty good, he can't get his partner to learn his part.

I honestly think so too, but I think this is because there is a big focus put on the parts of the wind section, mainly the brass.

I'm on bass 2 and my bass line was so bad last year, we were forced to practice on the bus rides to football games and competitions. It was torture because I already knew my music but no one else on the bass line did. Hopefully it doesn't happen again this year.
At least they are kinda easy for a freshman marching snare of even an 8th grader (like me). But I still agree with you.

Lol, I'm doing this for my senior year in marching band. Since I'll be playing the alto saxophone, it's pretty damn easy.
But that random beeping, I don't understand. I all thought it was the battery on my Bluetooth headphones.
